Something weird that probably hasn't happened to anyone else

I've been bit by a penguin

My mother ran over my foot as a child

I kicked alcohol and drugs at 16 after years of abuse

I was stabbed with a pencil

In high school I went to see punk band vomit spots play and while there a bunch of skinheads showed up followed by HBO who was filming a documentary called nation of hate so there is a brief scene of me as a teenager in a documentary on nazis

  • I saw a duck tell a joke. There was a group of ducks on a pond near where I live. One duck was quacking away looking at a group of like 10 ducks then it stopped and the other ducks went mental. It looked just like duck stand up comedy.

My uncle ran over my foot as a child (young teenager) too! Led to some colorful language in the middle of a conservative area of India.
I was also stabbed with a pencil (in the knee in high school)

  • @desi_babe if only true love were determined by likeness of injuries . Sigh ...

  • A full grown wild male baboon opened the back door of my rental car when we stopped on the side of the road in South Africa. He sat in the back seat and proceeded to display his large fangs about a foot from my head and gave a hiss. My passenger was screaming. I remained calm and emotionless as I made eye contact. He looked down and saw our food bag, then took it, closing the door on the way out.

Later as I relayed the encounter to our hosts, they told us that a neighbor’s dog had barked at a baboon, after which the baboon shredded the dog - yes shredded! I guess we got lucky that day.

If you ever see a baboon, lock your doors.

  • @lovelyhugs ~ no kidding!!

I fractured both my thumbs on the same day, in the same way, but not at the same time.

I told someone I'd deck them if they called me a derogatory name one more time. After the next one I said I was serious. I always follow through on threats, so I clocked him and he dropped to the ground. Everyone there erupted in laughter, but he was out cold and it totally scared the crap out of me (note: I do not condone violence, or empty threats and I haven't decked anyone since).

I was almost hit by Ronald Reagan's limousine while crossing the road - the driver honked and swerved, but didn't slow down.

In fourth grade I had sympathy pains so severe I couldn't stand. We were at the hospital visiting a classmate who'd been crushed by a tree and was in full traction. Upon leaving, by the time we got to the elevator, I couldn't walk and was wailing in excruciating agony. An x-ray and examination revealed nothing physical, but we found out having "empathy resonance" or an "empathetic response" is fairly common, though not normally to that degree.

  • I can honestly say I don’t know any 30 year old Canadian that is a snowbird. I escape winter and head to Florida for 6 months.

My brother and I when we were 3 and 4 climbed our roof naked.

@verona your words haunt me. I hope you’re in a good place now.
    As for my unique experience:
I was enjoying the water off an uninhabited island in the Philippines. A creature bit me and I knew enough to walk to shore. Gradually, the strangest sensation spread from my leg to my lower body: pain, paralysis, and numbness. With no facilities nearby, only traditional remedies were available. Someone I didn’t know peed in a cup and applied it to my wound. Normally I would be horrified, but I did not object. Eventually I started feeling better. I don’t know if the remedy had any effect, but I wouldn’t care to put it to a test again.

@verona your strength and commitment to adapti and evolve I without hate and spite in defiance of your past is inspiring., and is only a partial reason of why I adore you as a human .

  • @spuds sounds like he time I rear ended someone and they left the scene so it was technically a hit and run but they ran

I grew up around a lot of different animals because my family owned a pet store (more like a tiny zoo) so I have had a paying job since I was 8 or 9.
I have had two male parrots (a Red Lord, and a Scarlett Macaw) claim me as mate, so super protective, jealous, cuddly, constantly preening me, and try to feed me regurgitated food. 😜

  • @Verona ~ Sending you all sorts of appreciative hugs ~ Your strong and resilient way of being is beautiful and inspiring. (((Hugs!)))

I've been in multiple car accidents (at least seven) and have had numerous concussions (three were of the "blackout" variety).

I lost my footing on a steep incline and slid with the rocks over fifty feet, before reaching and grabbing onto a large sage bush growing, at was later learned, to be the edge of a drop off over a hundred feet up.

