Favorite Dave Chappelle skits

edited January 2022 in General

Lmao, one of my favorites would have to be the Rick James saga!

What are some of yours?

I love Dave as an artist and a human being. All ground great guy. 🙂

Growing up, as a person of color, I love how Dave addressed racism through his humor. I'm pretty sure that upset a lot of racist folks and probably still does. Rock on, Dave!

  • Um...? Anyone else detect a whiff of doubling-down in the air...?

That said, in his latest on Netflix he seems to be coming round to taking ownership of his influence and past, as well as leaning in towards repair...

But he still doesn't seem very cuddly...

@quixotic_life I'd prefer to keep politics out of this thread and keep it focused on the genius of his comedy. 🙂

Call me crazy but I refuse to give in to fake, manufactured outrage that was cooked up against him recently.

As a person of color, growing up in poverty, Dave was and still is a hero to many of us.

  • @MCcuddles2 😅 Classic! In my eyes, none of his other skits will ever top the Rick James saga 😂😂

    @quixotic_life

    I smell it, too.

Anyways, I remembering enjoying Chappelle's Show when I was younger. A lot of the skits remain hilarious. But, ya know, he's still a bit of a douche.

But hey, that's how people work. It doesn't take a huge stretch of one's imagination to realize such a thing. Unless you have the mind of a child and are into hero worship—to the extent that you're willing to discount the feelings of an entire group of people who get crapped on for having the audacity to exist.

  • Clayton Bigsby the Black White Supremacist was probably the best in my eyes.

  • @MCcuddles2 this is the skit that made Charlie Murphy a star! (Everyone stopped referring to him as Eddie Murphy’s brother) & Dave Chappelle reached superstardom lol, but decided to walk away from a $50 million dollar deal from Comedy Central because they wanted to take away his creative control … fast forward to today & he made $60 million off of just 3 stand up specials with Netflix (the 1st 3) talk about the stars lining up for someone, twice! 😅

  • @supadupa is that the 1 where he was a blind kkk member & had no idea he was black, & once he regained his vision went & divorced his wife for marrying a black person, (him) lol

  • edited January 2022

@CuddleDuncan the world values him. Which is clear based on what you just stated. He is more popular than ever and scoring netflix deals.

For me, in addition to standing up against racism, he also stood up for discrimination against Muslims. Basically a champion of marginalized groups. In addition to being a comedic genius.

  • @cuddles_ndream yes but he didn’t regain hi vision he just found out the truth, and yes that’s the most delicate way of saying why he divorced his wife.

  • @quixotic_life: You're far from the only one.

Anyway. Personally, I don't plan on ever settling down to a nice evening of appreciating the parts of Dave Chappelle's comedy that spread harmful ideas.

Shame there are so many of those.

    @DaringSprinter

Oh! I'd completely forgotten about the skit where Chappelle mocks the women who were sexually assaulted by Nelly!

    Hilarious! Truly a hero.

But not actually. Unless you hate women, or something.

  • Personally from his last special I thought it was touching how he had his friend (who was trans) open up for his comedy tour and then the trans community bullied one of their own to suicide and how he plans to give her daughter a large sum of money when she turns 18. Now that’s what caring about a friend is lol about, not hashtags and bullying people to the point of no return.
There’s no people meaner than the left unfortunately, the so-called activist community that will break eggs no matter what the cost.

  • Black White Supremicist, Rick James Charlie Murphy’s Real Life Stories, Prince 👑 playing Basketball 🏀 and etc.

@MCcuddles2 - do not post conversations in threads. Ever. From here forward, do not engage with @HogboblinZwei or @DaringSprinter , and vice versa. [-Sid]

  • At least he didn’t suggest you kill yourself. Growth!!

  • edited January 2022

@SpooniesBack yeah, for sure. It's a step above encouraging me to kill myself, which he has done to other members in the past.

I'm in a mentally good place. I can only imagine the impact of his words on the emotionally vulnerable people he goes after.

I can't imagine what it's like to live with so much hate in one's heart.

Not to blame a victim, but can you share what you wrote prior to those responses??

    Adding offensiveness...

I don't know what it is exactly, but the term "dumb cunt" makes me chuckle. Could be related to Ricky Gervais or Jimmy Carr or... well, IDKW... but something about it tends to turn my frowns upside down.
    Yay for "dumb cunts"! 🤗

    including this one

  • @SuperManCuddles prince playing basketball 🤦‍♂️ 🔥🔥🔥 he said they didn’t even bother to change into basketball gear, played just like that & still dominated 😂

  • Wow @MCcuddles2 even I didn’t predict that. I did at there’s no one meaner than the left (activists) like I said for people who tell us to think about marginalized communities (trans, but not autistic, according to some) it’s do as I demand or else.

  • edited January 2022

@quixotic_life sure, I'll share the whole chat history when I get home.

  • Cool. And I replied to your PM.

@supadupa to be clear, I consider myself left wing and I support equality and respect for Trans persons.

I also love Dave, and I think that the outrage against him is manufactured.

  • @MCcuddles2 left wing is fine it’s the activists that are mean. I have no problems with trans people and I’ve cuddled with non-binary people, I don’t like bullies though and people who only care bout themselves and their causes while stomping over other people.

  • @supadupa so what's that make Westboro Baptist church? Or the KKK?

  • edited January 2022

Ok, it started with a discussion about Tesla. Where our friend went into a rage or personal attacks and then went on this weird tangent about Tesla having relations with birds.

Instead of responding to the attack, I sent a picture of a bird.

The pattern then started of him spewing vitriol and me responding with one liners or a picture, because I don't want invest effort into the troll.

Do not post conversations. Ever. [-Sid]

  • I love Dave Chappelle! Comedic genius. Now I gotta watch his show again tonight lol

  • @MCcuddles2 idk who this person is to you but you should block or report them.

  • @cuddles_ndream Yes!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥pancakes”🥞 lol

  • 😅 lololol 😂

  • @Sashamcgee the left has all the power in the country, they control Hollywood, academia, media, government, you name it but anyway to answer your question
Westboro is a joke and is one family and a few knuckle dragging friends but if you look what that idiot says he is actually a (wait for it) a socialist. Which makes him left wing. He was kicked out of his church because of his hate and Commie ideals. So he formed his own fake little church.
The KKK which holds no power and is a joke and only mentioned every 4 years via David Duke (trotted out by CNN and MSNBC to try and tie him to the right) I gues you can call them far right fringe, but no one cares about them or notices them except democrats to use a a straw man. Even Richard Spencer who is supposed to be on the right is actually a big government socialist.
