What's everyone been up to lately?

[Deleted User]Ripley54566 (deleted user)

Pretty basic thread topic I know!

I've been very busy with my coursework. I take online classes, so I've had very little human interaction these past couple months. I just wanted to hear what other people have been doing with their lives.

  • I just returned from a lovely trip out of state. 🏝 🌊

I'm settling back into my routine in Wyoming, and enjoying the gorgeous cold weather, deer in the back field, and time with my boyfriend and puppydog. 🦌🥰🐕

I'm working on my goals for 2023, and really exploring some fresh realizations about myself, the past month. 🎯💡

  • I'm trying to invest in my happiness more, fixing up the house, working on my paintings, working on some of my hobbies, getting rid of some debt.

I love to hear that @PinetownCloud everyone should invest in their happiness more. Ive been trying to get back into the habit of doing so.

@SunsetSnuggles Thank you for messaging me! I love getting messages from people lol

    Job hunting, mainly.

  • Trying to find time for self care. The last couple weeks have been absolutely insane. Brother had major surgery and contracted a drug resistant infection, my Dad had a heart attack Wednesday night and had to have two blockages stinted, and I apparently have three kidney stones and one that doesn't want to pass...
I seriously need ALL of the cuddles at this point, but my wallet does not go that deep, lol 🤣

Spring cleaning, relocating office from basement to upstairs, simplifying life by getting rid of stuff. Habitat for Humanity has benefited greatly.

  • I just picked up a new hobby / exercise program called “rucking”. Basically just hiking but doing it with a 45 pound plate inside of my ruck sack (backpack).

This week I am on vacation so I am heading to Michigan to ride my gravel bike on some trails along Lake Michigan then I am heading to some trails in Ohio 😊

  • @JohnR1972 Oh I go rucking, daily. My 45-pound plate is just more like an organic fanny pack and saddle bags. 😏

  • @SunsetSnuggles ....you and me both girl 🤣🤣

  • Currently working, playing life is strange 3, and scrolling around here on this website.

  • My dad moved in with me about two weeks ago. Last week he strained one of his leg muscles and I've been taking care of them ever since. He's not able to get out of bed on his own yet. So mostly, it's either work or caretaking.

  • I’m on a self-care/self-improvement roll. I hired a personal trainer and a housekeeper, I have gone on a diet, and I’ve scheduled a physical and a teeth cleaning with the dentist. I also just turned 65 and started back in therapy to decide what I want to be when I grow up!

  • @Ripley54566 Aww, of course, you can always message me! :3

@warm_embrace Holy crap, amazing job with all of that!! Way to take charge of your life. I love it.

Currently visiting my dad in Buffalo. But last couple of months have been about meeting up with friends/making new ones, focusing on my health, keeping up with our kiddo, trying to learn Spanish, and exploring more of Ohio when I get the chance.

@warm_embrace - that's awesome! Self-care is (oddly enough) so hard to accomplish sometimes ❤️

    @CuddleBarista1
I still need to play that series! I loved the first one from what I have played.

  • Ive had a couple days off of my daily job and have fixed some stuff around the house and helped my younger son with his taxes.. and prepping myself for the new job I start next week which I am extremely excited for.

  • @Charlie_Bear The series are definitely awesome! I never played it and only watched the first and second series. It is my first time playing the game and it is so worth the money! I

  • @Charlie_Bear

That's the one where the girl manipulates time right?

  • @PinetownCloud that is the first game. Every life is strange game is different characters, powers, and stories. :)

  • As a real motor head, I’m doing a complete repaint on my 1953 Ford. Now that I’m retired for the 2nd time I’m getting it ready to go to some truck shows. It now has antique tags and insurance which is very cheap. It was painted about 17 years ago and has nearly 400K miles on it.

  • @waynewv So freekin cool! 😎👍

  • I’ve just been pondering away trying to figure out why it takes 10-15+thoughtful outgoing messages on my part to get even just one single response back…. And when I do it’s usually something like “hey” or “how are you”?

    The apathy is so disappointing.

I've found several keys to getting the majority of my messages replied to:

    -Introduce yourself

-Tell them why you've clicked on their profile, especially if you're out of state, i.e. you saw something they posted on the boards or you see them often on the front of the site

-Inquire on something personal to show interest, I'll usually inquire on pics that show off interesting locales

-Request info on something in their profile, i.e. pros often don't post online session rates, this shows you haven't skimmed their profile

-Compliment them, their writing style or outfit or pets, etc. just be friendly

  • I've finished my exams and just recently received my license to practice acupuncture. I've started working with a realtor and lender to buy my first home. And I've spent time with new fun friends. ♥️

    @waynewv Very cool truck!

  • [Deleted User]KYtransplant (deleted user)

Just taking care of these guys until it gets warmer and I can enjoy them more.

@waynewv this is how I prefer my horsepower 😁

  • @KYtransplant

In 2015, 2016 I helped run this small grocery store in my community, behind the shop were horse pastures, I would give the horses fruit every time I worked, they were so much fun to play with.

  • @PinetownCloud thank you for your response. I pretty already do pretty much exactly what you suggested.

I have a robust and detailed profile and some good karma reviews to back it up, so I will just introduce myself, I will pick out something in their profile that resonated with me. I always read the profile. Many times I will comment on a movie or a TV show that they like that I also dig on big time.

If they have an interesting or thought-provoking photo, I will comment or inquire on that. Sometimes they don’t have much at all.

But in any event, I do follow your structure for the most part and then invite them to check out my profile and karma views.

I live at the beach on the west side of Los Angeles. LA County has literally 10 million people so I’m just astonished at it has such a terrible response ratio….

  • I was modding my Game Boy Color over the weekend because I am a giant nerd. Next I will mod my Game Boy Advance SP to make it look like a Pokédex.
