Ever changed your username? Or thought about it?

I've been thinking about changing mine to match up with my practise, and I'm not sure if I can take the plunge. I'm really attached to being known as Catloaf around here. :'( It's also a very enthusiast-based username that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I dunno guys, I can't let it go, but I almost wanna!

How about you? What was your old username if you changed it, and why? Do you miss it?

  • Catloaf, keep your username. Maybe if you feel compelled to change it, you can make it something like Cuddleloaf.

  • @DaytonCuddler I have the name in mind, it would actually match up with my website name. But I just find Catloaf such a darn cute and cuddly word.

  • @Catloaf - This comes to mind when I think of Catloaf.

  • @Mike403 That's EXACTLY what it is.

  • I've thought about it. I'm originally from the UK but I've lived in the USA for the majority of my life. Some people have messaged me thinking I was in the UK, despite the fact my profile says I'm in Arizona.

  • I changed mine because I originally used my screen name I use for everything and someone added me on snap chat and it made me uncomfortable. So I changed it to something cuddly that made me feel happy

  • I think it's good that your username isn't identical to the name of your website. It's a reminder that you're an individual rather than just a business entity. That's pretty much always going to be a good thing, and doubly so in this kind of setting where even business is very personal.

Mark is a good example of this. He doesn't wear the name of his website, and as a result he can interact with the community as a fellow member of the community. There's a real person behind this site, and I that doubt anybody looks down on him for that.

I've always liked my own name. It reflects something that's been important in my life, it's always available (I'm almost the only Mailleweaver in the world), and since I'm able to keep the same name everywhere it gives me a sense of continuity of self that I think most people miss out on with the anonymity of their various online personas vying for brain space. It's good for me to be myself no matter where I am, and it helps me to remember to act like a decent human being.

  • I changed mine because my original one was based on what I was doing for work at the time. My current name reflects more of a permanent aspect of my attitude and character.

@Catloaf I know it's ultimately your choice to change your name, but I hope you don't! I really like your name.

I chose my current screen name without much thought because I wasn't sure how long I'd stick around (I'd had other accounts before which I deleted). But "squeakytoy" has grown on me, so I don't think I'll change it. :relaxed:

What about Catloafcuddles or Procatloaf? I am not sure what practice you are trying to match, though you can probably make it work.

I probably thought of it for like a split second. Though I like my username so don't really feel like changing it.

I changed mine shortly after I joined and I don't recall the first one. I stold it from an obscure experimental sound collage group on Illegal Art Records.

  • Cuddle comfort made me change mine a while back, it was either that or be banned so I changed it and to be honest I like my new name.

  • Nah...I'm good with my username and besides I worked too hard for it! πŸ˜‰

    snap snap 🀌🀌

Lol!😊 Not really, I just wanted to say that.πŸ˜‹πŸ€

  • I used to be "MrDaveDave". Didn't like it much tbh.

    @DaveTheBrit maybe SuperDaveBrit or SuperBritDave

  • I've been using @interalia626 for profiles on all platforms since 2017 or 2018. I'm pleased with it. It's a nod to an imo underrated album from my favorite band At the Drive-In and also I just find it an aesthetically pleasing phrase.

  • I wanted to keep mine simple, so I just added my home state. I now live in FL, which I mentioned in my profile.
I find it funny most people don’t know WV is a separate state, they think it’s still Virginia.

  • @waynewv "Virginia is a country in North America consisting of five states: North Virginia, South Virginia, East Virginia, West Virginia, and Virginny."

Dummy that I am, I was reading your user name as "Way New V" and not "Wayne WV" until now.

  • @interalia626 , there is only the state of Virginia and then West Virginia, only 2 states with the name of Virginia in it

  • @waynewv I know, the above was a joke I'd read somewhere a long time ago.

  • @interalia626 , oh ok, have a great new year and hoping we all have more cuddles

@catloaf - What would you want to change your username to?

  • I changed mine from sunshine to pty1999. Most don't seem to understand what it stands for . What do you all think it stands for?

  • Party like it's 1999 I assume. LOL

I started with a different username that I used for lots of other stuff because I didn't know how long I would stick around. Then someone was able to look me up by Googling that username. Freaked me out, so I changed it.
