TODAY ---- What makes you....... YOU? 🌻😊🌼

edited August 2022 in General

I was just thinking about what makes me who I am and what makes you... YOU.

There have been a lot of recent threads about karma and reviews, killing a good cuddle, and creating a great connection. Whether pro or enthusiast.... I believe each of us has a little bit of stuff that is uniquely us. We have our cuddle side and our personal life side. Sometimes they intersect, and sometimes we don't ever see both parts.

What is it TODAY that you notice is making you who you are? (Its the small stuff sometimes that gives a big picture. I think it might be a fun thing to have a glance and get a little snippet of the detail of the present moment.)

Would you be willing to give ONE example that is about your personal cuddle style and ONE example about your personality that we all might not get to see here in the forums or in a cuddle sesh.

I'll go first.

  • One of my favorite things to do as a snuggler, is have a countdown to a cuddle connection. Days, months, and when it gets close.... HOURS!!!

  • I was driving to work and was a little bit late. I had warmed up a yummy hamburger and asparagus from dinner the night before and had to eat it on the way. I mean who eats asparagus spears IN THE CAR like french fries?? Well.... I do. 😁🤣😂

  • ONE thing about my personal cuddle style

When cuddling with someone I don't know well in person, I tend to let them lead (unless they don't know what positions, topics of conversation, movies, games, books—whatever—they'd prefer, in which case I'll make suggestions). I'm not generally passive! But with new cuddle buddies, well... I am.

ONE thing about my personality that might not be visible here in the forums or in a cuddle sesh

To this day, I still think the most beautiful thing I've ever seen was an old, dead, twisted tree by the mountain path I was hiking in Colorado. It was warped, and cracked, and something about the pattern of its dry branches as they clawed at the sky awoke a sense of aesthetic appreciation in me so deep it was almost awe.

The eye of this beholder has some very unusual beauty in it (or so I've gathered).

  • [Deleted User]SoulParaTodos (deleted user)

Well, I’m already made (since birth!), so I am still me. Now if I invaded by another being, well there goes me lol

  • [Deleted User]Zundar (deleted user)

    Personal cuddle style:

I like having my arms wrapped around the person I'm cuddling, or having arms wrapped around me. It makes me feel safe and comfy.

One thing that happened today that's indicative of things you might not notice here or from cuddling:

Today I learned that I no longer have to take a particular medication each day that I've been taking for the last year or so, and while I celebrated that fact it also occurred to me that I'll miss it to a degree. I need structure in my life to function properly and I've structured my days around things like meal times, exercise times, and taking medication, so any disruption to that, even for a good reason, is something I need to adjust to.

  • @sillysassy in British formal etiquette asparagus is always eaten with the fingers, never a knife and fork. And it is dipped in a sauce .... so, exactly like french fries.

Formally, french fries of course are always eaten with a knife and fork, never with the fingers.

  • @DaringSprinter awwwwww THIS!!!! What fabulous observations.

The eye of this beholder has some very unusual beauty in it...

    @CuddleDuncan and @SoulParaTodos 🤣🤣🤣

@Zundar knowing that you need something (i.e. structure) lets you and others know how to appreciate both parts. It seems a fabulous thing to understand yourself to that degree!!! (The Cuddle world is helping me with some of this.)

...while I celebrated that fact it also occurred to me that I'll miss it to a degree

    Cuddle Style
When i first start to cuddle someone, I pretty much ask for consent before everymove, yes everything!
Can I sit closer? Can I hold your hand? Can I touch your hair?
Now that im saying it Im not sure if it's alright or just annoying 😅 anyways, im really big on consent and I usually expect the same from the person I cuddle with.

    My personality
I'm a big kid at heart and I don't think that will ever change, whatever age I'm. I still enjoy watching cartoons, I get excited as much as my children when new toys appear in store and I sleep with a bunch of plushies. I'm also a fangirl, I like to collect clothing and decoration item from Carebears, Disney to Star Wars and Superheros!

  • I'm not sure exactly what binds this amalgamation of flesh to a central "driver's seat," but I suspect it's an atom or a particle somewhere in my brain. Thus, when I die, untold eons will likely unfold, but the "driver's seat" will probably experience another reality. I don't comprehend eternal nothingness.

