Speaking for myself. I've been here in several phases over the last 15 years. I've bailed out of several, deep, satisfying, caring conversations and basically closed my account. I've been on a journey of healing and finding out what love means to me. At 50+ years; each time, I hit a point where I was overwhelmed.
I'll throw-out-there some feelings and things I've learned about myself while operating in this space.
@Gallowglass what a lovely post, thank you.
Common expectations of "normal" relationships only cloud our vision and ruin possibilities for great connections
That is very, very, very true.
There's no such thing as long-distance with loving people.
I've made a number of good friends from CC. Two of them I've never met, internet only. Just because you've never met in person doesn't mean you can't video call in the middle of the night.
@Gallowglass this level of self-awareness, some people never achieve!
@MaineCuddle Oh yeah bad choice of words
@sunnysideup Thanks. I'm working on it.
Within the last week I've been stood up by one new cuddler and made plans to meet up with another, only to find today that they've deleted their account. According to my regular cuddlers, I'm amazing and cuddling with me is life changing (their words, not mine!). So I know it's hard, but try not to take it personally. It most likely has nothing to do with you.
I was recently discussing online dating and ghosting, and how crappy that is with a friend, and he said, "When someone ghosts me, I just assume they died." The way he said it was HILARIOUS and now whenever that happens I just laugh and say RIP bro 😁 and that helps me let it go.
I had this happen twice this week. I was out of town and responding primarily to people in the area I was at, at that moment, and had told others I'd get back to them about scheduling sessions when I get back into my own town. I started going through messages and noticed two accounts had been deleted after perfectly lovely conversations. I won't think more about it, but I wish them well on their journeys.
@justjennn Great attachment practice. Safe journeys.
