What's your favorite midnight snack?

  • I'm chuckling over here and if you were in driving distance, I'd probably have to come over and have a socially distant feast @RaeLew-style! <3

  • Anything that the Surgeon-General would discourage. I like the calorie warnings on fast-food menus, because I can pick the one I'll most like, by simply finding the biggest number.

@littermate Trader Joe's, Walmart, Kroger, Amazon. Walmart has their Great Value Brand of it. The other two popular brands are Speculoos and Biskoff.

  • Thanks @RaeLew ! Cookie butter. Who knew.

  • Any recipe including condensed milk, is off to a good start.

  • Oh did anyone mention FUDGE? I can't eat anything past 3 that has caffeine, so it wouldn't be my midnight snack, nevertheless, my grandmother used to send us fudge from heaven every Christmas. Condensed milk conjures up that deliciousness.

  • Scooby snacks.

  • Bananas with almond butter and dark chocolate chips...yummy!

  • Ooooohhhhh. <3

  • Cereal, fruit, chips and salsa, or pepperoncini

  • Bananas are "cheating" food.

They are fruit, which is healthy, so we can feel virtuous ; but delicious comfort food, so we enjoy them.

My local store has them near the checkout, so when I can't find something else that I want, I say, "Oh well, I suppose I'd better buy some-thing". It also has a trash bin right outside the front door, which is convenient for the skin, because I've often eaten it in the five yards to there from the checkout. 😀

@geoff1000, my mother used to swear that I was part monkey due to the amount of bananas that I consumed on a daily basis. So yum-tastic...I'll eat that kind of "cheat" food every single day, thanks!

  • Just got back from my f friends where we decimated this. Almost a.shame considering how pretty it was

  • Bananas are the best snack!

  • @littermate Indeed!!!!!
    @pmvines...nom...nom...nom... :)

@geoff1000 @MelanieL I'm gonna upgrade my banana to almond butter and banana toast with some syrup drizzled on it.

  • @RaeLew
Here is something yummy to try!

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Using a knife, cut about ½” deep down the length of your banana.

Spoon almond butter throughout the opening in the banana.

    Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Wrap the banana in aluminum foil.

Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

    Unwrap and enjoy!

@MelanieL that sounds like absolute heaven 🤤

  • @RaeLew We are talking "melt in your mouth" scrumptious. :3

  • @MelanieL - that reminds me of camping and banana boats:

    Piece of foil.
Place a sliced banana, length-wise, face up.
Place a Hershey or Ghirardelli chocolate bar on top.
Place three marshmallows on top of the chocolate bar. (One alternative is to place already toasted marshmallows on top.)
    Wrap/secure the goodness.
Place in coals in the fire/stove for 15 mins.
    Carefully retrieve and unwrap.
Eat with a spoon, fork, or spork.

When I was a kid, we would only usually have baked jacket potatoes on bonfire night, because they took so long to cook. Now they are much faster and convenient in a microwave, but I kinda feel the anticipation was part of the joy.

A bit like cuddling really ; a one hour session planned for a week ahead, actually lasts a whole week.

  • Lastnight's snack:
A plain sweet potato with pepper jack cheese and an over-medium fried egg on top.

granted I've been sick for a couple days, but it was hella tasty!

  • @Sideon ~ Cast-iron campfire brownies with peanut butter and marshmallows served alongside roasted bananas with fresh made zip-lock ice-cream and freshly picked berries on top!!! Ohmagosh! Soooo good!!!!

  • Bananas are definitely a common element here.

  • @Sideon Oh my goodness!! I know what I’ll be making this coming weekend while camping!!! Perfect timing!!

  • Ooohh, the loaded sweet potato @quixotic_life! Mmmm.
