Friendship on CC?

I'm a bit confused (becoming a more frequent annoyance) but what does it mean to the folks on CC? Does it mean that you have actually met this person? Does it mean that you have had actual, personal communication (electronic conversation could count) and why does it disappear if the account is closed?

    most of the time I add the friends that I have actually met in person, or think may meet in person at some point or another :)

    Having people on my friends list doesn't mean we are close friends or have met in person. They are generally someone that I am attracted to for whatever reason and want an easy way to navigate to their profile.

    My friend's list is composed of people who I have cuddled and know, people I have talked to, or people who I would like to meet in person. I have been added a few times as well without exchanging messages and I usually accept unless I have reason not to.

    I have people on my friends page whom I will likely never meet due to, well, Alabama,  however I feel they are people who I may identify with in one way or another. There are a couple of folks that I have communicated with outside of this site in one capacity of another. I would like to think that if circumstances permitted I would be able to form relationships with the folks on my friends page but who knows.
