Ran into this little guy while I was working…. so, you don’t think there’s bears in LA?

@SunsetSnuggles there are only black bears in California. The black bear population in Los Angeles is a little over 300. The mountain lion population in Los Angeles is around 12 with most of the adults being collared and tracked. The most famous mountain lion in LA passed away last year. His name was P22. He was referred to as the Lion King of Los Angeles. Of course we have deer, coyotes and other critters. I don’t think people realize that we actually have wildlife in LA.

I have mountain lions in my backyard a lot. They like to hide behind the propane tank at night and apparently try to ambush deer. I see them sometimes or at least their glittering eyes in the darkness when I get home from wrestling practice. Usually though, I only see their prints and scat.
I live in Chicago. About two blocks from the railroad tracks. We get a lot of bunnies, skunks, occasionally coyotes.

@starrynitecuds very true. Also bulls and cubs. I don't watch sports, so it slips my mind.
When the mountain lion P-22 died, local American Indian tribes demanded his body and they buried him in the mountains in a ceremonial burial.
He was considered special because he was the only mountain lion in LA that came down from the mountains and walked the actual city (still in the hills). He never hurt anyone.
