Cartoons

It's Saturday morning and I'm reminiscing about how fun it was to wake up on Saturday morning, grab a bowl of cereal and plop down in front of the TV for the Saturday Morning Cartoon lineup.

The Line-Up?   Any of the following:

Superfriends, Gummy Bears, Dungeons and Dragons, Pac-Man, Smurfs, Kidd Video, Wuzzles, Real Ghostbusters, Galaxy High, Pee Wee's Playhouse, Hulk Hogan's Rock & Wrestling, Jem, Rainbow Brite (just the intro), Winnie the Pooh...and that's all I can remember offhand.  Anyone else have any Saturday Morning Cartoons they loved growing up?

That's not even counting my afternoon goodies of Transformers, He-man, She-Ra, GI. Joe, Thundercats, Thundarr the Barbarian and the hordes of Hanna-Barbara cartoons that were out.

In short, what were/are some of your favorite cartoons?

  • I think right around the time of the invention of the cartoon nextwork is when they started not showing them on network tv as much. Then now with the internet and so many other tv options I barely see any cartoons being aired on Sat.

You also could see cartoons after school as well, like I remember GI Joe and Transformers, and I think MASK as well from 3 to 5 on weekdays. Also used to show some cartoons in early morn on weekdays. I lived like 0.1 miles from my elementary school and my driveway was up a hill and the road to the school was at a sloped angle so I would watch Dennis the Menace and right as they ran the ending credits at 8 I jumped on my bike and sling shotted myself down the road to school and would be inside by 8:05..

For me it was Transformers, He-Man and GI Joe.  I never watched MASK but it has one of my favorite intros.  @Brandi - I never played D&D(had a lot of friends who did) but the cartoon is pure fun with a great baddie. @Alternis - My favorite Chip & Dales was the one with Coo-Coo Cola "Come alongggg, you belongggg feel the fizzzz o' Coo-Coo Colaaaa!".  Also loved Duck Tales.  And the new Duck Tales: Remastered game is awesome!

  • I remember the thrill of waiting all week for Saturday morning cartoons.   But I also remember oversleeping and missing my favorite ones lol.
I don't know why I never thought to get an alarm clock.
I think now kids can watch cartoons any day or time of the week but back then Saturday morning was so special.
