Anyone watching football tonight?

Let’s go CHIEFS!!!

Comments

  • Lol ~ I would've thought it all cancelled ... I mean tennis makes sense, but how would a socially distant football game even work?

  • [Deleted User]bwelnicki (deleted user)

@quixotic_life new rules....if you tackle the spot directly 6 feet away from a player, it counts as a tackle 😉

  • Ah sweet! Maybe I'll watch it then! 😉

  • @quixotic_life the players are tested daily , remain socially distant while on sideline & bench area , all of them wearing mask during that time of course along with the coaches , no cheerleaders , most stadiums no fans & some with limited fans according to local guidelines. During the week everyone basically does nothing but go home when not at team facility like everyone in the country who basically goes to work and goes home and avoids social gatherings and such and anything that could put them at risk aside from playing football.

what @hugonehugall said - it’s not as controlled as the NHL, but they’ve done pretty well in reorganizing it. if you’re watching you might also notice the significantly decreased attendance.

  • Nope, I have had enough politics. Im done with the NLF this year.

  • [Deleted User]bwelnicki (deleted user)

@snuggleme123 you are letting your profile pic self down!!!! 😝

  • Yep, big win that night. I am a life long Niners fan, and a Broncos fan. I live by Jax. I love football, but have zero desire to watch the "pros" this year.

  • Just my answer to your question, Mahomie. LOL Enjoy

  • Lol ~ I was mostly joking anyway 🙃 and even though the best parts won't be happening, I hope it's still fun for you all to watch... but, noone to do the wave and no cheerleaders?!
    Smh... Borrrrring...!

J/K ~ Football really isn't something I'm into and I tend to forget it even exists until it's time for the Super Bowl and the stores build crazy displays with cases of pop or beer.

So... Go team in the colors! Put the ball where it goes for points! Wooooo! 😉

  • @quixotic_life - Cases of pop? A pop is a noise. :p

On another note, I hate watching sports.... so boring. How people are entertained by somebody else throwing the ball around is beyond me.

  • [Deleted User]bwelnicki (deleted user)

Pop is a kind of music.

  • @Mike403 ~ Meh ~ There's a lot of reasons people enjoy it.

Go them!!! It's just not for me...

Unless it's live! I've been to few of those (football, baseball, hockey, basketball) and after each one I felt I better understood why people were so into it.

But it's really different on tv! (Lol ~ like your peeve feeling about the use of VC... it's just not the same...) 😉

  • @quixotic_life - It's gotten to the point where people watch others play video games now. It's called Esports.

  • OMG! @Mike403 ~ A new twist on Esports! I want the ones that are tournament style merged with VR so bad!!!

I think it would be so fun if the game characters were composed of people in fully padded VR gear, with controllers built into the gloves, so they could control the movements as usual but also add momentum and boosts by matching the physical moves of their character.

As the viewers we'd be presented with an assortment of viewing options to switch between... like any individual player's POV, or a global view from within the game where you can see everyone in play and where they are in relation to others, and (what I'd like to see) the live view of the insanity unfolding as a bunch of blindfolded gamers are falling all over each other while trying to rack up points.

Idk... It probably wouldn't work for whatever they're actually into playing, but if it was based on surviving a zombie apocalypse it might pair well...
(wait... defeating zombies isn't a "sport" is it?! - dang it!)

  • [Deleted User]bwelnicki (deleted user)

@quixotic_life ”they” really need to put you in charge of more things, because that sounds incredible.

  • @quixotic_life - This is one of the best purchases I made. I freaking love VR.

  • @bwelnicki ~ Stepping up as player #1
    MikeFourOOOOOOoooooTHREEEEEE!!!

And the crowd goes wild! 🎉👏👏👏🎉👏👏👏🎉
Clicking and toggling! Toggling and clicking! 🎮🕹
    And chanting 🗯 @Mike403 403 403 403 403 403!

  • @quixotic_life - You haven't lived until you went on a safari in VR and have an elephant slap you in the face with its trunk.

  • Um... 🐘...

In my teacher voice... Elephant! Even though it worked out, because @Mike403 feels more alive now, we ask before touching our friends. And if they say yes, we do it gently...

Then I walk away rolling my eyes and muttering under my breath about the elephant in the room again...

  • Sports have always been a critical part of our society socially, economically , and of course from an entertainment standpoint.
Obviously I’m a huge fan and the world would be in a really bad place without them. It’s good to have them back despite all the other stuff going on in the world.

  • [Deleted User]bwelnicki (deleted user)

@Mike403 drooool! i really want to play Half Life:Alyx

  • @bwelnicki - I have it. That game isn't native to the Quest. It requires a VR ready gaming PC and a link cable.

I bought that headset before I got my PC since it operates as a stand-alone device(no PC required).

  • [Deleted User]chameleeon (deleted user)

I thought you meant football as in "soccer." :p

  • @chameleeon
"America and Great Britain ; two nations divided by a common language."
'Fraid we're very much in the minority here. ☹️

In "Three Days to Kill", Kevin Costner's character refers to "football" and a British character says, "Oh, you mean American Football".
Kevin Costner's character replies stoney-faced, "Football".
