Really loving the responses on this post 🌌 😄
@xandriarain … you have a third chance, Bitcoin was 1st, Eth was 2nd, & if you missed out on those 2, this will be the 3rd (will pm it to you) as to not take over the chat with un-related stuff : )
Don't worry so much about how other people are feeling, take care of you.
Thank you all for your input and comments to younger self! This was a great thread to read and reflect.
You are loved!
Stay safe ✌🏾💗🤗
@SafeSpace99 absolutely awesome thread🙏🏼Thank you for starting this & I loved your post 🫂😘 @NicoSnuggs may I copy paste & print yours to put on my wall? Pretty please!! If I get a time machine I’ll do all the above also One more thing to tell my 18 yr old self “DO NOT marry him” 😂😂
Socializing gets easier with practice. Go out there and be your awkward self--it's an investment in making future social interaction easier. You've chosen good people to surround yourself with; know that they appreciate and support you, and understand where you're coming from because they're battling their own insecurities too.
Most people are just as lost as you are when it comes to dating and romance. Don't overthink it.
Don't overthink a whole lot of things, for that matter.
Acknowledge that you're an introvert. In order to be yourself, you need occasional time away from people to recharge. Most of the time attending just part of an social function is perfectly acceptable; you can excuse yourself, and you don't have to explain why. (Don't forget to emerge from seclusion when you're ready, though.)
Pursue a broader range of hobbies. Remember how you enjoyed ballroom dancing in college? Keep exploring that. Tennis? Stick with it, even if just casually. Drums? Get some practice pads and jam out to your favorite music; you can refine technique some other time. Read something purely for pleasure once in a while, even if it's light and fluffy.
Checklists don't just keep you organized and on top of tasks; they give you extra satisfaction from getting things done.
When you meet someone you idolize or otherwise hold in high regard, don't go overboard praising them. Express your gratitude or admiration sincerely and concisely, then treat them as an ordinary person.
Hold your head high. Pretend to be confident; it won't be mistaken for arrogance, I promise. (Disclaimer: applies to in-person interaction only.)
And remember: this, too, shall pass.
(PS: Stop overusing parentheses and semicolons; you don't need so many.)
Spend less time trying to fix yourself . You're not broken
Take a moment to ask, “One day will I regret doing/not doing_______?”
I’ve typed and deleted many things, but the main thing would be don’t sacrifice yourself for those that will hurt you. Take care of yourself above everything. You are strong and you are worthy.
Don’t hold back. Go out there and show the world who you are. Don’t miss out on the good stuff because you’re shy or unconfident. You deserve everything!
Own your own business. Be your own boss. Don’t wait till you’re 30 ! It’s not that hard
That thing you always want to do? Do it now.
Save at least one voicemail of someone important to you - you never know their final day, but their voice will be a treasure. My Mom was Eeyore in life, but the sound of her voice makes me smile every time.
Be around people that make you laugh. And when you do laugh, do so with abandon.
I know this is supposed to be advice to our younger self, but all of you are giving me inspiration at the present time. It’s never to late to start. Thank you! 😌
I'm loving all these responses!!!
Thank you all for sharing!!! 💗💗💗💗
Be like the positive feedback loop of oxytocin and always think about how I can get more than I give away and there will always be more
What that look like is vastly different depending on inherent power dynamics from the beginning…
@Sideon everything you wrote- on point exactly
Thank you
@Sideon I was visiting a patient in their home last week whose mother passed away a few mo ago . We were talking about his grief and coping strategies s, and one of the things he does to get him through a hard day is to play a voicemail from his mother from last year wishing him a happy birthday. It was a special message because she told him how proud she had always been of him, how much she loved him and how she knew that after she is gone he will be able to carry on their family traditions etc.
@Sideon @pmvines Agree, we use to say in Brazil - "to suddenly drop dead, all you need is to be alive". I wanted to fly home and see my dad in 2013, planning on arriving on a Friday morning. Then on Tuesday night of that week, he had dinner, watched TV, went to bed and never woke up. I still have a letter he wrote me when I was a freshman in college.
I would say *The only thing you really lose in life is time, everything else goes for that ride * buy when things are green and they will eventually turn ripe * retirement money needs to compound, every 6 years to double, start early, * Find the ability to connect with as many people as possible, its a blessing, it adds to the richness in life * beg, borrow and steal and buy the burned out bldg for 50k, it will be worth 500 times that 10 years later lol. * You have what it takes, go slow, go steady, go far
*be the person you are, be you 😊
*I love who you have become.
*positivity wins, so does the turtle.
to suddenly drop dead, all you need is to be alive
@Maverick07 This is a really good quote! I'm stealing it. Thanks.
*Talk less. Listen more.
*Don’t react to words without thinking about them.
You obviously haven’t watched shark week programming. Turtles are on the menu.
@squeakytoy how are you, my dear? My agent will contact you about the royalties - just kidding!! Have a lovely day!
@SafeSpace99 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! What a beautiful thread!!!! WOW!!!! I have so many exclamation points in me right now!!! 😊
There are so many ideas and thoughts on here that I can appreciate and align with. I think my younger self needed to hear "you are loveable" Not just loved. WORTH loving!! I have had to go back and apologize to little sillysassy many many times for the things I taught her to believe.
Thank you!!!! So many hugs out to you.
Literally the best thread I’ve ever come across in the forum (& think I ever will) 🌌 ♥️ should be stickied! ☺️😊
Enjoy the journey, focus on the joyful moments, love more, don't forget you're beautiful even when you don't feel it, be kind to yourself always.
