Location versus search

Curious if anyone knows the answer to this. If a new enthusiast list there location to be near yours, and the distance shows that’s likely true, why wouldn’t this person show up in the search results?

The location is rather confusing, based on what is described but the distance is close. Example: I live in Manhattan, this new enthusiast lists and being from Brooklyn, Idaho but the distance is 15 miles away what is that telling me?

    There are many different Brooklyns in the USA. The only one close to Manhattan is Brooklyn, New York. I believe the distance finder uses the zipcode, so maybe someone mistyped their zipcode? You might also have something else in your search criteria that is excluding this person.

    The cities i used were only examples, but yes I’m curious about the distance not showing up.

    That's what we encourage people enter in their profile because it improves search accuracy, particularly for searches with a small radius.

    In reality, plenty of people don't enter their zipcode and instead use their city/town or even sometimes just their state. That means you can have someone living right next to you but because they chose not to use their zipcode, the system might see them as further away as it has to use the default geographic coordinates for the city or state they entered.

    Yeah, my issue was i had my search parameters set incorrectly. I’m not sure why i ever would make it less than 50 miles, but for some reason i did and forgot.
