Did your dreams change?

What did you wanted to do as a kid growing up, versus what do you want to do & accomplish now…

As a kid my dreams kept changing, as an adult my dreams keep changing. As a kid I had ADHD and as an adult I still have ADHD and I’m all over the place. As a kid I wanted really aspirational stuff like being the president or a famous actress or fashion designer. Now I just want the path of least resistance.

Yup! I went from wanting to be a chef or writer, to wanting to be an artist, to wanting to be a game designer/developer, to wanting to be someone who consistently has the energy to get through a full day lol.

  • @Zundar i genuinely wanted to be a chef as a kid as well, that was my dream, I grew up on the food network / channel & loving my moms cooking & forever watching her cook 😄

I barely boil eggs now 😒

  • I wanted to be a poet. I wanted to live in the forest. I wanted to live in such a way that I could be my authentic self, and not have to pretend to be anything else.

  • And you’re one of the very few people I know for fact!, Is living their dreams 🌌 Mela_B

  • I wanted to be a lawyer. Then I started writing just before junior high and I was fortunate enough to be able to make a living at it after college.

  • @WriterGF really glad you’re doing something you’re passionate about, something you enjoy! 🌌

  • Remarkably mine has stayed pretty much the same since I was 5 years old.

Although I did end up in my second choice of career. I gave it a good 6-year try before finally realizing I could not make the kind of money I needed to training horses.

So I kept horses as a hobby and now 27 years in to my lifetime career. Changing jobs over the years but continually staying in the same industry. For the last 11 years I've actually been in one of the specialized segments that actually pays pretty good.

And I never wanted to follow a traditional path in life, getting married and having kids. I always thought I would find the ideal partner that wanted the same.

Never did find the ideal partner, although tried a few times. That's pretty much something I've decided really doesn't exist for me.

I did manage to get my dream home in 2008, it turned out to a huge expensive mistake. Sold it in 2014 and again, went with my second dream home that is turning out to be the best fit for me.

Good dogs, good horses, good friends and good books. Dont really need much to make me happy.

The last person of color who had a dream got assassinated, so I'm wary of dreams.

  • @KYtranspant thats a beautiful journey, & both your 2nd choices (as far as careers & home) turned out to be such a blessing 🌌

@cuddles_ndream I’m a half decent cook and love it, the issue for me is that being a chef wouldn’t suit me at all personality-wise and would probably be an awful experience with how stressful it is.

I was inspired by the garden one of my grans had, I wanted to be a chef with my own restaurant specialising in/only serving lettuce dishes. Suffice to say that part didn’t stick around for long.

  • @Zundar life is so ironic like that, my first “real job” I signed up to be a cook, I didn’t get it but it turned out yo be a blessing in disguise - why? Because I would have yo be cooking for 5000 people 3 times a day lol 😂 I’m a veryyyy hot kitchen with no breaks in between (if you’re not cooking you’re prepping / if you’re not prepping you’re cooking) I would have been a bit miserable & not enjoying it.

My dreams haven’t changed - just the way I’d like to achieve them.

  • When I was a little girl I wanted to be either a ballerina or a cowgirl. I became a social dancer and a construction electrician.

When I was in middle school I wanted to become a nun and a physical therapist. I ended up becoming a massage therapist and for awhile worked in the hospital on the same grounds as the convent I wanted to enter.

My dreams evolve. Right now my dream is to be able to return to social dancing.

The only dream I remember having is wanting to play the drums. I would still love to be a full time paid drummer. I play regularly and get paid gigs from time to time, but not enough to make even a part time go of it.

  • I always knew I wanted to help. As a child, I wanted to be a doctor. I was a CNA for a little while and initially went to school for pre-med. I decided to change into education because I wanted to help the little ones and I love teaching.❤️
Cuddling and helping people in this community is the 🍒 on top.

  • When I was a young kid, growing up at the farm I'd think of it as a safe place, and "wouldn't starve to death". I ended up going all the way through grad school in a different country, and have done things through work (still ag-related) that I've never expected.
On a more personal level, I dreamt of meeting someone for rest of my life but never thought of (or desired) having kids. I'm on my own, pretty OK, but have a daughter that means the world to me; a type of love that only a parent can relate to.