In terms of cuddling, I like being little spoon, and I like to lay face down next to my partner who is also laying face down. I also try to keep an eye on the time for the professional so it's not all awkward.

In terms of a personal thing, I really like making my own stuff whenever possible (hence my hobby of 3D printing), but I struggle with that and being able to scale. I guess it's the classic division of labor problem.

  • Personal cuddle related thing I do...
This might seem weird but... When I'm waiting for the days to pass until our set time, I tend to set a something out that makes me think of them specifically each time I see it. For one it's a cute little stuffed octopus, another a unicorn, one it was a candle I knew they'd love the scent of and for another it was particular shirt I knew they'd like the feel of (long story)... Currently I've got so many I'm looking forward to that to keep from having a jumbled mess, each is a different colored set of beads hanging off my wire tree (I'll add a pic in later).

    A non-cuddle uniqueness about me...
Multiple times I've been [or felt], called to do special time commitment driving for another. ~ Like 660 miles round trip (in one day) to pick up and drop off a trailer (have actually done this, with about half that many miles, a few times in my life now), 370 miles to pick up then deliver a huge dog I'd never met before (he was a giant 80lb-ish floof), greeting another at the airport after an international flight quarantine and driving him just over 100 miles to his people, being the sole driver for a multi-day road trip (flew to CA, drove a wide loop to CO back to CA, then flew home to OR - because they really wanted to go on one but get sleepy if behind the wheel too long), picking up a hitch hiker and deciding to go the extra 80 miles (beyond my exit) to take them home, multiple round about drives to return found things like wallets (x3), dogs (x4 or 5?), phones (x2) and (the most recent) a 10 week old puppy (sooo cute!!).
I'm sure there must be other people who delight in this sort of randomness, but I haven't met them, so I'm calling it a uniqueness about me... ♡

  • When I read the initial question on this post, I was reminded of the intro to the book “ A Short History of Nearly Everything” by Bill Bryson.

“Welcome. And congratulations. I am delighted that you could make it. Getting here wasn’t easy, I know. In fact, I suspect it was a little tougher than you realize. To begin with, for you to be here now trillions of drifting atoms had somehow to assemble in an intricate and intriguingly obliging manner to create you. It’s an arrangement so specialized and particular that it has never been tried before and will only exist this once. For the next many years (we hope) these tiny particles will uncomplainingly engage in all the billions of deft, cooperative efforts necessary to keep you intact and let you experience the supremely agreeable but generally underappreciated state known as existence.”

  • @Zundar just because you don't need it every day any more, doesn't mean you have to stop. And anyway, perhaps it's worth continuing on a prophylactic basis.

  • But to answer;

Cuddle Style Example: My favorite thing to do is to nuzzle the side of my face against their head while in a half spoon.

Personality Example: Despite my social anxiety, I try to be as approachable and friendly as possible. It makes it much easier to navigate social situations when I feel the other people have a good impression of me.

  • @Charlie_Bear I love that!!!

"For the next many years (we hope) these tiny particles will uncomplainingly engage in all the billions of deft, cooperative efforts necessary to keep you intact and let you experience the supremely agreeable but generally underappreciated state known as existence.”

And thanks to all who are willing to sharer some insight into YOU!! 😊

@quixotic_life I absolutely adore the idea of some THING set out to be a reminder. Its like sending a good thought out in the universe every time until its time.
OMGOSH YOU MAKE ME LAUGH!!!!! A driving time commitment.... hahahhaha

  • @sillysassy 🥰 Haha me too. I have the audio book and I love listening to the author narrate it. It’s such an interesting read (and listen.)

  • It's a good question, but don't sweat the answers folks - you're not really you.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-43674270

  • I don't have a personal cuddle style. Would have to cuddle to find that out.

As for personally, what's made me, me lately has been depression, over work, over stress, frustration, and pain.

  • [Deleted User]KYtransplant (deleted user)

I like to do the countdown thing as well.

As a cuddler I like to plan a meal we both like and take the time to actually cook. Because living alone I don't cook much for myself.

