Question! Are sofa beds too creaky for cuddling?

I'm thinking about the future and how to set up my cuddle space. I'll have room to work with and I would be practicing massage out of the same room, so I was thinking I could have a sofa bed with a mattress topper. When I'm using the room for massage, I can put the bed away and put up my table. When cuddling, pull out the bed and put the table away. It's been a while since I've used a pull out sofa though, and from what I remember they can be pretty loud when you adjust.

I like the sofa bed idea because my massage clients can sit on the sofa to fill out there forms, and it can easily transform into a bed when it needs to be so I can have room for a floor mat or massage table.

Don't have the exact dimensions yet but I drew a rough idea of what I mean. What do you think?

Good and practical. Mine is reasonably quiet. Try b4 you buy

  • Looks like my picture didn't upload, lemme try again.

  • It’s all about what mattress you put on it.

  • Waterbeds? Your thoughts?

  • I think owning a water bed would make me nervous. XD And since this won't be my forever home, I'd rather not invest in something like that since we'll probably be moving. I bet it feels nice though!

  • Waterbeds are so 80s. If you do that go grow a mullet and move into a motor home with faint fumes of meth emanating whenever you run water in a tub.

Personally, I slept in a sofa something when I was young and went to like a camping program. It felt solid, and comfortable. Try to see if they’ll give you a trial, and try it out if it’s comfortable, and the possible longevity of it. I think it'll work out. Besides the constant moving things around. Would the sofa bed really take that much space of the room*?

Also, hmmm thinking to get a space for the massage table in the living room instead. Though, go with whatever works best for you, and your space.

A nice mattress, and covers would be good. Probably something with solid, calming colours, and hints of floral designs around/here, and there.

  • @FunCartel The weird thing is that in Australia now mullets are the height of hipster cool.

    I don't have one. I'm bald.

@FunCartel: Ah, mullets. I had one for a while after I moved out on my own. It's kind of nice: combines the fun of longer hair with the comfort of never having it all in your face. In the end, though, I settled on a buzz cut. Easier to wash.

    An interesting historical note: https://irishhistorypodcast.ie/the-medieval-mullet/

  • Waterbeds:

  • @Lovelight Yeah, the picture isn't to scale, the bed likely won't take up THAT much. I won't get the keys to the new place for a few weeks so I haven't had a chance to measure.

I'm hoping to keep everything contained in this one room because it's sort of "away" from everything else in the house and has a bathroom. I live with my husband, and my in-laws may come to stay with us from time to time, so I wanted to have a semi private place to practice, for the comfort of my clients. The living room is open and part of everything, so I'd have to get privacy screens, but it wouldn't keep sound in or out from the rest of the house. I dunno, still figuring it out ~

  • thank you by the way! for your input ^^

@EarthlyAngel003 alright, cool. Feel free to let me know if you'd like any other, input or help. I thought you lived by yourself. So, I understand this changes your set up. ?

I am no expert. Though, together we might achieve something you are happy with.

Having reread your post, you said:

"It's been a while since I've used a pull out sofa though, and from what I remember they can be pretty loud when you adjust.

I too, have concern about the noise. Especially, since some clients may have sensory difficulties. Though, you might find silent/minimal noise ones. I heard, they run out quick, though.

I've been researching a good amount of time. I don't know how fast you want this. Though, in a week or so, I may have some bedroom set up suggestions for you/anyone. As well as a multipurpose massage table suggestion. In the end, you can figure out what suits you the best.

My personal focus is: efficiency. As well as, hopefully achieve decent longevity.

  • So fa so good.

  • @Lovelight I'm thinking it'll take some time to get the room how I want it, a month or more. My main concern is just moving into the house for now. I sort of made a hasty decision in buying a futon a while ago and it wasn't quite what I hoped it would me, so I'm happy to take my time ~ Thanks again for your input ^^

  • @HappinessHenry Hipsters are people who really do not know who they are so they try to be someone else to be cool.

  • @FunCartel Hipsters, whatever they may be, are definitely not sofas. I think.

  • @EarthyAngel003 If it’s relatively in good condition, you can try selling it to friends/+ strangers. You can charge strangers shipping/etc. Though, you can deduct shipping cost for friends if, they'll come pick it up from you. Or you can donate it when you are ready. Whatever works best for you.

If you will, make sure you can do that because I don't know the laws for your side. No problem, it'll take time, and you'll learn along the way.

  • @HappinessHenry Hence why I said “Hipsters are people....” I guess it was obvious to everyone but it seems like you Googled it to see if you could order a Hipster to sit on.

  • @FunCartel Are there females of the species (Google is apparently not omniscient!) If not then they will definitely die out as a fashion.

If there are, may I request her to sit on me, rather than vice versa.

In the best possible - cuddle friendly only - way. OF COURSE!

You are trying too hard. Take a breath because your humor is not omniscient either.
