I'm IRKED... AND BY GOLLY ARE YOU GOING TO HEAR ABOUT IT!!!

Once upon a time there was a fabulous thread where people could just post a complaint. No rhyme or reason. Just irksome things. I tried to find that old thread and couldn't bring it back up so I thought I'd just start a new one.

I must admit.... I was pretty irked about not being able to find that thread!!!

I'm also irked that my dad got asked to be in the race car hall of fame, but they want to charge $75 a plate to attend the ceremony and $175 for a plaque with a group picture of the inductees on it!! Its scandalous!!!

  • @TxTom YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!!!

The reason I was initially irked is because even though I posted on it, it never came back up in the forums. There are a million threads that get necro posted and are somewhat meaningless but this thread doesn't?? Can't?? Its irksome!!!

I need the world to hear me!! I am irked!!! But now we can irk anew.... a fresh start!!

  • Dang that sucks!!!!! That's crazy!

But also, you're dad is in the hall of fame? That's awesome!

  • The race car people probably figure the market will bear that price. I don't have any idea, but I do know people involved in serious car racing tend to be at least upper middle-class.

Currently not irked (just so used to being under the weather due to pollen), but I have always enjoyed the irked thread.

  • I’m pretty irked with the USPS right now over the change of address process, not working, scam USPS COA sites trying to charge random huge $$$ (thank goodness for fraud alerts). Billing address not being editable, now will have to deal with the misery of trying to call them during their office hours (during night for me). I’ve done this multiple times online and still rejected, even did in person at the PO mid July but because of an error on their end, never processed. Now I’m gone. 😡 😡🤬
But now just writing this has helped.
    Thanks @sillysassy
(and yes txtom, I did it correctly multiple times, their error)

I'm irked because I got mugged by 6 dwarfs.
    Not happy.

@sillysassy Congratulations to your Dad. Which Hall of Fame, NHRA or NASCAR?
Either is a big deal. Sorry about the price gouging. Seems like a Hall of Fame induction should be free to inductees.

I’m irked because a man of the name [redacted] had left me bad karma.

Post edited to remove identifying details. If you have an issue regarding karma that someone left, report them. Complaining about people by name in the forum is not allowed. -JoyfulHeart [Moderator]

I thought people venting about what they're irritated about was basically every thread on here?

Controversial, I am irked by the very mindful, very demure meme. But the creator of the meme got some endorsement deals and used the money to help their friend move out of a bad situation, so I'll tolerate it ☺

  • I’m irked about “surveillance capitalism” - companies who have a business model based on violating your privacy for profit. 2 recent examples…

    1) Texas Attorney General just sued GM for selling their customers’ driving history and “driving score” to insurance companies and other “business partners” without the knowledge and consent of the drivers who bought GM vehicles (this has been happening for 10 years but was only recently discovered by people outside of GM).

    2) FedEx is now scanning license plates and photographing cars to get the make, model, location of dents, and text from any bumper stickers of any vehicle their trucks pass on the road. FedEx is getting the vehicle info along with the GPS location and a date and time stamp. This data is then sold to Flock, a company who aggregates that data with the data from other companies then sells your location history to law enforcement (an end run around the 4th Amendment protection against warrantless searches). Law enforcement can’t track your every move without a warrant so they outsource that activity to private companies who do it for them.

  • I’m irked that this site doesn’t tag you when people respond to your message in discussions. And also make it easy so you can go right there. Who got time to read through everything? We need the convenience of going to the thread right away.

  • @JohnR1972 I like what the AG did. But justice is so slow, so far behind the rapid pace of the surveillance, I'm not sure how it ever catches up. And if it ever does, the damage has already been done.

The general public is mesmerized by the promises of inexpensive e-conveniences, and are willing to give up all sorts of personal info to save 5¢ on a product or service.

And as per your FedEx example, we don't even have to volunteer for it---our private information is collateral data caught up in the surveillance dragnet.

Combined with nanotechnology, quantum computing, AI, and 330 million pocket spys, it's a helluva trap to escape from.

I'm a bit irked about this, myself.

  • I'm irked by the word irked. Also the word oblong.

  • I'm irked because work lurks in the murk like a jerk.

  • I'm irked about a fellow artist on Instagram with a real stick up her you know what, but shes one of the crystals chicks so I'm not surprised, I just figured I'd be nice an share some paintbrushes I saw with her, and holy Christ on a cracker, what a sarky stuck up rude tithead. Just instantly lost all interest in her work and anything to do with her.

  • I’m irked that magazine offerings are very thin now. During my college years, the store had a 6 foot wide, by 3 feet high magazine sales rack. There were at least 10 different offerings on cars and trucks alone. That rack was my “internet” during the 1980s.

  • (Thank you for the kind words about my dad. Its not anything big like Nascar, but when its your dad its still pretty cool!)

I am IRKED about labels that don't print centered when you are trying to make cute little packaging details! That's no fun at all!!!

    And also....

About grocery stores that don't have the correct labels for pricing on their products. Its no fun trying to figure out where in the world the RIGHT price is. 😂😂😂 Feels like I'm on a game show EVERY TIME!!

  • @WriterGF I suppose seeing SO MANY THREADS that have a few comments and are mostly complaints.... was irksome. HENCE the reason I went on a search for the thread in order to make a place where people can vent without sucking the life/joy out of the forums completely. 🤨

This from the original thread from 4 years ago and filled with 9 glorious pages....

Just giving a shout out to all the folks who make a thread every time something bothers them. Whether that be someone not messaging them , not cuddling them the right way , said something that bothered them, or posted a pic that they dont like . Bonus fist bumps for those who post pics , links , and usernames of said irker. We wouldn't want to not have the tools needed to gossip about them and invade their privacy, as is the way it should be when one does not get their way and things don't go the way they would like it to go. No need for adulting on a site like this after all , right ?

  • If you're going to be irked, do it with a smirk.

  • @TxTom "Irk with a Smirk"

  • I’m irked that people don’t want to post in the IRKED THREAD when they are irked!!!

    🤨

Jus sayin. In an irksome voice. Pfffffbbbbt

Seems like Head and Shoulders could have come up with a body wash called Knees and Toes. Very irksome.

  • I'm irked that I missed my connection to Maine last night so I had stay over in Philadelphia.

Still, the hotel is pleasant, so there's that. 🌞

Wow. That us $100 a foot. I'm no Alvin Einstein, but that seems like a lot. ;)

  • What’s wrong with $500? I wouldn’t pay it but I don’t begrudge someone who wants to try charging that. It’s a free market system and most likely she will adapt or die. What is not ok about it? It’s her body and she has the right to charge whatever she wants and you have the choice to not book her. Pretty simple stuff here with no right or wrong to it.
