It's an interesting concept, though I can't say that I've ever experienced or seen said ritual in person. I am a big believer in the transference of positive energy, however, so I can understand and appreciate its value. I have sat beside dying loved ones and seen how the power of my hand upon theirs, upon their forehead, etc. comforts them in their final days. I have known a schizophrenic that would cease having tremors when I'd hold her hand. I'm sure there are other examples. It's a feeling that's fairly indescribable.

Dear All. Has anybody achieved an OBE whirl in the arms of a friend, it takes a lot of practise but it can be done.

I have never had the privilege of participating in a a healing ritual of cleansing, but my ex husband could pull pain from my body into his hand. He would capture it and if you looked into his cupped hand, you could see a green ball of energy. When he opened his hand it was dissipate. He taught me how to push energy around in my body or out of my body. When I was pregnant I would push the nausea into him to give myself a break from morning sickness. You think I am kidding? When you are making a baby, men should share the joy. lol

I've not participated in the kind of cleansing ritual mentioned by the thread author, but have seen something a bit similar in christian prayer where there is laying on of hands. I'm not sure about all this energy stuff and chakra's and whatever, but I do believe in the spiritual dimension and spiritual beings as described in the scriptures.

Thank you, John, for sharing your beautiful experiences.
As for healing, in my opinion treatment needs to hapen at the level the problem exists. This means, if something will iminently threaten your life, you may, take more drastic measures than if you had a bit more time to figure things out.
I have had spontaneous disappearance of a very invasive cholesteatoma (in my right ear) and spontaneous healing of the hearing in my left. I've also had painful surgery years ago when a cholesteatoma threatened my life (the ear is awfully near the brain pan, folks). It's something I will have to have monitored the rest of my life.
Anyway! I was not aware Mahatma Gandhi did the platonic cuddling thing, but that's a pioneer for you!

2000 people? Wow. ..so where was that and what's its original name? I guess it should be tested on someone with an illness that can suddenly show an improvement like blindness or some form of paralysis. Who knows...imagine if it worked !!! People all over the world would be doing it in 10k/100k/millions at once.
@Southernscuba
So can you teach us what you were taught ? Maybe that green energy thing ?

, Dear Choice It was in north India within 100km of the Tibetan boarder, at a village called Hudan in the pang Valley. The elders brought all of the surrounding villages and farmers together, the recipient was the daughter of a tribal leader. It was 30 years ago. The name I was given is the title of this post, I do not know it in Hindi, The laying of hands has been put here and there are many names in all parts of the world, as put forward above.
As also said above until properly proven it can be said to be only quackery, all I know is it made me feel real good afterward, full of life and energy for days, This effect is the same as a very, very large cuddle party.
You need to take your own journey and hunt these things down, Your first call should be Sabarmati Ashram and the writings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Have fun and play safe, love from John and his trees, Auckland NZ

I clear the space where I live every now and then and try to make a stress free place. There was one time I've ever been in a group that has done something similar, focused on me. It was a family I was staying with, just short term, but wanted to do a prayer for me. I sat in the middle and they had me lay down and while they sat and did a prayer with hands sending positive energy. A mantra for protection and clear bad energy. It was good feeling and felt very comfortable after. They also considered me part of the family and leaving was really sad.
It was the only time I experienced that, but it made me feel welcome and clam. This was a long time ago and I don't think I would forget their generosity and hospitality.

I've never heard of ritual cleansing or experienced it, but I friend of mine was telling me about a culture that does something similar for the grieving process. When someone loses a close loved one, the community surrounds them pressing tight against them physically. They may even be laying down, I can't remember. I think the idea was to impress on them that they aren't alone during their loss. I can remember where this was practiced either.
I'm not sure about the difference between platonic and celibacy cuddling. My initial thought is that it's like the rectangle square phenomena. All celibacy cuddling would be platonic but not all platonic cuddling would be celibate? I guess I think of celibacy as choice or decision to not have sex with anybody or get married; whereas platonic is non sexual intimacy or affection at any given point.

I wasn't planning on sharing this but I have experienced something in a Bible study group at one point. Always going through something and really struggling with it. Everybody in the Bible study laid their hands on me if they could or on the shoulder of the person in front of them if they couldn't reach me. They said a prayer and focused on sending me loving, supportive and healing energy. It was so nice that I ended up bursting into tears and being able to let go of some of the pain/hurt that I was going through. When I started crying the people that were touching me would press even harder which helped me feel even more support. It didn't take away everything but it definitely helped! I truly believe in what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But it is really nice when some people can help you heal that much faster so you can also become strong that much faster. That's another reason why love cuddling! It can be so very healing! I love helping people heal when I can! HUGE HUG!!!!

I'm not a very spiritual person and mean no offense in my subsequent thought process. Physical touch has been scientifically proven to be important to a person's well-being, so it stands to reason that having many people not only touching you at once but also empathizing would cause many positive chemical responses to occur in your body so long as you are comfortable with the process as it is happening. I would very much like to see more non-prescription remedies move from alternative medicine to being actual medicine. This would mean it would have to be studied heavily with numerous, unbiased studies and peer-reviewed before even starting to get the circulation it needed. I believe many alternative medicines are misplaced in their exact understanding of how the human body functions with the intake of that medicine, because the body is much more complicated than most alternative medicines care to explain as far as how the medicine works. I believe some of the successes of alternative medicine likely are cases of the body healing itself due to a variable that the person simply didn't notice. Of course, this is only my opinion.

Maybe just two terms for the same thing. On the sub question of celibate cuddling vs platonic cuddling. Both mean no sex involved but there is clear clean intimacy of touch. Non sexual touch is something a lot of people don't get enough of for various reasons. Enjoying peaceful and healing energy from a partner without the expectation of performing is great.
as for healing, I haven't experienced what your original post is talking about but I have experienced healing in other ways.
From laying on of hands with people of faith, praying for me and through healers that are in tune with the body/mind/world/energies. I've been healed of things and it's very real.
Lots of people haven't experienced it so to them it doesn't exist. But the mind is so powerful it can deny or accept anything.
I live my life in positives so I live in that peace.
I also live in LA, CA so there can be a struggle some times ( traffic and bad drivers!)
but I do believe in healing and touch healing.

I am joining friends of mine in the annual cleansing of Ramadan. Which, at the time of this posting is the sixth day.
I was invited to participate when they fully know I am Atheist. :P It certainly sounds challenging, so I am doing it.
If you are not familiar, Ramadan is where you fast for about a month, not eating, drinking, having sex, or getting aggressive while the sun is up. The idea is to both cleanse your body and mind while also gaining empathy for people who go hungry and thirsty on a regular basis.
I can say that the time has been interesting, the friends I have make the experience enjoyable, especially when making and eating food during the evenings. At the end of the fasting, I feel like I would appreciate food a lot more, as well as enhance my ability to fight temptation.
