I don't like having other live things in my living space. Cats, dogs, snakes, spiders, roaches, ferrets, humans... they tend to mess up my perfect, symmetrical, clean and tidy, right-angled world.
My favorite animals are the ones that belong to other people: my sister's cat, my watchmaking teacher's dog, that sort of thing. And even then, it depends on the animal. Some living things are jerks. Others have friendlier personalities. I like hanging out with the ones that don't beg for attention, but also don't mind giving and receiving spontaneous affection. It doesn't really depend on species.
Very well said! Yes, That's what I enjoy about the Human species, were so different, its exciting! I am a fan of art in many forms. I truly enjoy the Grace that cats especially lions and Tigers possess. I Envy the speed of the Cheetah and the Hayabusa, Japanese for peregrine falcon. Dogs I have seen literally more loyal than family members, sad but true. Alas we all have our preferences!

I like dogs more than cats because dogs don't scratch you when you pet their belly.

@DarrenWalker My cat bites. My hand is too big for his mouth to close around so it's largely ineffective. It is hard to be a killing machine when you weight 8 lbs.

I have only had cats in my life (I have one little black cat now named Hades, but he only responds to Baby Kitten which is my fault because I only call him Baby Kitten) but I've always wanted a dog and consider myself a dog lover too! I just know that right now isn't the best time to get one due to work and living in the city -- I'll be waiting to move into the suburbs to give puppy the room to run and play... the dog will probably end up responding to only Baby Puppy, realistically lol.

I love animals for their unconditional love:) love dogs and cats. Used to have German Shepherd. Recently due to work busy schedule no pet but planning to get one by next year. Just want to make sure I have enough time to spend with the pets and do the justice on my part )

I find that cats match my personality much better than dogs. To me they are very calming and I like their independence. Dogs are more needy and demanding of attention. And I don't think unconditional love is a good thing. I think you should earn love. Unfortunately, over the years I've developed an allergy to cats so I can't be around them for very long. This is a friendly calico cat that visits my house sometimes.
