My friend was so excited when she found out I’d be in town and able to run amuck with her…so I figured I’d send her this to keep her going till I got there 😂 (Don’t worry, my safety buddy was driving me from a session. I don’t selfie and drive🤣)
I felt stupid for a bit, sharing something like that and then having someone tear me down so quickly. It was pretty demoralising.
@BuggleBear, anyone who behaves like that is a very unhappy person. The things they say are about how they feel about themselves and have nothing to do with you. I completely understand how you felt though, I struggle to remember this myself when someone treats me poorly. My knee-jerk reaction is to blame myself.

As I think about it, I realize one of the problems with unsolicited advice, or unsolicited personal comments of any kind: throwing these things around totally ignores the concept of consent. It says, "I don't care whether my opinion is important to you, or even interesting to you. I'm going to make sure you hear it."
When someone puts it out there and follows up with pushback when they are met with resistance, they are acting in a way that demonstrates attitudes similar to those shown by someone who ignores consent during a cuddle session.
The technical term for it is "icky."

@CuddlesByDeep what a great photo! My dog is weirdly camera shy too, it's rare I can get a photo of us together! This is us on our 'shared birthday' a few years ago (he's a rescue, so we have no idea how old he is, let alone when his birthday is)
Not a selfie, but this is a double whammy because I don’t like letting others take my picture and I don’t like smiling in pics. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s the 20k in Fendi 🤷🏽♀️

@BuggleBear That's an amazing picture! If only I could hold my dog like that! She is a rescue also and super fearful of being held in any way she can't escape from easily. She is a such a sweet people dog though.
@CuddlesByDeep my boy will only tolerate it for a very short time, and only sometimes. If he grumbles I'm very quick to let go and respect his body autonomy.

@Cuddle_RN yeah, I have a huge problem being able to mentally seperate 'them' issues from 'me' issues. I suspect the person that posted that just doesn't like to see people living authentically because they have an element of self-dislike. They didn't even have a profile picture themselves. Anyway, I didn't let it dull my sparkle, instead I added more, and wore glitter yesterday 🤣
