Professional Pet Cuddlers

When in the military-there were often times having a pet wasn't a realistic option----the only pet affection available came from visiting the pets friends owned who were more fortunate. Fortunately, I have more than my fair share now---------just often wondered if a CC model (with very strict rules of course) might work for "professional pet cuddlers" site. Something like adopt a pet for half a day etc. --------------I know there were times when deployed I would have enjoyed the temporary company of a dog, etc. I imagine rates would be astronomical! Thoughts?

  • There are pet cafes across East Asia and SEA that function basically the same way.

Large, established animal shelters often have programs where you can check out a dog for an hour or an afternoon, to take it for a walk, to the park, etc. It obviously benefits the dog by getting it out of the loud and stressful shelter environment and getting it fresh air, fun, and socialization. But it would also benefit anyone who misses having a furry friend. Obviously they only allow certain dogs on this list, who are safe and friendly. 🐶

Whenever I live in a city again, this is one of the first things on my to-do list...even though I have a dog. 🤭

@xandriarain does cuddles with her dog for an additional fee, which goes to support the care of her dogs.

Emotional Support animals visit hospitals all the time...I imagine if you talked to the right coordinator, you could get their info to schedule an individual visit.

There are also farms that allow or charge for you to socialize their lambs, baby goats, etc. 🐑 🐐

Yoga studios are getting into Puppy Yoga and Kitten Yoga, where they are all up for adoption, and get cuddled and play while people tryyy to focus on the yoga. 😛

  • I love this concept

  • I really appreciate the feedback to date---especially adopt a shelter pet---sunset----wondering if these sites could become---sister CC sites that CC helped promote-----@xandriarain I would pay the extra fee assuming I meet your dog's strict criteria. Discussion lead to additional thoughts---why doesn't CC ownership support some cuddle like sister charities? Is there not enough money to go around?

  • I would definitely cuddle dogs! Can we start doing this?

  • I actually think it would be a good business model---but instead of making money---I like the partnership with shelter concept ----I worked a high-tech intelligence job I was recruited for in Johnstown, PA----ignoring the fact the city was voted the "most depressing place for women to live (it should have included men) ". I started a walk a shelter dog for lunch during company lunch hours------what I didn't understand was small town politics and the fact despite good intentions--I was bringing unwanted attention on the shelter leadership. Their displeasure was noted by the dog I walked the day before suddenly disappearing the next day----I noted these unexplained disappearances as an unwise big town resident in the first of a series of letters to the local paper editor in chief and open a can of worms resulting in changes. It also led to a call out by a wonderful group called Habitat for Hounds to volunteer building shelters for homeless animals during the winter which we stuffed with food, water, and hay--wonderful experience---reminds me--wondering if the org is still in existence
