🧡🧡 30 Days of Thankfulness 🧡🧡

edited November 2020 in General

I thought a little Thankfulness thread helps boost the mood during these colder months. Couple days behind but here are my first 3 for this task....😊 Love to read your guys responses too!

Day 1: for all my friends, family, and all you amazing souls on cuddle comfort.💓💞🧡 Thankful for like minded individuals and a sense of love amongst all.

Day 2: my amazingly awesome cats, they never seize to entertain and bring me dead gifts to my doorway. 🐱 Thankful for their comfort and love.

Day 3: the little cabin on the San Juan islands is a recent favorite. Nothing but the stars, the birds, and the hot tub to pass the time. Add a hot soup and warm fire inside, now that's what I call cozy. Thankful for the experience during a chaotic time.

Comments

    1. Family and friends who love me, and don't just accept all my weird ~ they appreciate and look forward to it too!
    2. My floofy woof Pippi ~ A part of me can't stand that she goes out the cat-door (yes she's that small), soaks up the latest bit of drizzle with her sponge paws, then dashes back in, straight to my bed, quickly lays down and shoves them into my back to both warm and dry them! But it's kind of cute so... I also kind of love it. And my "Sweet Handsome" Boris, who is getting old and thin, but still will, "Mow-wow!" as loud as he can until I go love on him (usually right as I'm about to doze off...).
    3. My bed... until one of the beasts above makes themselves uncomfortably known... lol
  • 1 - Thankful for the tried and true on here. You know who you are.
    2 - I like wolves and owls, but I don't think they're the cuddle-kind.
3 - Cabin in the Sierra Nevadas, the scent of cedar and pine, a wood burning stove, a shared bottle of wine during and after a nice meal, and stepping outside to see innumerable stars.

  • Awwwwww @MissAdventurous I LOVE IT!!! It’s the 4th so I’ll jump there. ♥️♥️♥️
I’m thankful for chocolate. Can you imagine living in a world without CHOCOLATE???? 😂😂😂
Today I’m thankful for honey crisp apples though. What a fabulous invention.... feels like fall no matter how you eat an apple. 😊

  • @sillysassy - Chocolate is not really my thing, so I can live without it. I know... I'm strange.

Well Mr. Mike 403 if not chocolate then what SNACK are you thankful for??? Day 4?? (We're all strange silly!!)

@MissAdventurous I LOVE LOVE LOVE your pumpkin.... I think I just realized its puzzle pieces.... Its that autism?

I'm so thankful for YOU!!!!! I'm pretty sure we should ALL find a lovely little cabin and hot tub and stars that provide the tranquility you are speaking of. :)

  • @sillysassy - Beer & Whiskey. Just kidding. I dont know what snack I'm really thankful for.

  • Thanksgiving dinner leftovers!
    or
Apples, cheese, crackers & deli meats

  • 🧡🧡🧡DAY 5!!!!!!! A place.

I love my home. TRULY! It is my safe space. It has been many moons since I lived on my own and I have to say.... I love my space. I have plenty of wonderful places that I like to visit, but this is my sanctuary. My daughter painted this for me. It made me cry and the laugh..... EQUAL PARTS?? EQUAL???? 😂😂😂 she said “Home is where ALL of my chaos is loved and accepted” ♥️

  • @MissAdventurous I am so thankful for you. What a fabulous human you are. Thank you for helping us all remember that we have a MILLION things to be thankful for.
When I wake up in the morning, I sort of stretch and move all my parts and remind myself how lucky I am. "I'm grateful I can get up and walk!" So many things to focus our gratitude on.

    XOXOXOOXOXOXOX 😘🥰😍

  • Day 4: favorite snack would have to be pickles.... Lol 😆

Day 5: place? Anywhere that I can hear what running ... Rivers, oceans, waterfalls, ect.... And camping out... Falling asleep to the sounds of nature flowing 🙂

  • @sillysassy YOUUUUU are wonderful. I'm thankful we got to meet up with we did. They are puzzle pieces, though I did not know that was for autism awareness 🙂🙂🙂

@MissAdventurous: It's not a symbol most of us care for, mind....

    Stupid Autism Speaks.

  • ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh Day six!!!!!
A Pair of Shoes! So fun!!! hmmmmmmmm WELLLLLLLLL my favorite pair of shoes TODAY is my chacos. They are perfect for our crazy CO weather. Gorgeous, sunny days at Cherry Creek with 70 degree temps in the day time and then chilly, put your socks on night temps...... Chacos can handle ALL of it and be super cute in the process. THANKFUL..... Very thankful. 😁😊💓

  • My dad taught me how to polish his and my own cutest-little-cowboy-boots when I was just a wee lad. I liked the deliberate care he took with these boots, the smell of the shoe polish, brushing the leather with the shoe brush, and using a chamois cloth to make those brown, square-toed cowboy boots of his (and mine) shine. I haven't worn cowboy boots in years, but of all the shoes I've owned, these are my favorite.

