I wish my friends and family had affectionate kitties like so many of y'all do. It's so important for kittens to be around people from the start if possible.
@achetocuddle - It's a funny thing with kittens, but it's very hard to tell how affectionate they will be when they get a little older. Just about a year ago, we were at a shelter to pick up a cute affectionate little girl that we had arranged to adopt. At the very last minute, the woman from the shelter said "Oh, you have another cat. You don't want this one. she doesn't get along with other cats at all.
As long as we were there, we decided to take another look around. There was one cute, five month old male, who looked like he might be a Russian Blue. We hadn't payed much attention to him previously, because the sign on his cage said "Shy and Unfriendly." I stuck two fingers through the bars. He ran right over, clamped my fingers between his front paws, and immediately. They opened the cage, and I took him out and put him on my lap. Hr rolled right over, obviously wanting a belly rub.
"Shy my ass" I told her. "We'll take him. He's the most affectionate cat we've ever had.

I'm struggling to find myself right now so it's hard to say but i think it would be helping friends and fixing or building things.
