Down the street the dogs are barkin'
And the day is a-gettin' dark
As the night comes in a-falling
The dogs will lose their bark
And the silent night will shatter
From the sounds inside my mind
Yes I’m one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind

From the crossroads of my doorstep
My eyes start to fade
And I turn my head back to the room
Where my love and I have laid
And I gaze back to the street
The sidewalk and the sign
And I’m one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind

It’s a restless hungry feeling
That don’t mean no one no good
When everything I’m a-sayin'
You can say it just as good
You’re right from your side
I'm right from mine
We’re both just one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind

  • @GEmart That would be Bob Dylan’s “One Too Many Mornings.”

'Twas brilling, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

  • I know a place where I can go
    When I'm alone
Into your arms ooh oh ooh
    Into your arms
    I can go

I know a place that's safe and warm
    From the crowd
Into your arms ooh oh ooh
    Into your arms
    I can go

And if I should fall (fall)
    I know I won't be alone
    Be alone anymore

  • When I need you
I just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you
    Is only a heartbeat away

  • Ah ok . I had only ever heard the Lemonheads version , didn't realize was a cover

    @FunCartel No

Robyn St. Clare from the band, Love Positions

I knew it was a cover version and still found it hard to unearth the composer when I went looking for him. That song is so associated with The Lemonheads but it was the cuddle factor that first made me think of it.

  • Hold your breath
We're sinking down for miles in an ocean full of mortal mistake,
where the light is much clearer
Is it time to purge our lungs amongst the shipwreck?
    Further we lower us down
