Mind Games.

Have you ever experienced anyone on this site pretending to be something that they are not? I'm not talking about using an alias on their profile but rather using a different picture on their profile to lead you to think that they look like the person in the picture when they don't. They will even go to those lengths if you're going to do Facetime. That kind of thing.

Catfishing? Luckily I haven't had that happen yet.

    Great song, Mind Games

  • It happens a lot.

Search in the forums for the thread “ PSA: Catfish 101”

    Some good info there.

Be careful, be happy, be well.

I don't know if I've experienced this or not. But, how would one really know until meeting in person right?

I am intrigued by the idea that one could pull it off with any degree of success through a video chat though. Have people actually gotten through that process only to be caught off at the in-person?? I just can't imagine how that would work out for them. Plus, then what? Like what's the purpose of doing that anyway?? 🤷‍♀️

Upon meeting in the hotel lobby, "Oh my, you don't look anything like you did online. But since you aren't traditionally "handsome"/"pretty" I get it. And everything else you led me to believe still seems legit and isn't in question at all. Nope. No red flags here... Plus, now that my safety-net back home has nothing for the authorities to go on if something goes south today... Yeah!! Let's go get our cuddle on!!" 🙄

  • @quixotic_life I have wondered the same stuff. And I like that you asked and how you worded it.

  • If you encounter this, please Block the person and Report it immediately.

  • @quixotic_life I'm with @achetocuddle here. You worded my exact thoughts on catfishing perfectly!

@quixotic_life Lol. I Facetimed with a guy who had a profile pic of himself wearing dark sunglasses on his CC profile. I asked him to show me his profile when we did Facetime but he wouldn't directly focus the camera on the side of his face even after I asked him a second time. So I was like to heck with this and ended the call.

  • Lol @FectionKitty ~ At first I thought you wanted him to point the camera at his CC profile... and I was like, 'Yeah, I'd struggle with that too since the camera is clipped to the monitor and doesn't really flip... huh?' 🤣

yeah... I'm just gonna blame an intense day for being kinda slow to process things this evening... 🙇‍♀️

  • I’ve met 2 people from this site & they were exactly their pics, but I’m sure it happens more than not … it would be a great addition to have a video chat option, not just to avoid cat fishing but to help with the booking process … I feel there’s a lot of non verbal cues we can sense in helping us determine if someone would be a right fit for us & Vice versa.

@cuddles_ndream That would be a great addition to this site.

  • [Deleted User]FectionKitty (deleted user)

    @quixotic_life It happens. :p

  • It's not just men who get catfished. I've had a few scammers message me. There was always something flawed in the bio that got me suspicious. One of them finally asked me for money, and that was a dead giveaway. I got them all banned.

There's currently someone who approached me, and his profile was too perfect, except for two things, plus the photo looked like a stock male model photo. I found it extremely suspicious that a guy who supposedly looked like a movie star would be sending a message to a woman almost 30 years older than he claimed to be, who describes herself as overweight and who has no profile pic on my bio. If he were real, he'd be looking for way hotter and younger women than me. You know what they say about things that sound to good to be true.

  • I haven't been catfish threw this sight yet but it's always something could happen Always do your safety check name address Proof ID tax collector website Zillow with proof of address, put name in😂 or Facebook social media or truth finder, peoplefinder etc....lot of ways to confirm now a days 🥰 if somebody else pop up or different name this is red flag
Make sure your conversation over phone is where you ask any questions or concerns you can have them right date year on paper hold up picture of them or video chat if they check out after safety check then you should be good to go not unless live in Florida thier traffic and accident and magical construction sights pop up out of thin air( true story) 🤣
Prevent the ghost 👻 or catfish as much as possible always communicate it's a must
If they do not meet your check out list not communicate not sending picture video broke🚫 block them move on your time is precious always safety check ✅
