Conflict between human beings. Is it inevitable even in cuddle discussions?

Forget all the psych stuff. If what you read offends thee, ignore it.

Some stuff I ignore, some I do not. Same as life. It does not take a genius to figure that out.

@HappinessHenry: I've never said I'm a relativist, because I'm not a relativist—I'm a realist. I believe in the existence of objective reality (which I sometimes call "truth").

  • @HappinessHenry

    You:

“I just saw another two, ostensibly initially perfectly valuable, Discussions - "Would You Cuddle The Homeless" and "To All Racists Out There" begin, very quickly to go off track and...spectacularly crash and burn. Hell I even played my own small part in the latter, head on collision (I think?).“ As well as your "bonus" question:

Discussions have the potential to improve, and strengthen people’s connections, skills, and lives. “... begin, very quickly to go off track and...spectacularly crash and burn. ..."

I disagree. I think both the mentioned discussions were valuable. Even, when at subjective points we may disagree with certain points made. Or think they lost their meaning/went off topic, etc.

Anyone not comfortable/ready/whatever to have certain discussions for whatever reason, they are free to not join/start. They can also opt out of discussions if they like. I think people who visit the site are capable of determining/choosing for themselves what, and where is best for them. Or, at least learning to choose for themselves what's best for them.

    Also:

Things one person might consider "loving, uplifting, etc.," can create disagreements/etc., as well! So, disagreements, and the like are inevitable in life. Though, we've the potential through discussions/debates/ to better deal/handle them. As well as, to strengthen, and broaden our understanding of the world/others.

Could you, simplify/rephrase this question as I am having trouble understanding it:

But my question is a slightly different one. "How come none of the obvious love, patience, wisdom and down right common sense that all of the written combatants in the Discussion stouches regular display elsewhere - in their ACTUAL CUDDLING activities - prevails here. And manages to calm everyone involved down."

  • Dear @Lovelight

RE "I disagree. I think both the mentioned discussions were valuable".

I said: "Two, perfectly valuable, Discussions".

You said: "Both the mentioned discussions were valuable".

I reckon, in this instance, we can agree to AGREE.

    Cuddle love
    Henry

    @Lovelight: I think I can simplify:

"How come none of the obvious love, patience, wisdom and downright common sense that all of the combatants in these forum fights regularly display elsewhere—for example, in their ACTUAL CUDDLING activities—prevails here, and manages to calm everyone involved down?"

And rephrase that question for you:

"Everyone who fights verbally on the forums has love, patience, wisdom, and common sense. I know they do because they regularly display those things elsewhere. So why do none of these good things get used to end the fights?"

  • Dear Dazzman @DarrenWalker You have provided me with the second most profound experience of my week - after having my first actual cuddle session.

Having someone edit and clarify your writing is really a lovely thing (and I really AM being completely sincere here). And much more fun than having to try to do it oneself.

I feel much less convoluted! And lighter.

  • @RealMan I watched the interesting "Ted Talk" you posted. Thank you.

But I was very confused because no Ted actually talked???

@HappinessHenry: Yes! [triumphant fist pump] Yes! The English writing editor is appreciated at last!

    [cough]
Um. Yeah. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks.