I passed out in a hydro-tube and came to underwater at the bottom.

I got to have specialist do exploratory surgery (with his students watching) after five days in the hospital and every test done. Turns out I had a rare intestinal issue that's usually only seen in children under 2 or adults over 80. I was in my 20's.

I broke free from an assailant I'd been struggling with by shifting into an, "oh yeah, I'm into it now" role, then biting down on him (yes there) then bolting for the door to get away.

  • @verona I'm sorry to hear of your experiences. I do hope things are better for you now.

  • Tboned, im driving Was thrown out of a vehicle sucked through the passenger window going 50 mph, landed 20 feet from car, just broken ribs and lacerations, shit that was cray cray.

Accidentally had a bearded dragon death, last winter negative 50 my power went out, heat lamps went below my beardys needs, I tried to keep him near my fireplace in his screened cage and kept it wet in there w hot water to neutralize the dry heat, he didn't make it, he was 3 years old,i know that could have been his time but it was a sad time, I loved Chancho... 🦎 brought him then to my friends w other lizards and heat lamps cranked it up, he was already ill and passing.... :(

Was sleeping next to my mom on the floor incessantly thinking something was going to happen to her while she slept, no reason, had some wierd spidy senses, she had a stroke-- when i wasnt there ---my brother saved her. So wierd, and she wrote in her diary that week that she thought my dad was going to have a heart attack that week, she knew something was up too. :/ super strange...

  • I was born and raised in Arkansas, fast forward to the 90s I was in my 30s, then I was on the beach in Florida.
Another man and me struck up a conversation, he mentioned he was from Arkansas and I told him that’s where I was born and raised, it turned out after further conversation we learned not only were we born in the same state, but the same county, town, hospital, and delivered by the same Doctor, what are the odds of that happening ?

I found a photo with my parents sitting across the picnic table from my wife's grandfather in the Bahamas. 5 years before I was born. And my parents lived in NJ while her grandfather was from Ohio. They did not know each other before the meeting, and did not stay in contact since. Unfortunately, we discovered the photo while preparing for my dad's funeral, so we couldn't ask him about it.

  • @verona thank you for being brave and sharing your experiences 💜

  • I was caring for my friend's iguana while they were out of town and we were hanging out on the sofa. As he was known to do, he'd climbed onto the back of it, stood on his hind legs, and was resting the upper half of his body on my head. He did a few scritches with his feet, then settled in and was watching TV with me (or maybe sleeping, IDK).

At some point I opened a Reese's peanut butter cup pack and slid one out. But no sooner had it hit my open palm, when that fricken lizard launched off my head like a spring loaded ninja and swiped my candy! He downed the whole thing while running through the house with me chasing after him ~ For real! The brown paper wrapper and all! Gone!

I called them freaking out because I didn't know what to do. They started laughing, and "Oh yeah... Buddy does stuff like that sometimes. That's why we don't eat when he's out anymore. Don't worry though, he'll be fine after a few poops."

I was 37 years old before I was able to overcome my childhood fears and sit through Child’s Play, beginning to end.

I’ve been told at 3 different points in my life by different doctors that I “probably” had cancer...prematurely, of course. All 3 were wrong, all 3 times. This all occurred before I even turned 30.

I was so emo in high school that this guy I barely knew from a AOL chat room wrote a song about me. LOL!! He showed me the lyrics, but unfortunately, I never got to hear the song.

  • One time, a bus driver frusteratedly commented to me that I should have taken another route involving the light rail train for a quicker trip. The way he said it was a little condescending, like he was having a bad day, rather than in a helpful tone.

  • I have been to the end of a rainbow. Once as a teen I was working at subway and the end of a rainbow was literally in the parking lot . I stood in it hoping to learn unfathomable wisdoms beholden to only a chosen few . Instead a bird pooped on me

  • @pmvines wrong end I guess? Lol
