This topic is for horror movie lovers like myself, and the topic of discussion focus is centered around final girls and final guys...If you aren't familiar with the term FINAL in the horror or sci fi movie sense, then Google is your friend!😁

I have my share of memorable final girl characters, since A Nightmare On Elm Street slashed into my life as a tweenager (many years ago), I will say that Nancy Thompson (portrayed by Heather Langenkamp, I think that's how her last name is spelled 😊) has been my personal favorite due to HOW Wes Craven portrayed her in that movie. 😁

Nancy was tough smart, she didn't submit (particularly to the male characters that she dealt with, not even her own father😊) to no one, she faced everything that happened to her with true grit of courage. She had a strategic plan on how to beat Freddy in the end, even beat him by setting booby traps in her own house. 😁

She was definitely one the grittiest badasses of final girls, that I can recall as a youngster back in the day!😁

Lol!😄 I place amongst other final girl badasses like Ellen Ripley (Alien franchise), Sarah Connor (Terminator franchise) and even Kirsty Cotton (Hellraiser franchise) though a clever bad ass and very good a bargaining others to save herself from the Cenobites.💪😉
She (Kirsty Cotton) didn't seem like a final girl (to Me) in the "traditional sense" due her NOT being part of a "stereotype horror character group", then again maybe I am wrong to overthink it.😁😊

After reading more about Nancy, I enjoyed the fact that Wes Craven would consult with his own daughters advice (when it came writing, cast hiring and character portrayals, etc) during the making of A Nightmare On Elm Street. Lol!😄 Not only was his daughter's influence responsible for Johnny Depp's feature debut (with her unforgettable compliment of "But Daddy, he's BEAUTIFUL! 🤩"), his daughter was also responsible for encouraging Nancy to not be portrayed as the typical " dimwit damsel in distress, who runs and trips over NOTHING". His daughter said to Craven, "just because I am a girl doesn't mean that I am clumsy". Lol 😆

And she's absolutely right. 😁👍

I saw Halloween when I was 10. Lorie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis is probably my favorite. I can't remember others at the moment.
Though both I spit on your graves could be counted as final girls. Both were good in different ways.

I am in process of watching the first Hostel. There might be a final guy.

Mine would be Erin from 'You're Next'; not your typical would-be victim and when she has a chance to take someone out she's making damn sure they don't get up again. I'd definitely want her on my side in a crisis situation!

Another memorable final character (a final guy, in fact😁) in another infamous horror film is Ben of George Romero's,Night Of The Living Dead, but it took me awhile (years awhile😏) for it to grow on me as an enjoyable horror film. 😊


Because during the craze and panic that was occuring in that house, here comes a man (and yes very black man 😊) named BEN (portrayed by Duane Jones, RIP). Lol 😆
And he was the only black character in the meat of the film too, Ben was cool headed and calm and very rationally knowledgeable of the zombie situation at hand and of how to deal with them.😊

Which was ..SHOOT'EM IN THE HEAD!🧠🔫

Of course, the controversial ending (or the ending that many SAW as controversial particularly my own mother at the time watching it with her years ago as a child😏).

Lol! I'll avoid sharing the "highlights" of my mother's highly emotionally charged statements from years ago after watching this particular Romero classic with her. Particularly, the racially motivated theory surrounding Ben's demise...

Like I said, it took awhile for Night Of The Living Dead to eventually grow on me, and it did.😁👍 Once I learned to "get over" certain internal feelings inside, so that I can just enjoy the movie for the classic zombie flick that it is. Which I have been doing ever since, and I still watch til this day.😁🍿
I even loved 😍 the remake with the awesome Tony Todd, starring as Ben.🤩

I will say that I DO like how that version ended "better", yes Ben still dies... But!☝️😊

At least the ending shows Ben actually TURNING ZOMBIE versus "assuming zombie" upon being shot in the end.😁👍

And watching Barbara's character (can't recall the actress's name, but she was fabulous 🤩) take a sudden switch from "squealing damsel" to straight up badass when she first runs into Ben, was pretty awesome to watch as well. 😁

I loved the scene, where her jackass fiance (yes he is a jackass to those who haven't watched,You're Next) says to her "I have never SEEN YOU like this before..." as soon as she does her switch up moment, when those arrows start flying through the windows. 😁

Yeah, I reckon some final girls can still BE final girls even if they're not part "of a group" per'se.😄

I do have a soft spot ❤️ for films (horror, dramaand action alike) that centers around the whole r🤐pe and revenge plot. And the remake I Spit On Your Grave and I Spit On Your Grave 3: Vengeance Is Mine (I didn't care for part 2, so I skipped over owning that one.🙄) is definitely in my horror collection.😁🔪
Though I haven't caught up to the original yet to own, I will. I recall watching it years ago in my 20s, in my opinion , the Jennifer Mills character is a unforgettable pioneer of the r🤐pe and revenge horror genre.😊

Lol! I remember buying it out of a video store on VHS, seeing THIS^cover and thinking, in my 20 yr old brain then😜..."Yeah, this looks good!" 😁😄

Here is another r🤬pe and revenge I can't recall the director's name but I do know that it's a French film and the protagonist is named JEN and she is portrayed by an actress named Matilda Lutz.

It's called Revenge (2017).😊

I had to watch after watching the trailer first, due how Jen was killed I had to see HOW did she come back from that kind of death...? 🤔

How she survived, and the creativity shown of her resurrection (which involved Peyote usage😜) was equally outlandish and incredible to Me. Lol
I loved it! 😍

So I will say that Jen, like Jennifer Mills (due to their storylines being similar to each other) can definitely be added amongst the badass final girl troupe.😁👍

Another addition to final guy troupe is unforgettable, his name is Poindexter "Fool" Williams (portrayed by Brandon Adams) from another Craven classic,
The People Under The Stairs. 😁

He was a pleasantly fun heroic character to watch years ago for my little brother and I. Lol

Just turned 13 years old, heck of a way to "celebrate his birthday".🥳
His nickname was bestowed upon him by his loving sister Ruby, due to her being "hung up on those tarot cards" according to Fool.😊

I read that like The Hills Have Eyes, that this too held political statements. To be honest, I wasn't looking for political statements while watching this years ago. But if others (that have watched this film) saw political statements, then so be it.😃

When we (my brother and I) watched this the first time, we were certain that Fool wasn't gonna make it out of that house alive. Lol

But he did...Twice! ✌️😁

While many many others failed to make it out once, thanks to babysnatchers and slumlords dubbed "Mommy And Daddy". Lol

We were both saddened when Roach died too🙁, the one got out of the basement into the walls like any cockroach would😜, there was another there that bonded with Fool and even assisted in his escaping that house that was Alice.
Alice did a remarkable change in her demeanor, once she met Fool as well. She too can also be added to the badass final character troupe along with Fool.😁👍
