Self cuddle anyone?

These days shelter in place restrictions have some of us craving for more touch. Since we have had to physically stay away from others.

Others of us are not really socially driven yet still desire that soothing nurturing touch.

And we're still weary of meeting strangers we find it hard to trust.

For others like me my health is my lifeline. Self quarantine and months of continuous testing and retesting is an absolute must for me. So I will not take chances.

Hence self cuddling is a more viable option for me. At least for now.

So in this thread how about we explore different ways to cuddle one self and enjoy it?

But one has to let go of the belief that cuddling with another is the ideal and better. One needs to lose that belief in order to fully tune into oneself. It's just another cuddle option albeit with the self. And when one does tune in to oneself, one will find one's chakras and muscles open up and become receptive to receiving self touch. The body relaxes and allows the self to feel it's own touch.

As is per usual for me these days I woke up this morning with a nagging headache and gum pain.

So I sat up in my bed and stretched my arms to the ceiling to two deep inhalations and flexed them in a fold across my chest to one slow deliberate exhalation.

Then I bring my folded hands up to my chin and began stroking my temples on each side with my finger tips slowly and gently. I alternate with gentle yet firm pressure on my chin bones as I feel the soothing sensation radiate through my cheeks into my gum line.

I pause for slow deep breaths as I continue to alternate slow firm gentle now circular motions with my finger pads up and down my nose bridge and cheeks and across my forehead down to my ears and jaw bones. I use the tips to alternate with firm pressure. I'm feeling some relief.

I rest my arms with intermittent flexing and extensions. Then bring them back to a fold and repeat.

As I continue I feel the muscles in my jaw relax and the faint tingle of more relief. The ache is subsiding in my head. And I take one more cleansing breath before finally unfolding my arms in a restful pose. I take a few sips of water I keep beside my bed and lay back on my pillow feeling very relaxed and comforted.

I think I'll lay here for a awhile and pull my 20 year old beaten down pillow close to my chest as I reminisce on great connections of the past with my late furry animal friends.

I am sitting on the side of a country road this evening with my hands folded across my chest. As I take deep cleansing breaths I watch people stare at me.

I guess it looks weird to see some female sitting on the side of a road in a rural town in leggings and tee shirt hugging herself. I really don't care. So I keep on.

The sun is slowly setting and I am hugging myself while lightly stroking my shoulders and arms. I move my hands down my torso and rub my back and sides with my finger pads.

As it gets darker I pull myself up with my legs and stretch my body as far as I can. I breathe in and out in one hold. And keep walking.

That's my comfort for the weekend. And it most likely will be for a very very long time.

Hey COVID-19 thank you for justifying my asocial life. Thank you for giving my journey to self love and self compassion new life and meaning. It's a pity you had to take so many lives and livelihoods with you. But I'm forever grateful you gave me a reason to embrace self cuddling and self relation. Terms I would never dare mention to myself or others 7 months ago. But here I am eternally grateful that you have given new meaning to the term self care. For folks like me, life continues alone with a renewed resolve to live fully, healthfully and with purpose albeit all by myself. To continue to be my own best friend, my own partner and soul mate. To truly explore and expand my vision for self cuddling.
    .
All thanks to you COVID. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. I can truly demonstrate what it is, what it means to be a content and happy introvert!

Here I am again. Talking to my spirit and reminding myself that I'm still human. That I'm still human enough to enjoy communicating with others yet not need to maintain contact. I'm human enough to appreciate every conversation as a small moment in time. As I practice doing that I feel so much more relaxed and self assured. I feel so much more grateful to just be able to breathe and not feel my heart pounding away in my chest. I'm living my reality in the truth as I know it: alone, content and thankful for everything I have. And that's how I believe I'll be living the rest of my life as I know it. I feel blessed.

I feel very blessed in spite of
often feeling like damaged goods. In spite of feeling like the oddity to be avoided and ignored. I feel very blessed to look in my face and honestly say from my gut what I think and feel without judging and decimating my character. I can tell myself things I've done that I'm not proud of lovingly and respectfully with pride. And that is something I'm truly thankful for.
