About me
I want to say start by saying something positive about the site and the wonderful people that support it---"thank you!"--the service you offer is a blessing and reflects very positively about character! As you may wonder, "what am I doing here and I would agree as I should be out in a pasture somewhere" where older people go I assume--but I guess I am a rebel!
Who am I, a young at heart, down to earth person who needs the warmth of human touch on occasion. I have essentially been devoid of human contact for awhile (no I wasn't in prison) but I wasted a good part of my life trying to save someone--unfortunately not everyone can be saved! I am far from perfect but all my life I have tried to be respectful of others and am way more on the giving side then receiving!
Despite having a wealth of experience traveling the world, I am a really quite a simple person who to this day continues to save earthworms from a hot side walk on a Summer day (given that I think everything has a soul). So--take a chance--I do appreciate and give warm hugs----just a nice platonic friendship! Everything else makes life too complicated and truthfully is not as joyful as simple touch!
If you really want me to know me, here is a children's short story I wrote representative of how I view life (one of many that I hold close to my heart)
Stephanie, the earthworm finds her soul!
Stephanie, the earthworm, lived a good life in a small underground
worm cave, not like the many others in her neighborhood.
The neighborhood was relatively safe as the birds seemed mostly
focused on the many insects that populated the community and
essentially ignored the worms leaving them relatively safe from
danger.
The only exception was her neighborhood located behind what humans
called a “church.” Humans could be heartless on occasion, stepping on
her friends just for fun. Fortunately they all survived!
One morning, Stephanie poked her head out of the front door, and as
always started the day by looking for danger. On this warm Sunday, she
crawled underneath her favorite dandelion and looked up at the sky and
took a nap.
Suddenly, she was awakened by what was known as a sermon noise coming
from the church. As she listened, she heard the preacher loudly
proclaiming the “beauty of a soul. And that by going to church on
Sunday, was the only way to get one. Her excitement quickly turned to
disappointment when she heard him say, “only humans can have a
soul–NOT animals, insects, plants and most decidedly earthworms!
With that she excitedly raced back home crying crawling as fast as she
could to talk to her mom! Stephanie wanted a soul because she thought
she had been a good earthworm all of her life and deserved to have
one. At least she thought–she didn’t fully understand what it was. Her
mom would know the answer–after all she was very wise!
Her mother greeted her at the door asking her why she was crying. She
blurted out, I want a soul, it sounds beautiful–but I heard the
preacher at the church saying earthworms couldn't have one–it was a
special gift only meant for them!
Stephanie’s mother replied–”That’s nonsense–every living creature has
one, in fact there are those that believe even non-animate things have
one (i.e. rocks, etc). I am not so sure about that! You always keep a
n open mind!
“How do you know mom Stephanie asked her mother. She replied because a
soul is everything about your life that makes you unique. A soul
comprises who you are and what your values are! There is a criteria
for getting a soul–you to simply be respectful of others and do
everything in your power to lead a decent life. If you live up to that
criteria, when you die, a higher being opens a door to a beautiful
community where your soul will live forever as long as you adhere to
the new rules–break them and repeatedly without showing remorse your
soul may die.
So I already have a soul Stephaie asked? Her mother replied, “Of
course!’ Who decides if my soul lives or dies?” That would be a higher
being–humans call god describing him in the bible–BUT they are
wrong—because the bible only represents thor perceived notion of what
and who god is–therefore its biased.
The higher being is only known to you, no one else as every living
thing is unique and can present him/herself in many ways! Stephanie
thought about what her mother said and went to bed. That night she was
awakened by a crow making noise–it sounded like the crow was calling
to her. Crows are known as mortal enemies of earthworms but this time
the noise was different.
It drew her to open the front door where she was greeted by an old
crow. Terrified she was about to be eaten, the crow reached out with a
wing and told her not to worry. He picked her up and put her on his
back and flew her high in the nighttime sky into the stars and began
to talk. He said, “Stephanie, I have been watching you your entire
life–and I wanted you to see the beauty a soul contains—I thought
seeing the world from high above would make you understand what a soul
is!” You are a beautiful creature with a huge genuine heart! I’ve
watched how you treated your mom, friends and life around you with
love and respect! Your soul will never die! You are truly a special
creature.
With that he returned home. Stephanie finally understood what a soul was!
