Why do so many women describe themselves as a 'princess'?

I've been noticing a lot of usernames containng the word 'princess' and profiles where women describe themselves as a 'princess'. I guess this means they regard themselves as something special compared to other people.
Anyone with 'princess' in their username care to comment? Can the resident CC statistician tell us how many of these usernames there are?
Here's an interesting article on the topic:

  • I find it a bit immature. Of coarse it doesnt apply to all but most girls i have known in person that call themselves princess or refer to themselves as one are normally a bit self centered or immature.

    @UKGuy

"I guess this means they regard themselves as something special compared to other people." Most people are biased in favor of themselves.

When it comes to usernames, I'm far more interested in those who use "daddy", which also seems fairly common. I'd be extremely wary of anyone who refers to themselves as such. A princess? There are fewer red flags there. As @PlushandPerfect said, they might just be self-centered or immature.

I think a lot of chosen names can demonstrate self centeredness and immaturity, but they also can be a simple name the chose for no better reason than it popped in their head. Sure princess, prince, daddy, cutie, Pretty etc. could give a glimpse in someone’s personality or intention; it also could signal how they’d like to be treated or seen. Everyone can’t have the name “gentleman” or “lady” so some creativity is required and sometimes the lack of is shown.

Can also be a codeword for a 'sugar baby'. Very poor choice of username on this website either way. As for the influence they might have on young girls, I'm all for princesses. I love princesses! Sailor Moon, Disney... it's all about how a girl views those stories and what she takes from them. Entitlement or empowerment? What she takes from stuff like that says a lot about how she's raised in my opinion - not the media she dabbles in.

  • Having cuddled an "alleged princess of the Disney persuasion", my impression was neither that she claims to be a princess, that she expects princess cailber treatment, nor that she is immature. She is a Disney fan, but she didn't flood me with it. I really enjoyed her company and didn't actually give a second thought to her screen name.

If screen names are supposed to be a crystal definition of the people they represent, I have to do a hard backpedal on mine. I'm hardly restricted from travel by even the heaviest Syracuse snow. (I actually enjoy driving in it!) I hope I haven't deceived you all! :o

  • I just like to be called the god. Or the goddess , I am not gender bias

I don't care what you all say I'm a princess.

I'm with @pmvines. (Though I prefer "eldritch deity.")

@vesnyr: You are a pretty, pretty princess.

  • I figured it was just because they want to ?‍♂️

    Really good points everyone. ?

I think I might have previously other places refered to myself as such, not username though. I'd guess for me that it simply had to do with wanting to be respected, and treated well. Many girls growing up see on the media princesses/ getting treat what appears to be well: even if some times some of it deconstructed may be toxic. Part of it may also have to do with family/parents/etc., refering to their young girls as princess, then doing something good for them. Or giving a compliment. Which many young/women then, associate the two. "Princess = Good." Similarly with "Queen" although, the latter may have a few other meanings, as well.

Some young/women may either not know. Or care about the negative connotations it has. Though, simply think that the name can come with perks. Or make a statement of: "I am worthy of good treatment."

Though, there are also some people, whatever they refer to themselves who are self-centered, act entitled, etc. In part, especially when titles such as "princess" goes into it, in part it may be that they have been spoiled, and put on an unhealthy pedistal for whatever the reason may be.

Everyone has their reasoning, these are just some reasons that some people may be doing it for. In most cases, I think it's okay to proceed, get to know the person for yourself. If they are say, immature: I wouldn't link their username of "princess" to it. I don't suppose a real princess ought to be acting like little brats, that don't care about others. So, I'd just think that they might have mislabeled themselves. Or in some cases need to grow up! Though, also it's generally a name introduced to girls/ at such a young age. It's relatively innocent, and can be good natured when a woman understands that good treatment goes both ways.

After giving this problematic social issue extensive thought and performing tedious research I think I may have find out the perfect solution.
I propose a cuddle boycott on all women who describe themselves as 'princesses'. I think all male users of the website should refrain from cuddling such individuals so that I get all of them.
Princesses this way. All of you come here ???

  • @vesnyr lol! Yeah, good idea. ?

Sorry though, men who call themselves princess also gotta be boycott by princesses. Non-princess here wants them, and will try to help to balance them out. ?

    Princess men with non-princess women.
    Non-princess men with princess women.

    I think that's a balance, a good combo. lol.

@Lovelight: Talk about overthrowing the caste system! Well, I guess if royals stuck together it's possibly they might get stuck-up.

If you are worried about the name someone picked out then you are doomed to never find the right partner unless serendipity strikes fortuitously. It is the same thing as the guy that falls for the Hollywood version of beauty, finds it, and discovers she is dead, dumb and vapid on the inside. Judging someone from appearances (looks, name, etc) is at best superficial and at the least an exercise in stereotyping.

    @vesnyr smart move

The princess still gets the attention tho. I have always been a regular female. When I watch my guy friends ,pay for pretty, so to speak, it tends to have an annoying end for them. I have seen this scenario for a long time. True... Not All

But Many. Oh there are so MANY.....

  • @qu3ntum I feel you. Many ignore what really matters as long as a woman is pretty. Or a man is tall. Etc. It’s a whole ball game of “kicking and screaming”. lol. I hope that movie fits it okay. It’s been ages since I’ve watched it.

  • Are we overlooking the obvious here. Perhaps there are an inordinate number of genuine female members of minor royalties using this site? Just saying.

I am a Nigerian prince who has just inherited a large sum of money, and all I need is your bank account routing number so that I can send it to you so that you can keep it in safe keeping until I am able to move there to you so that we can live the rest of our lives as wealthy lovers

  • You had me at Prince @pmvines

  • @pmvines Im so glad to run into you here! I sent that info via email when you asked for it, but you disappeared!!!

  • @DaForceofNature hey it's hard out here for a prince ?

  • @HappinessHenry so you will be my American bride to be ?

  • @pmvines I am sure Hank has experience with that.

  • Wait - what if the woman I cuddled is a princess? :o

While we're on questionable royalty, Prince is legit (Prince Rogers Nelson) but Queen Latifah is dubious at best (Dana Owens). This might be worth looking into...

  • it's a code word for …….."on medication"

  • @DarrenWalker lol. Yes, I wasn't even intending to overthrow anything. Though, I sure tried. ?

  • I wish we were all genderless

MOD: Comment removed. Personal attack [reurbo]

  • Usually it just means they're girly. Family and childhood issues may factor in but usually it none of our business. Mostly it's silly and immature but it's not like the wanted to come off as smart. If they wanted to be respectable they would be. Though I do agree with catloaf sometimes it is code for sugar babies and that can be bad for the site.

Bu don't for get when you think something else is weird it's the pot calling the kettle black. We are all weird here.

  • @hunnybee Still making assumptions on strangers based off a name. I find the irony pretty thick that females on here make assumptions about other females based off a name, yet a lot of the females who show a lot of cleavage or skin are shocked or go on rants on the forum because males made assumptions. That strikes me as strange and is not directed at you hunnybee or anyone in particular but anyone who has been on this site and forums for awhile know exactly what I am talking about if you are being totally honest with yourself.
