@Mark ,
As many know I’ve been on this site for awhile. My experience is that those who are new are somewhat confused regarding what the main goals and objectives of Cuddle Comfort are.
A brief but detailed video would be helpful. This should also include: why do people cuddle?, what to expect on the site, the difference between being a professional and enthusiast and a few other topics. This is still something relatively new.
@mark ...what about just making the extended FAQ (the stickied FAQ in general discussion) more accessible and easier to find than it currently is ?
The site was built for platonic cuddling and intended to be used as so. But as @JasonCuddles said earlier the one factor you can't account for is human feelings and emotions. If 2 consenting adults ( keyword being consenting ) agree to meet for platonic cuddles and while doing so mutually agree there's interest in more why shouldn't they be able to explore it just because they met here ? Especially if the honest intent was to meet for platonic reasons but mutual attraction grew organically. As for the video idea @Mark would have to answer this or someone smarter than me ( which shouldn't be hard to find ) along with costs who would own rights to the video CC itself or is it a case where anyone involved in the production or whoever creates the content owns the rights or if it's anyone's likeness other than @Mark in the video would they own rights or partial rights therefore if they ever left the site could take the video with them as their intellectual property or even if they don't leave could force CC to pull it down at anytime if their intellectual property and not sole property of the website ?
@hugonehugall ~ Good call ~ I'm sure the necessary papers could be drawn up for releasing all interest to CC/Mark and signed by all involved parties. Maybe there's a cuddly attorney who'd be willing to do it pro-bono even...?
@saramajara ~ The "stickied" FAQ is currently the 3rd one down on my list. How would you suggest they make it easier to find? Some initial thoughts I had were:
•Putting "FAQ" in the title
•Anchor it to the top of the forum list
•Make it global/at the top of each forum list
•Place a link to it from the main drop-down/sidebar menu under FAQ and call it "FAQ Forum"
•Have it as part of the "Home" page under the "New Cuddlers" section and before the "Social" section (perhaps with a blurb like: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about CuddleComfort guidlines, cuddling and community expectations ~ or something similar)
Or did you have something else in mind? I'm just just wondering... I'm not very tech savvy but I've done some backend web stuff and knowing what would make things "easier" can be really helpful. I have no clue if they'd sctually do any of the above, or whatever you have in mind, but who knows...? I just think if we're specific it's probably more likely. ~QL
@quixotic_life
I thought it would be helpful to copy (the “sticked FAQ” / “extended FAQ ) out of the forum / discussion space.
As far as I can tell the only two ways to access it are 1. In the general discussion forum. (A lot of CC users don’t ever visit the forums or know they exist) And 2. By clicking on a small link inside the text of the FAQ in the top panel of the home screen.
IMO it would be nice to have the content posted by @respectful from the stickied/extended FAQ available alongside the other FAQ info from the blue top panel on our home screens. (Instead of having to really go searching thru the forums or a hard to find link in the general FAQ )
I hope I’m explaining this clearly. Am I making sense? I’m happy to add some screenshots if it’s not clear... it’s kind of hard to explain verbally ( and its in a different place if your using the site on mobile )
@saramajara ~ Makes sense to me... Maybe a screenshot plus @'ing Mark with reference to the above would help too?
IDK, but for what it's worth, my suggestions all relate to an (android) mobile only user's view/experience.
@quixotic_life I did try and @mark but he did not respond my suggestion. I imagine he’s got a big job and can’t read & respond every time he is tagged. He did respond to the video idea, which is great! But I understand that creating a into/welcome video could be a long and/or costly process. So one last try...
@mark - instead of a welcome video, (which I understand is a large endeavor), I thought just adding to the FAQ on our home screen may be easier and potentially more helpful for new users & others who have questions like, “what’s this place ( cuddle comfort) all about?!” I know I’ve been getting a lot of these messages in my inbox lately, and there seems to be more threads like this one, as well. ( I’m guessing membership & activity has jumped up in response to months of isolation from coronavirus. ) I think people have had trouble finding the answer to that question because some of the most helpful introductory information is a little hard to find if you don’t know where to look. I generally direct people to the faq posts by @respectful in the “stickied” faq thread in the general discussion forum. And I know one can get there, as well, by clicking on a link in the top panel / drop menu FAQ on our home screen. The FAQ in the top panel / drop menu is helpful, but IMO, more for people who seem to be familiar with our community. I think adding the extended faq/forum faq to that top panel / drop menu FAQ would help more people find answers, as being a much more intuitive & obvious place to look 👍 ( Im just guessing - but I’d think just adding text to the general FAQ with the already available wording by @respectful , would be much easier than producing a intro video or something similarly large )
Thanks @Mark !!

Ps. Below is the link to the “extended FAQ” / “stickied FAQ” by @respectful that I keep going on about. 🤓

I really dont understand the idea that a video is a huge and costly undertaking. Uncountable idiots upload millions of hrs of video on line everyday. We dont need academy award winning cinematography and CC servers would not even need to host it, just put a link to a YouTube video. You can make a good quality video with a iphone and computer editing. For sure people are doing it every day on YouTube. I bet there are videographers on CC that would do it for free to get exposure for their business.
I don’t think a video is going to change anything for the better or for the worse. It’ll sit there, unwatched by most people. I don’t think the purpose of this website is hard to decipher. I think some people asking seemingly innocent questions are fishing.
@JLM ~ I totally agree about the fishing! I know I've bit the hook more than once ~ lol 🎣
But I'd like to add on, I also think it could be a fun 'creative commons' type project that would provide people with some meaningful connection they may not otherwise be getting right now and in the future may serve those who are more auditory or visual learners 'get' what's going on here.....
@JLM ,
There are many who are confused as to what this sites about. So a short video might be helpful.
@JLM @quixotic_life I agree with the "fishing" suspicion. I think most of us are guilty of at least wanting, to break rules of one form or another.
However, we do have some keen movie-makers on the site. @Sheena123
I do think it would be a fun project for those that are so inclined, but I still say the number of people who legitimately don’t get it is small. But I’m not here to 💩 the party.
@geoff1000 lol you want me to make a video of me singing the rules?? Lol
@Sheena123 - Sultry beat poetry style!!!
@quixotic_life lol alright I’m on it! But I only know how to snap my fingers on one hand so it will predominately be jazz hands 🤣
Lol! Sweet! 👋👋 I'm a big fan of Jazz-hands!
@sheena123 , lol. Maybe that's what it'll take to get people to actually watch it.
