  • @JustaGuySNJ - "...The faintest whiff of Axe Body Spray is a deal breaker..."

    Exactly. This is 100% both accurate and hilarious.

  • I have a bionic nose and smell is the best way to both win me and lose me. My favorite cuddle buddy smells like the inside of a guitar case. How does he do that?

    My worst olfactory cuddle experience was someone who used super strong laundry soap. I felt asphyxiated. I'm not chemically sensitive in that I'll get actually ill from it, but sensitive enough to find it wildly unpleasant. I'm happy to talk about it and see what can be done, but if someone can't alter an offending smell (usually some chemical thingy like laundry soap or cologne or whatever), I can't cuddle. It nullifies the good parts with something I just can't bear.

    I hate cologne, perfume, and strong scents. It has led to me meeting one time and deciding against meeting again a few times.

  • Ask first. I get sick from most fragrances and it’s important to me that cuddle buddies not wear them.

    Always check. I am very allergic to some perfumes and will get horrible, banging migraines around certain perfumes and aftershaves (Thierry Mugler- Alien, Marc Jacobs-Dot and Clinique- Happy to name a few)

    Some scents are enough to make me go temporarily blind in my peripheral vision, so it's always nice if the other person checks first. That's not a fun evening.

  • I am a bit of a scent enthusiast from perfumes to scented candles to the expansive essential oil collection in my office. I learned that with perfume you only need one spray on each side of the neck and I only wear very light, floral perfumes. I have had no complaints thus far and many compliments. With essential oils I always ask if the other person enjoys aromatherapy. I think the issue with colognes are the strong musky scented ones like Tom Ford for example. A tasteful yet subtle scent will be pleasant for most except for those with allergies to perfume. In my experience most people disclose scent allergies in advanced but maybe I am wrong.

  • I fine a lot of people say they are allergic to things because they dislike them , not because they are actually allergic

  • @pmvines Lol hilarious but a very good point!

    @pmvines I think I'm legitimately allergic to BS, any ideas on where I can get tested? :mrgreen:

    I happen to love a subtle fragrance when I’m cuddling with someone. Anything in excess is unwelcome. But a pleasant scent makes the experience more enjoyable. And it makes the memory more permanent in my mind. Years later, a scent I remember can bring back a beautiful moment. To those that prefer the “au naturel” scent, to each their own. To me it’s OK but not my favorite when I first get together with someone. Having said that, If I have an emotional connection to someone then of course I enjoy their natural scent. Not necessarily because their scent is inherently pleasant. But because that scent is a link to someone I care about.

    @squeakytoy
    You can purchase a can of bullshit repellant online. I have several of them.