  • Awwwwwwwww ♥️♥️♥️ @Sideon i love that memory! It’s amazing how something so basic can bring back a memory so vividly. (I also like thinking of you as a wee lad!!😊)

    What a fun thread!
Day 6: My black Skechers. Super comfortable. They don’t stand out and blend in everywhere unnoticed, kind of like me.

  • Hmmmmmmm. Day 7 Scents and 8 a restaurant....... hmmmmmmmmmm......

I LOVE LOVE LOVE scents that don't smell like food. Spices yes like cinnamon etc, but when it smells like "rasberry sorbet" I just wind up getting hungry!! hahahahaha Love clean and fresh scents that remind me of the outdoors. :)

A restaurant. I really enjoy the little diners and cafe's that are sprinkled throughout the land. No matter the genre (can I use that word as it relates to food? I say YES!!!) I would 100% rather patron a little mom and pop shop than a big chain. They have so much personality!!! I recently found a little coffee shop in Seattle (surrounded by the big green circle) and it was called "A Spoonful of Sugar". Amazing food and delicious coffee creations. The owner had pictures of Mary Poppins all over the wall and it felt so lovely in there. Lots of character and entrepreneurism which is my FAVORITE!!! 💖

    Day 7:
    Lavender, because it’s soothing.

Rose petals that I dried and sealed, 20 years ago. Everyone now and then, I breathe them in, and remember something special.

Fresh brewed coffee and bacon from the skillet. Because yummm.

Day 1: the ability to breathe and talk through a mask 12-16 hours a day.

Day 2: beating fatigue and cold sores and inflammation that kept my bones in excruciating pain for two weeks straight.

Day 3: hearing my brother's voice after being intubated for two and half weeks. Raspy but clear.

Day 4: the tumeric and lemon juice tea that helped me relieve my bone pain. I drank it piping hot for five days straight.

Day 5: my daughter found her dog alive and well after she went two weeks missing. Thanks to the kindness of an elderly stranger.

Day 6: my sister showing her love as usual and reaching out via a phone call to chat. We don't get to see or speak to each other often.

Day 7: two of my cc connections reaching out via text and phone call to check up on me. I often do that with people. It felt very validating ( unintentionally) to have it done to me. Always very much appreciated.

Day 8: another early morning power walk in cold fall weather. I just enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery at this time of year.

    1. They know who they are.

    2. I am not thankful towards any lesser animals. I'd rather have nothing at all to do with them.

    3. I don't place a ton of importance on whatever space my body might be occupying, nor do I feel especially connected to any one spot.

    4. Mayonnaise.

    5. See #3.

    6. I have never once looked down at my feet and gone "Wow, I sure am thankful for these shoes/boots!" That seems very strange to me. I bought them, which means that I weighed their potential benefits to me versus other shoes/boots, but aside from that...what?

    7. Uh. I enjoy having a sense of smell. And I enjoy the scent of the soap I use. Let's go with that, I guess.

    8. I don't go out to eat. If I had to pick one, though, I'd go with Olive Garden. Not because the food is any good, but because the existential horror I associate with the place entertains me. "Endless bread sticks" sounds like a threat that transcends this mortal coil.

    9. I would say "Amazon", because it enables me to buy things with a minimal amount of human contact, but being thankful towards a massive corporation is dumb.

Day 8: A little place in Houston called Kirin. Two words you think should never go together: Sushi and buffet. But here they do, and it’s amazing!

  • Day 9 I AM THANKFUL FOR THIS PLACE!!!! Its a community of lovely people. So many fun interesting personalities on here. like @UltimateChungus "Endless bread sticks" sounds like a threat that transcends this mortal coil. 😁

Day 10 ooooooohhhhhhhh time of day. I love the sunrise. (I love sunset too.... tough decision) I am thankful for the feeling that the day is NEW and a remembrance that this moment is all that I have. Yesterday is over and done, the future is something I cannot know, but this exact moment is where I can place my focus. I know that can happen at any moment of the day but somehow the sunrise is like a fresh blank canvas waiting to capture the events.

Day 9: CC as well. Have only been here a short while, but I’ve met some good people. It’s easier to be myself here.

Also, Wikipedia. Not necessarily for the quality of the information. But because it’s like an old reliable friend that I know I can count on.

  • Day 9: In general people who share their experiences, skills, knowledge and creativity for (almost) free. You tubers & vloggers and the like. People who go online and support strangers as best they can.
    Also pumpkin pie.

  • Day 11. Tradition.
I’m thankful for the traditions that I have with my kids. For the most part our rule of thumb is “the getting together is the most important part” I.e instead of the turkey and stuffing we might do mimosas and a waffle bar for Thanksgiving. I always want to celebrate with the people I’m close to but it might look different every year. One Christmas morning the kids and I went downtown with backpacks full of breakfast burritos in lieu of opening presents. That might be our favorite family memory to date.... ♥️

  • Every Veteran's Day, I take a Veteran out to breakfast. Sometimes it is just coffee, but it's always their choice. This year, I'm taking out a former Navy officer, masks and all, right before indoor dining options get closed down again here in the Bay area.

Thank you, Veterans, for your service.

  • Awwwwww @Sideon I LOVE THAT TRADITION!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