Then sleepy and full from dinner, cuddle and doze off for a nap. Warm happy comfort feelings all around.

One thing about me that may not show up until someone really takes the time to know me is my sense of justice and drive.

I am a tireless advocate for any situation I feel I can make a positive difference in.

I am also fiercely independent and have a very can do attitude. To the point of If I can't do for myself, I will do without.

  • edited August 2022

Oh my! @KYtransplant some yummy food as part of the comfy feelings. That sounds lovely.
I definitely feel like I got a GLIMPSE of your dedication and drive in STL and that shows up in some really cool ways.

@BrianL I appreciate your willingness to share your stuff. Sometimes I think people only want to hear about the rainbows and lollipops. I know a lot of people can relate to the frustrations you express and I am so thankful you are taking steps to work towards making your life what you want it to be. I know that WE are the only ones who can fix our own problems, but this is a beautiful community that can offer support and acceptance... Exactly where you are. Thank you again for sharing your YOU of TODAY.

I am sure that I am not the only one sending positive vibes your way... So on behalf of myself and any other CC member who aligns with the notion, I send you all sorts of good stuff into the cuddleverse. It is out there for you to receive it. 😊

  • Goodness I’ve been here awhile and posted so much over the years …. Well here goes !

Personal cuddle style: I don’t think I’ve ever done a one hour cuddle. Rarely have had a couple hour one. Almost all my experiences are longer experiences like day or days. My favorite is the long weekend out of town cuddles where events are sometimes planned and also down time where we do something last minute that wasn’t planned. Cuddling is great don’t get me wrong but I like the times best where we are doing something together and enjoying the company and experiences of the day . Later we giggle and laugh about the experiences of the day as we cuddle 😊

Personality example: gosh same challenge. Don’t you peeps know me by now ? 😂. Anyways let’s see , I have a huge family. Like really big. I’m 4th of 8 siblings with dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews and now great nieces and nephews. I have kids and they have kids now. Just a gigantic family!

So with that said , I sometimes can relate to most societal concerns that exist because more than likely someone in my family is or has experienced similar issues. Haven’t understood them all but experienced many but I like learning and listening about others peoples lives . Life is so interesting don’t you think ? 🤔

  • Cuddle Style

I'm a newbie at this and I haven't really cuddled anyone as of yet, but I'd say that I'm more than willing to respect boundaries when it will happen, as I personally don't want to make any hosts/guests uncomfortable; consent applies to cuddling just as much as it applies to sex in my book. I'd like to think of myself as a gentle, but warm cuddle buddy though.

    What Makes Me Me

I'm slowly managing to appreciate my art style more and more every week (I like sketching and designing in my spare time). I was highly negative of how I drew things at first, but now, I'm starting to appreciate more as I kept on drawing stuff, and it helps give me the drive to improve as an artist along the way.

  • [Deleted User]Girl_Wants_Hug (deleted user)

In life my cuddle style is active. I can never stay in one position long due to arthritis so really have to change position often. I also haven't made a cuddle buddy connection yet so I wonder if I should add that to my bio like a disclaimer or warning. "Can't sit still? I am the right partner for you."

I have a big busy family and demanding job but where I reside is the quiet places with out all that noise. I escape so hard into literature that I can only read when I have a free weekend. My conscious looses itself to the point were I struggle to come back reality. Struggle to shake the book world from eyes and engage with my family . I am sure that's what will be the death of me, complete inattention to my surroundings.

  • So many fun responses!! thank you for sharing a bit of insight into what makes you... YOU!

Ok... as of TODAY Cuddle Me ......

    • One of my favorite things to do in the cuddleverse is chat about likes and dislikes before I meet someone. Even if the meeting might not happen for a YEAR!!!

    What makes me ME today.....

    • I was getting ready for school and realized how much I still stress about getting good grades! I love learning and I feel like I am not taking advantage of everything if I don't get an A+++ 😂😂😂 But I'm letting go of that more quickly than I used to, and I call that emotional GROWTH!
  • Oh my!!! I know that I have totally revived this thread from the ashes but I decided it is worth the risk!!

