Great news! Now the waiting is the hardest part. Looks like about a billion doses within a year. So excited, I’d roll up both sleeves and ask for a shot in each arm.
They said if everything goes smoothly, it should be available for emergency use by next month and widely available by early next year. It's a two dose vaccine. The second dose taken 30 days after the first.

A vaccination is great, but only 60% of doctors said they would line up for it. In addition, the Pfizer vaccine is the first that will affect the proteins in your DNA. Scary stuff. That being said, I will be first in line.

Seriously though, this may prevent you from dying of covid, but could be otherwise dangerous to your health. There’s no way to know how your body will react.
They have been doing several clinical trials. The success rate is high with no abnormalities. There will be other vaccines coming down the line as well. The likelihood of detrimental effects vs. dying of Covid falls more in favor of the vaccine. All the crazy stuff people say against vaccines is predominantly lies and falsehoods. Get the vaccine and your Big Bird band aid.
Theres only a 2 percent chance you will get covid. And a 98 percent chance you'll be fine. We dont need a vaccine

@wrench I am not going to argue with you about this, but that 2% represents nearly a quarter of a million people and it will peak and become worse in January. If you like lockdowns, don’t get the vaccine; if you want to take a giant step forward to do-called normalcy, then get the vaccine.
@wrench & @ebnb I really get where you’re coming from. No long term studies have been conducted on any of the new vaccines. There’s always risk. But I’m with @Mike403 regarding the social distancing. I don’t know how much more of it I can take. Also, I work at different customer sites every day. Always required to wear a mask. I’m happy to do it. But I’d love for all this to be over. That said, I’ll be reading every single letter of the fine print when it comes time to get the shot.

I'd be more excited about the vaccine if it wasn't the manufacturer saying: "hey look, this stuff really works!" I'd also be more excited if the pharmaceutical companies had something to lose if they screw it up. As it is right now, "some genius" in government gave them legislation that prevents them from being sued in the event any medication is improperly tested and causes harm.

And how did they get it done so fast? I don't recall who exactly, but I think Pfizer was one of the labs recruiting people for an 18 month to 2 year c-19 vaccine study. It's only been a few months, so...? How can we trust it?
@ebnb - The risk of COVID is also real. You have to weigh risks vs rewards. If it's more risky not to take the vaccine, then I think it's worth taking a chance.
@quixotic_life - It will continue to be studied, but since we are in a pandemic emergency, we cant wait too long for it. We'll have to take our chances with a rushed vaccine rather than taking our chances with COVID.
Lol... all of you jumping at the chance for the vaccine please 🙏🏾 post again if you do or don’t have side affects from the vaccine. 🤔think I will wait two years, if I get it at all, so as to give them a chance to work out the kinks.

Umm... @Mike403 ~ I may need some serious convincing... I don't like the FDA's track record or what feels like "fear based tactics" used in this reasoning. Whoever comes up with the vaccine stands to gain billions ~ the lack of oversight was shaky before, but now...? I'm just skeptical and don't trust any of the current "experts" appointed within the last 3.5 years or so to keep us safe.
@quixotic_life one thing they cannot have tested is the long-term effects. What's their plan if the vaccine loses effectiveness after say 6 months or a year?? Annual booster shots? And I don't mean just because of a coronavirus mutation. Our immune systems work by "learning" to combat illnesses by fighting off a mild form of each one. If this vaccine works by fiddling with proteins, will our immune systems be able to assimilate that method and replicate it? I don't know and I'd like to find out before getting vaccinated.

Really I am scared for any that take the vaccine.
But I'm stoked there are people willing to go for it! If I hadn't had crazy reoccurring lung infections over the last few years, I may have lined up too! But instead, I'll probably be wearing a mask for years to come, just to be safe. 😷
@quixotic_life - Fortunately, not everybody needs to get it to achieve herd immunity. I'll be one of them to get it. I'm more worried about my isolation and mental health than any vaccine side-effects.

You know, I've beta tested games before and was happy to do so, but that was video games. This is dealing with a persons health. What are the long term effects? Hard pass until long term studies have been done on it. I don't want to be the guinea pig in their lab experiment.

I'm leery of vaccines and medications that have been rushed to market. I understand they're in a rush due to the pandemic, but I'm not sure if there has been enough time to do thorough enough testing with it. We won't know long-term effects until the long term. What if you end up getting cancer or something due to the covid vaccine?
@FlyingToaster - Well, you don't have to take it right away. In order for them to test it, they have to inject it into thousands of participants anyway. I thought about signing up to actually be one of their test subjects.
