The only one that comes to mind for me is Beavis and Butthead because they watched news reports about kids being influenced by them and mimicking what they did on the show.

All commerical television (i.e. one channel out of the three that existed at the time.)
In films it was Westerns in general, and John Wayne films in particular.
They had no moral objections or anything, it's just that they felt the quality of such things was so poor that they didn't want to expose their children to it. Having now seen as an adult some of the things I wasn't allowed to see as a child, I have to say that on the whole they were right.
I should add that later on, when we were older teenagers, a new commercial channel called Channel 4 started up. (By this stage the quality of commercial television in general had improved considerably.) They introduced a 'red triangle' to show in the corner of certain films shown late at night, to warn viewers of the risk of sex or bad language. There was a big fuss about all this and my dad was very keen that we should all watch the first one to be broadcast, which we did. It proved even more disappointing that we had expected. The red triangle was an experiment which didn't last long.
It is easier for me to say what I was allowed to watch because I was only allowed to watch an hour of tv a day when I was little.

I can't recall shows we were told we couldn't watch. There were shows like Night Gallery I was scared to watch.
The Simpsons. My mom thought it was too trashy. But she thought South Park was hilarious. Go figure.
@stormydaycuddle i also wasn’t allowed to watch the smurfs, when I was younger. Papa Smurf was a wizard and we might have tried wizardry if we watched it. 😂 But she let us watch The Young Ones when I was a teenager 😂😂😂. Also they didn’t want us to watch MTV. 🤘🏻

I grew up in a rural area with just 4 VHF channels and 6 UHF channels (if you are under 40 you may need to Google what that even means 😂).
The only shows I remember specifically being told I couldn't watch were “Maude” (1972-1978) and daytime soap operas because of their mature subject matter.
Only having three channels there really wasn't much to watch anyway. So we basically watched whatever they did up until bedtime and the news came on at 10.
Never been a big TV watcher type person. Don't even have cable or satellite now and haven't since 2014.
I guess that started my early love of reading that I treasure today. I read/listen to about 3 to 5 books a week. My interests are all over the place as I am always on a quest for knowledge.
Forget the romance novel brain mush stuff. That would bore me to tears.
Oh, I wasn't supposed to watch the Benny Hill Show, nor anything with Elvira ("mistress of the dark"). Of course, I just got good at sneaking downstairs late at night and watching the tv on low volume . . .
MTV. Back when it was for the artists and music. Headbangers Ball & Remote Control were a few of the shows on there. We had to go to friends homes to watch it and have Doritos and Oreos. I was also banned from watching any film with Jack Nicholson in it. Since he scared me so much with his role in The Shining; believe I slept in my parents bedroom for about two years. 😂

I don’t remember any objections to any shows, but like @CuddleDuncan, we had four stations. I do remember us watching a lot of PBS.
My parents didn’t let my siblings & i watch shows they found annoying. If they couldn’t “tune it out” we couldn’t “tune in” . The shows they hated most were Caillou and Ren & Stimpy because the character voices were annoying.

@Jova114 - At the time (my pre-teen years) I had no interest in watching it anyway. Since then I have seen an episode or two and it wasn’t really my type of humor but everyone’s their own preferences. To this day I have never had any interest in daytime soap operas (or daytime dramas or whatever the current term is for such shows). I got rid of cable over a decade ago and really haven’t missed TV.
I’m glad you were able to enjoy Maude with your grandma. Often times the best memories are the shared experiences with others rather than the events or activities themselves.
@Jova114 nah, just turned the volume down super low and glued myself to the TV lol. My mom was the type to turn in by 8pm on a Sunday, had work early Monday.