Ok... as of TODAY Cuddle Me ......
One of my favorite cuddle type things that is happening currently...... Reaching out to people in the states I'm planning to visit to say hello!! I know I won't be visiting extremely soon, but its still fun to look at people in a new area!!!

    What makes me ME today.....
I am getting ready for a get together.... I am so excited to celebrate some people in my life that have been in my tribe for a while now. I'm fixing plumbing issues, doing homework AND making cookies! That is me. In a nutshell today. ALL THE SPRINKLES!!!

What about YOU?? What makes you the very kind of you that is showing up today?

  • What a fun thread! I must have been in a deep, dark hole when it first sprung up!

    Cuddle Style

One thing I've noticed that seems to be a bit unique is that during group cuddles, I like to jump around to numerous people, because there's so many amazing people there, and I want to cuddle them all! I've noticed others can happily snuggle down with one person and spoon for an hour, but the efficiency obsessor in me drives me to connect fast, get to know someone as we snuggle in whatever position or manner they prefer, reach that point of bliss where I don't want to leave their arms, then force myself to break away, thank them for the beautiful moment, and connect with another person before it's allllll over, far too quickly! :p Then I can go back and connect with each one individually, later. :3 I always worry that this will be construed as me not being happy with our cuddle, if I don't stay for long, but it couldn't be further from the truth, as honestly it can be sooo hard to unwrap myself from some of these lovely cuddlers, it's crazy...

    Personal Style

Today what makes me uniquely me... I leaned out into the 9 degree F weather, to experience it even better...despite being in pajamas, despite having just woken up. It felt fantastic, rejuvenating, and the air smelled so crisp and delicious. I love cold weather and snow!!!

I think my personality and cuddle style are somewhat intertwined. My personality is that of an empath. I have a genuine care for other people and want to help them when I’m able to and that comes out in my cuddling I like to embrace and hug I like to have a woman put her head on my shoulder, and I like to put my arm around her make her feel safe and comforted. I don’t do any crazy kind of cuddle positions like the 68 1/2 with one arm behind the back, or standing on my head or anything like that lol 😂

  • Cuddle Style

Whether they do or don't wear socks, I do wear socks. I like my feet burrowed into blankets and kept toasty warm. And here you all thought my feet were like my cold black heart. B)

    What Makes Me Me

I'm a fairly fearless extrovert. Except for alligators/crocodiles (big teeth, they run +30mph, can climb fences, and did I mention big teeth?), deep water (a little almost-drowned episode at 5), and big crowds (just a touch of "get me away from all these people that I haven't met yet and don't necessarily want to know"). Other than those things, yes, fairly fearless.

@sillysassy - what was the number that you started with on our countdown?

  • [Deleted User]Calibrate715 (deleted user)

Being very new to this - in terms of cuddling with a stranger, I suppose I'd say adaptability. I've been asked what my favorite way to cuddle is and I honestly don't have one. It will all depend on the person and how the energy feels. It could be anything from traditional spooning to something you'd find similar in a yoga session (back to back, seated embrace, etc.).

Hmm, what makes me, me. I suppose I'd say I'm very protective of people. I like to be able to take the edge off life for others. Having a bad day? Come over - I'd likely have a meal and sweet tea waiting on you. House a disaster? Let me help clean or leave your laundry on the porch for me to handle. I call it my Southern indoctrination lol - think it just molded me to be a mama bear type.

  • When I cuddle, I like to be the big spoon and nurture people as well as hold space for them. In general, I'm a caregiver, and I use my energetichealing to help people, especially with pain relief

  • Omgosh!! I love all these fun answers!!! Thank you all for being willing to share little parts of who you are. I appreciate the freedoms and safety that come with this community.

@Calibrate715 WELCOME TO THE SITE! Female enthusiast to Female enthusiast I love your perspective... AND your pic of the energy force. THAT is very very cool. 😊

@Sideon I believe you had me at the "TRANSIT" story. It was a countdown from that moment on. (Approximately 600 days later 💕)

  • Today, just work but that is part of what makes me me . Work hard so that I can play hard. Unless I'm too tired . In which case I nap.
