I used to engage them voraciously and tenaciously until I found out that doing so was exactly what they like and also does nothing to benefit me.
Occasionally I see one in action and sometimes might think of a smart answer to them, but tell myself that they most likely will twist or use the answer in some way I'd rather not. And so I often end up blocking them so I don't even see the nonsense going on... Once I found out you could just mute a whole Discord server and that blocking users hides their messages, life was much happier for me.
I do step in occasionally to intervene if someone is messing with my friends.
(I do realize that this thread is mainly dedicated to trolls on this website! I sympathize with Mr. Bear about wholesome places being invaded by such rogues and wasting his time. More power to you, sir!)

@Charlie_Bear - I wouldn't take it personal. I would just laugh at them. They did something they knew what was against the rules and now they're gone.

@Charlie_Bear - Does the appeal even mention who will be reading it? They probably aren't even directing it to a specific person and are just writing it in frustration. I wouldn't let them live in my head one second rent-free especially if they were banned for trying to use the site for sex.

It takes work for people in the wrong to be accountable, to take ownership of their crap that they did/have done. It means being responsible for yourself, and the majority of humans on this planet will bend over backwards and blame anyone/anything but themselves. I sympathize, I'm human too, and heaven knows I've been wrong myself. But my one feeling turns off the moment they turn troll and take their crap out on others here. When they enter troll country here on the forums, their stay is not long. They can figure out adulting and accountability elsewhere. Anywhere. As long as it is away from here.
@Mike403 They know who it is that banned them so while I assume it’s not specifically directed at any particular mod, it’s probably the mod that banned them that will be reading it.

I had a friend who used to like to irritate people because it was fun for him. I never replied, or gave him the attention he was looking for, so he never messed with me. Remember once he was messing with a mutual friend. The mutual friend was yelling and telling him to cut it out, and, he said how come you’re not messing with John. He replied back as John doesn’t do anything or react and he’s no fun. I learned that long time ago, so I just ignored trolls, which usually aggravates them even more
