Why do people not like the visitor notification?

I saw on one thread that someone said they don't like being able to see who has visited their page.  The only reason I can see for this would be that they feel rejected if someone visits but doesn't message them.  I just wanted to tell you, if that is why you don't like the feature, let it go.  I'm very cute and I have many people visit my site and not message me.  I have no idea why, but it doesn't matter.  I go visit their sites and if they seem like someone I might like I reach out to them.  If you take the visitor feature away, that option is gone.

  • Dear All, Please @mark do not do away with the visitor notification, this has opened up so many conversations for me and no way do I feel rejected by them if they do not contact me.
It allow's you a small insight into there thoughts and wants.
Love to all John and his trees, Auckland NZ
  • I only feel annoyed if I see that a person visited my profile after I sent a message, but did not bother to reply back. I usually message only people in my area and don't expect everyone to start a conversation after just visiting my profile.

For mjjjean.1998 :  this explanation may help explain why you get many visitors to your page , and not get messages from them . But it may not be the only reason .
When I use my phone , , and scroll through the discussions , when I touch the phone screen to scroll , if I am not careful , and my thumb hits a persons screen name , their profile page appears on my phone ,by accident .  Then , of course , my profile photo is now in their visitor chart , like I intended to visit , which I really wasn't . Perhaps there are many phone users out there doing the same .
Of course , that is only correct if you frequently participate in discussions ,and you are the most recent  . Another problem I have is when I search for cuddlers, and they appear in a list of search results , I will scroll through them and oops , it happens again . I'm a visitor without intending to be a visitor.
  • Ideally, I think the best thing would be to have an optional checkbox, where you can select to turn "on" and "off" Visitors.

When you have visitors turned on, people can see when you visit their profile, and you can see when people visit your profile.

When you turn off visitors, people will not see you visit their profile, and you will not see who visits your profile.
  • Personally, I think it is great to see who took the time to check out your profile.  It is the equivalent of sharing a smile with someone passing by -- you don't know why they decided to smile at you, but it is nice to have piqued their interest and have that simple acknowledgement.  Pretty cool.  :o)

@mjjean1998 Well for one, you don't have a pic on your profile. So how do visitors know if you're cute or not?
  • I end up clicking on profiles if I can't remember the persons handle.  Sometimes, if I'm reading the forums, I remember the person's handle but I can't remember their profile so I refresh my memory by looking at their profile again. I have a horrible time with names and handles so until I get it locked into my memory I might look like a stalker. LOL
...actually, that might be a reason why someone wouldn't want the visitor option.  If they like to look at somebody's pictures and see if they put up any new pictures then they might end up looking like a stalker and things could get weird. I know I would feel weirded out if that happened to me.  But to be honest I would just message that person and say that I noticed that they visited my profile frequently. Then if I found out they were just trying to see if I put up any new pictures I would let them know that if I do I would contact them so they don't have to worry about it anymore.  Then I would ACTUALLY contact them when I put up new pictures! I'm a teacher so I strongly believe in and say what you mean and mean what you say!

The visitors option makes Cuddle Comfort look a lot like a dating website. We are not on a dating website. OkCupid and POF both have visitors features. Naive users will just think that CC is a dating website. I have personally come across profiles that think this is a dating site. It also makes me feel awful when I send a woman a message and she visits my profile without responding.

Cuddle bandit didn't you see jeans picture of her wearing the pink dress , with her arm in arm around the guy in the blue suit ? She's cute !
  • @cuddlebandit, I would have a photo if there was a way to maintain anonymity with it.
  • I like the visitor section.. Its useful

@mjjean1998 Did you have pictures up before? You're not making any sense. You wrote that you don't know why users won't respond. Well you don't have any pics as of now. Wondering if you had some pictures before.
  • I did.  I blurred the faces but I was concerned that they still looked too much like me and that someone who actually knew me would be able to recognize me so I took them down.

You also come across as very self-centered and egotistical by calling yourself, cute and attractive. Your profile states that you're married. You should just go back to your marriage and children. I'm sure Jesus is very proud that you're looking for men other than your husband to cuddle with.
  • Judgmental much?  Geez.  All I said was that I like the visitor feature and I don't think people should be turned off by it and somehow now I'm a narcissist.  Be well.
  • @CuddleBandit just because someone is married doesn't necessarily mean that they are monogamous. I agree with @mjjean1998 that you are being unnecessarily judgemental, and this doesn't seem like the place for that.

Personally, I really like the visitor feature. I hope it sticks around. Sometimes, I see repeat visitors and that makes me feel good, like perhaps I'm interesting enough to check out. If I write someone and don't receive a response from them, it doesn't really bother me much at all. I've been guilty of not writing people back in a timely manner, myself, so I figure everyone else deserves to be cut the same slack. ;)
  • I really like the visitor feature and I too hope it stays. If some people don't like it, it should be allowed to be turned off in the settings.
  • I like the visitor feature and hope it stay's.

    Left Side: "KEEP IT!"

    Right Side: "KEEP IT!"

    Altogether: "KEEP IT!"

  • I think that the visitor feature should either be removed or we should have the option that allows the people we are visiting to know whether we have been there or not.

    OkCupid.

Flip a switch so you can view invisibly - but you also can't see who visits you.

Flip the switch again and people can see you've visited them and you can see who's visited you.

    Definitely do not remove altogether.

It brightens my day to see photo-less profiles visit me.

I am fine either way but I know on my phone I often accidentally visit when navigating a forum. So if j visit you a few times in a few minutes I am probably on my phone and being clumsy lol so don't read to much into it. Lol

I visit for a variety of reasons, just to validate the town/city with state or county....validate commenter with name/face and even if it is male or female...
  • It is annoying when you message people and you can see they've then looked at your profile and not replied but at same time if we didn't have the visitor notification then, short of stalking someone you've messaged to see if they've been online since, how else would you know they're likely not going to message you back?

The only thing I guess I don't like is that because I mostly use this site on my phone, I've sometimes accidentally clicked on someone's profile and it'll then show I've looked at their profile even if I click back literally half a second later, which might suggest I'm interested when I'm not. Not that I'd want anything to change because of that, just an annoying thing about the visitor notification is all.
  • Yes I visit to read bios and to also check gender because it's not available in the little tag line summary under visitors.. among other reasons.

i like that flipping a switch idea above.
  • Personally I visit to read bios and look at pics, even if I have already just because I might be bored, or particularly intrigued by someone, or just forget about them so I need a refresher. Also I have met some folks here who I genuinely consider to be friends, at least to the extent of friendship the internet will allow, and when you are friends with someone you like to see them but if you don't get to actually ever see them, its nice to see their pics every now and then. Just adds to the sense of connection.
  • @mark, Please, Please, Please do not change the Visitors section. it works for so many exellant reasons, of all the posts on here there is no good reason to change it.
