EDIT!!!! I forgot to say welcome to the site!! 😊
This is a very interesting topic. It brings up all sorts of interesting questions for sure.
AS AN ENTHUSIAST..... If a specific position is something that you were hopeful to do because it made you feel like you were in a safe space and that you were accepted and appreciated, valued for who you are as a human in this world... Welllllllll in my mind, that is what we do with every single touch that we are looking for on this site. No matter if we got love in our youth from our significant people or not.
In my mind..... to try and create a scenario that REPAIRS damage done by another is not something that we as cuddlers can accomplish. I feel like YOU are the only that heal your past hurts.
I agree with @WriterGF
It sort of sounds to me like something that should be explored with a trained psychotherapist, not a cuddle partner.
I am meaning that the healing part (Not necessarily the hugging part) might come in part from someone trained to guide you through some healing. Whether Pro or Enthusiast... if there was a big emotion triggered and some ptsd involved, would you really want someone so uneducated to help with that process?
Role playing to find healing.... different power dynamic Like @Sideon mentioned.... Doesn't seem like the thing that is what CC is about.
I know there are a LOT of opinions about this specifically, but I really align with the idea that no-one else can HEAL us. That comes from within.
Please don't misunderstand that I don't feel nurtured or cared for... Paternal or maternal feelings sometimes arise.... Especially.... ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CUDDLE WITH AN OLD SUPER OLD REALLY OLD amoeba like @FunCartel 😂
@Odinson87: So it's therapeutic, but not therapy—helpful, but not a professional treatment. Makes sense. As someone who had a pretty lousy relationship with my own parents, I can understand wanting to sort of... try again. I'm guessing there'd need to be a lot of trust on both sides for that.
Yes, that kind of platonic role-playing exists. I probably wouldn't do it with anybody from this site, though: I don't spend enough time getting to know each potential buddy to be comfortable with it.
Just to chime in again. Cuddle comfort may not be the best place for this kind of roleplay, even though it is platonic.
It's way too much to expect from a pro.
@MCcuddles2 I think it's fair to say that. Which is why I asked in the first place. I wasn't too comfortable with actually asking a pro, or anyone for that matter, on the site to do that.
@Odinson87 yeah, I'd like to acknowledge that you haven't and don't have any intention to ask this of a pro, as you have clearly stated.
This is a very strange topic. But no, I don't think role playing can be non-sexual.
@MCcuddles2 Thanks for your acknowledgement. Also thanks for being able to talk about such a topic in a very mature way.
Roleplaying can't be non-sexual? Ha, look at this jock who's never been to a Ren Faire. I bet he was popular in school.
This is humor. I am an unpopular nerd.
@DaringSprinter is that a YouTube video you're trying to send? I couldn't see it.
Yes I think there is a type of role-playing that’s completely platonic but it’s more about practicing future conversations. For example I have role-played with several other professional cuddlers to either work on my intake calls or help others with their intake calls so we will switch roles as client and professional. I could imagine if someone was nervous about a social situation or a job interview possibly doing some sort of practice conversation but it wouldn’t be full on improv and costumes. I think I may have actually done a practice conversation once with one of my clients who was nervous about an upcoming video chat. Another example is in sales training you often role-play with your managers and coworkers and practice how you will speak to customers.
If it was helping someone relive in process or trauma or something like that it would be inappropriate for me to go there with them and I would have to refer them to a counselor or a psychologist.
@Odinson87: I have posted no YouTube videos or links to YouTube videos in this thread. Were you confused by the spoiler? It's just a spoiler: you click it and hidden text appears.
@DaringSprinter okay I see
I feel like this sorta thing should be done more with a licensed therapist, but I can see how having a parental figure hold you would be therapeutic.
I can imagine having a difficult relationship with one's mother would cause this craving. I've absolutely been close with older women at work who would praise me, and it absolutely fills a void.
As for trusting that the other person's intentions are solely therapeutic....that's another story.
This is a really interesting thread. As someone who has worked in kink for nearly 10 years, one person's sexual kink is another person's completely unsexual kink, so I do think it's always down to the individual, and what they want to gain from the experience.
Here's an interesting thought. I have been to a therapy session with a client before and held them while they were having their session. I thought it was brilliant. What do you think about that idea? regressive therapy with a cuddler involved?
Is there such things as non-sexual role palying? Sure, I would say yes!
Such as: You can play any games that involves of roles. 1: Chess Role 1: White Piece, Role2: Black Piece 2: Checkers Role 1: Red Piece, Role2: Black Piece
Oh, don't get me started with RPG which literally stands for Role Playing Game.
If you want to role play with your cuddle buddy partner, you can play a multi player Role Playing Game, there is nothing more fun than playing video games while cuddling.
I’ve heard from a few professional female cuddlers that there’s a enthusiast male that asks them to give him a piggy back ride which is bizarre and goes against the rules, not to mention would hurt the professional cuddler.
@Odinson87 Really interesting thread!
In terms of non-sexual roleplay, yes there definitely is and it can be really fun.
In terms of parent/child I haven't ever done a cuddle roleplay of it as such, but with cuddlers who I know and trust I've led much more maternal sessions at their request e.g. singing lullabies and soothing/shushing, cuddling in common parent/child positions etc. In those cases we had discussed it first (including the possibility of an unexpected emotional reaction and how we'd deal with it) and I knew them well enough already to feel confident in the honesty of their intentions. If someone messaged me requesting it straight off the bat I wouldn't feel comfortable at all though.
Hope you find some soothing cuddles 🤗
The real question here is about intent. Role play is just an activity, you can do it for a million different reasons. It can be sexual, practice for something real, kind-related, psychological healing or just good old fashioned fun. The roles are irrelevant to this question, you just use the roles that are appropriate to the intent.
I have used role play with people in a number of contexts. It can be a very powerful educational tool.

@supadupa I saw a TV documentary once related to this. There was a woman who was a bodybuilder or weightlifter or something. Somebody brought her a one-off client who was a bloke that wanted to be lifted and carried. They spent an hour in the gym with her spinning him around her body, which wasn't filmed, but they were interviewed afterwards. The session was clearly non-sexual, the woman was baffled and the client was as happy as somebody who'd lost a pound and found a winning lottery ticket. He was not able to explain his desire, except that he had it and it had been satisfied. He was overcome with gratitude.
@MxSmith that's a very interesting idea!
@CuddleDuncan I think you are right. It comes down to intent and finding someone who is appropriate for the intent and clearly communicating with them. and 100% not trying to find the most affordable person and trying to meet your needs secretly.
During paid cuddling it happens all the time .
It’s called Client - Professional
I’m sure it can be therapeutic
When in doubt, don’t.
An activity doesn’t have to be overtly sexual to be a fetish or a kink.
This is not the place to seek therapy. Cuddle pros are not trained therapists.
There are places outside of this site where one can connect with people who engage in this kind of role playing. I think it would be a better idea to seek someone with whom to do that elsewhere. It’s not a good fit for this site.
.
I have been to a therapy session with a client before and held them while they were having their session.
@MxSmith This is the kind of work I have been wanting to do but haven't found anyone interested in having me do it. How did you get contracted for that work? Please DM me if you wish.
