People I tells reaction follows right along with how open minded they are. I'm polyamorous also so there reaction to that is about the same. The people I choose to hang out with think it's pretty cool.. some coworkers think I'm weird and my more close minded family think I'm some swinger.. which is all fine. I don't try to change there minds about me.
I told my 28y/o coworker and he pretty much shunned and laughed at me.
