I was inspired by @MrCuddlenity’s thread about cuddling and traveling to offer a business idea to anyone who would like to take the ball and run with it. As someone who takes well over 120 flights a year I have had an idea percolating for several months. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to implement it. But it seems to me that a “Cuddle Spa” in the major airports would be a hit. You could have a la carte services such as chair massage up front (not a new idea at all), nap beds (with audio if desired) and of course, a cuddler. You could charge by 15 minute chunks (you have to accommodate short layovers). You have menus where nap time would be say 20 dollars for 15 minutes, 40 dollars for a 15 minute cuddle and so on. Keep in mind the prices are steeper because rent at airports are steep. I would think you would start in Atlanta, NY, LA and Chicago.

    What about getting a license to cuddle at an airport as a business?
    Also, if licenses were obtained somehow- would professional cuddlers be open to cuddling everyone who wanted to?
    And would general people be open to cuddling at a public space?

    Details, details. Naturally there would be private compartments (if someone just wanted to nap they would need privacy) and much of the inherent danger would be gone as there would be management and other employees who would not cuddle, so you kind of have that “two-deep” concept going on that the Boy Scouts adopted after allegations of sexual abuse. You would simply have a buzzer if a client got out of hand. But hey, if someone wants to do this they can hash out the details.

    Also, if you can do massage in an airport which requires licensing then the rest is easy. Local media would eat this story up.

    I would add that this concept without the cuddling is common in many Asian countries.

    I was just going to ask how this type of business has not made its way over to good ol' Nippon, but I stand corrected. Still, there are businesses in Asia with a similar concept but sans cuddling? I'm surprised, what with the existence and acceptance of cuddle cafés over there. Somebody get Boss Yakitori on the phone, ASAP.

    @Catloaf I am not saying there is not cuddle cafes, but the concept where you have massage by the 1/4 hr, napping by the 1/4 hr and cuddling by the 1/4 hr under one roof has not been done—-these three things are things that business and frequent travelers relish and the US airports I mentioned push through millions of people in a confined space every year. In addition, when you have flights canceled because of weather business would boom even more because being stranded in an airport blows no matter how many hours of Netflix you watch.

    Well if you can get a license to cuddle publicly - which u cant today.. then yes.
    But its definitely not possible so until then

    Aldo, you cant compare cuddling to massage or nap services .. if only it was that simple

    @mattcuds If there is no license requirement then you are allowed to proceed unless there are laws against it.

    Really? So you can legally right now have a cuddle service at a public place?
    I think you cannot.. I thought some state or states have not allowed such cuddle licenses to be passed.. am I wrong?

    Cuddle Up To Me in Portland is one example of an existing "cuddle shop". So, yes, you can. I imagine depending on where you live that in the process of setting up, you have a whole lot of legal stuff to go through first, given that you're renting a space, hiring employees etc... I dunno, I'm just an indie contractor with no license who has to file taxes under self-employment.
