I need a new mattress . I would like to here anyone’s recommendations on what you cuddle and sleep on . While your at it what’s your whole setup . Mattress on a box spring ? Mattress on bed frame with no box spring just pallet biards across ?
I usually pick my bed depending on the look of how I want to have my room be. I like interior design so I first decide colors and looks then just go find what I'm looking for. I even do that in interior design apps lol where I just design it my way first then look at the requirements after to make small adjustments that still keep my colors and style I already made. I think most people go to those mattress places and just lie down on a mattress to get the feel for it. But luckily for me I can sleep on literally any mattress as long as it's in good shape and not ruined. So it really depends on your style. What works for you?
I love my mattress from Denver Mattress. It's their brand, Doctors Choice, with the Eurotop. A cuddle buddy has the same one by coincidence. It is very comfortable for cuddling! Mine is mattress on box spring on floor. Buddy has his on a frame.
I slept on a bed of roses until the petals wilted, fungus set in and the spores released caused breathing problems. So I recommend something hypoallergenic.
I recommend memory foam. Try to find one that does not have any toxic flame retardants added to it, as per label sample below. This advice also applies to regular mattresses.
Sleep Number FTW! Adjust head/foot height as well as bed firmness/softness to your liking, tracks your sleep and gives you insights through the app. About as customizable as they come
I got a Purple mattress last year and absolutely love it. I know mattress preference can vary widely by person but Purple definitely changed the way I sleep.
Ooh! A topic where I can add value! I have experience in the commercial and manufacturing side of mattress sales (multiple brands).
First - there are three basic kinds of mattresses - inner spring (I.e. Serta), air (I.e. sleep number) and foam / compressed in a box (purple). Lay on them before you buy as all three are quite different. Or... make sure there is a liberal return policy.
Mattress companies make it difficult to compare apples to apples. One company in particular sells about 8 different kinds of inner spring mattresses, but has over 80,000 SKUs. Change a stitching thread or stitching pattern - that’s a new SKU with a new name and price point. Shenanigans!
Regardless of the type of mattress, DO NOT ever buy one at full price. Mattresses usually go on sale 6 times a year (it’s an industry standard), and the markups on mattresses are so absurd it’s obscene. Unless you are in crisis, DO NOT pay full price!!!
For the record, I have 3 beds: A sleep number, a foam mattress from Amazon.com (Revol, I think) and a regional brand dual sided inner spring.
Hope this was helpful.
For sleeping I’m a devoted fan of the sleep number bed. Economically, it’s slightly more expensive, but it lasts longer than a traditional mattress, And if you consider the customization of the firmness available for both sides - I find I get more value out of this bed over the 15-20 years you’ll have it.
For cuddling, I tend to prefer a foam mattress. It’s soft, flexible, and easy to sink into. It’s relaxing for me to lie on and seems to add to the safe, comfortable, enveloping experience. I find Purple is a good one, but it’s made from a more mesh-like structure, and that might create an adjustment period for some people. Skip Tuft & Needle. They got bought by a major brand and have since lost their roots. Like I said before, I got a mattress from Amazon and have been pleased with their private label mattress.
Thanks to all . Not only do I need a new mattress , I’m looking to alleviate some back pain . I can go to the PCP and he will first prescribe some flexeril , then perhaps there will be the MRI s , CT scans. Etc .
I own a Maxim Embrace memory foam mattress that I use for sleep and cuddling. My bed frame is built into the RG I rent. Directly underneath my mattress is plywood boards supported by 2x4s bolted to the floor. For use in an apartment or house I’d recommend using this mattress with a trundle bed frame that has legs. I would not recommend using it with a box spring.
I have a medium with inner springs and a pillow top. It's amazing!
I sleep on a mattress from LinenSpa. It's affordable, durable, and comfortable. It's similar to memory foam, but not as prone to making you overheat.
I don't know brands, all I know is I need something softer than what I have, with a pillow top, and a pillow top cover. I need all the softness. My hands actually get stiff at night unless they are on one of my pillows, and that never lasts long.
Purple, its the best! I have a the purple 4 at home and an original purple in my office. I also have the original purple pillows and the harmony pillows as well.
Purple Beds all the way, with adjustable base.
I just finished three weeks at an Airbnb with the nectar mattress. That's what I'm getting. I fell in love. 💜 But I'm pretty petite. 😇
I've had a Sleep Number bed for a long time. Works pretty well for me.
I think I need to get a Cariloha (they make stuff from bamboo, like shirts for instance) mattress. The pillows I have are great and super soft.
