They have ZERO plans on traveling that far for cuddling. Why waste the time of sending messages, asking what you are looking to find in a relationship ?
Are people really that goofy?

I think it depends on the kind of relationship they're asking about.
2,000 miles away is the perfect distance for, say, an intense intellectual friendship (one of my favorite types of relationship).
alrighty then..... I PREFER MY CUDDLING IN SUNNY LAS VEGAS.
And as always, completely FREE
Ugh, sunlight.
But seriously, it can be tough to find someone to meet up with in person on here—chatting with people (even people 2,000 miles away) isn't a bad way to pass the time. And if you happen to make a lifelong friend, well!
Also: nothing is free. Maybe it doesn't cost money, but that doesn't mean it's free....
I travel non stop. So in the future I actually see myself having more cuddle partners from other states than Cuddlers in my area (NYC).
My first cuddle was like 50 miles away or so anyway, that’s already pretty far.
2,000 miles is an appropriate distance to befriend anyone who looks as if they enjoyed The Last Samurai a bit too much.
Fun thought: some people may be just looking for someone to talk to. I've had great conversations with distant people on here.
Here's a better strategy: don't whine that someone wants to reach out to you. Some of us actually quite enjoy it. This is honestly no different than the "why does my non-preferred gender visit my profile" threads.
If you don't want the requests, just reject/deny them.
I've noticed one cuddler with more than 500 friends, seemingly from all over the country. He friend-requested me, although I don't think he plans to cuddle me. I think he travels a lot, has cuddled in many different states, and probably just enjoys the connections in the community.
I concur with @cease2exist , Such is life ! One persons friend request is a turn off while to someone else it is welcomed how ever never gotten. I welcome all and every friend request! "ZERO" harm in it and can still be therapeutic, its a friggn "Friend" request for crying out loud, lol
It's kind of odd how so many brand new female cuddlers already have a male friend in Finland. Even ones that say they cuddle only women.
If they are messaging you off the bat about relationship, what they want in one, what are you looking for etc, could be a scam. Next message will be that they will come see you all you need to do is deposit money for airfare
@Konoa I’m not sure what the message said, but I can tell you that one of my favorite “Cuddlers” is located half way across the world from me. We communicate almost daily and his input and personality warmth are invaluable to me.
While I understand that this site is for platonic cuddling and touch therapy, there is an undeniable emotional aspect to it. Often that need to be fulfilled can be at least sated some with verbal “cuddles.”
I understand it’s not for everyone, and you may not be interested; that’s your choice. Others may just be trying to connect.
Again the parallel with dating sites. Positive: they may know someone in your area and if you seem okay, they might help you make a connection. They may be planning a trip to your area. They may just want to learn from you, and you can learn from them. Negative: they show an instant bond with you that turns to some kind of financial fraud. On the dating sites, I’ve experienced the latter more than not. Just know to stop and block the minute the conversation turns to anything that relates to your money.
The internet can be a good place to connect with like minded individuals. It comes down to personal choice and intentions. As a cuddler I have been on the other end of someone showing interest in me from a distance and went to meet me, but then when I mention my requirements all of a sudden there is a problem or things get quiet. As a woman I wonder why would anyone think I would travel to meet them (and I don’t know or ever met them) without having my security and comfort in mind.
If someone friend requests me without even chatting with me first, that's an automatic decline. I have friended people from far distances, even though too far to ever cuddle, but only after chatting with them a reasonable amount of times. I'm not interested in people who seem to be "collecting" friends, like Facebook, that they don't even chat with much.
I'm generally with @BlueIris on accepting friend requests. I accept friend requests only when I've had a good conversation with someone first, whether it be on the forums or in PM. There are many lovely people here, most of which I'll probably never meet because they say they don't have plans to come to my area in Canada, but that doesn't bother me one bit since our conversations are still valuable and usually related to the goings-on on this site. Even if we're talking publicly here in the forum, sometimes it's nice to have some private commiseration. @DarrenWalker also makes a most excellent point and I agree. Despite the fact that I love to cuddle, I'm a fairly solitary creature otherwise. I most enjoy intellectual connections and connections made through words - they are the least "draining" for me. So an online friendship does wonders.
I agree with @TheeInfiniteFem @BlueIris and @Catloaf
I find myself sorta-kinda wishing that more people would befriend me just because, even if they are 2000 miles away. @respectful was my first friend here. He's MILES away and I'll probably never meet him in person, but I've really enjoyed our conversations. ^^ Actually, of the 4 friends I have on here, there's only 1 I've actually met. The other 3 are out of reach. XD
But it's worth noting that I'm not actively seeking cuddle partners at the moment, which I have written in my profile so that everyone knows up front
I agree with many of you.
OP: "Why waste the time of sending messages, asking what you are looking to find in a relationship ?" First to me, that's odd, and seems out of place: this is not a dating site so, I don't know what this "relationship" they are talking about is. Nor do I see an actual quote from them stating this. While there are all kinds of relationships I think typically when we say “I am in a relationship, etc., or What are you looking for in a relationship?” We are referring to romantic/sexual relationships. Not so much friendship, etc.
In terms of friendships, if you don't want: just don't accept. If you find it's happening a lot, you can include a line or two on your description: that you'd prefer only to connect with people nearby, etc. Then that should detour most people.
Personally, I got requests from people far away and a few here and there I added them. The ones I added, they are just people that I wish we were near because they seem cool to meet, and similar. Those I accepted, they seem nice, and some I had good exchanges with, as well. On another note, one of my good friends lives a continent away. So, everyone has something that works for them, and it's important to just let each other know by for example writing on our profiles the things that matter to us. ?
