Oct 27 - The day pets we've lost return to us during Dia de los Muertos

I am personally agnostic but I do believe we have deep connections to our pets. I have had many through the years of all kinds but I also believe that some are soul bound to us. Even though I've had a few dogs through my lifetime and have loved them all; I have only truly felt bonded like this to one. My sweet Dippy. I tragically lost him July 10, 2024 after a car accident we were in left him with a spinal compression that he ended up having myelomalacia because of and it is fatal. I chose to let him pass comfortably at home with the help of Lap of Love at home euthanasia. I held him in my arms and told him how great he was and how much I loved him and I will see him again. I have to believe I will. He was only 4 years old. My father passed last year and my mother passed a month after Dippy. I have an altar basically where they all are. And I have dedicated a lot of it to my souldog. Tonight on his altar I will leave treats for him and light a candle to show the way. His favorite bed, blanket and toys are here with his fur, nose and paw prints, his harnass and collars.
For those of you who have lost those close to you, I wish you my condolences. And if you believe they are with you, I hope you see them again.
Please feel free to share your sweet furbabies here with me. I have 3 cats still, one is my soulkitty. She was Dippys best friend. So I still have them to share my love with.
Until we meet again Dippy my good boy.

  • Princess Cinnamon as she is known now is my daily cuddle partner. I got her as a rescue last September. Out of all my dogs she is the one that I most connected to. It seems. She came to me at a hard part in my life as well as hers. We've bonded and grown together.

This is the time of year they say is the best to contact ancestors and those we have lost.

  • @Bear Shes a pretty Princess. We are very lucky to have the love they give us. Dippy was my ride or die. I wanted to grow old with him. Maybe one day he'll find his way back to me or show me another that I can love like I did him.

  • I don't know I've always just celebrated people I've lost

  • @KatCuddles77 with that much love in your heart, I'm pretty sure he's watching over you or with your daily. As well as also thinking about a new friend to you.

  • @Janelle19 you do you. There's no right or wrong to who you grieve and who you don't grieve. People have different beliefs, as well as perspectives, and loves. If it feels best to go on in the way that you have then that's fine. If this opens your eyes to something new and you want to try it, that's fine as well. It's your choice, most importantly

  • This post has opened me up and I'll put my jazz on the alter this year. She was a special dog that got me through being homeless and very tough times.

  • I do hope we are reunited with our pets eventually. It seems so tragic to have such a strong bond that is only temporary, fleeting, in this brief life.

  • @Janelle19 @Bear Everyone does have different beliefs, different ways they love and grieve. I respect all of them. I just like sharing my loves. He meant the world to me and was taken too soon. Its been 3.5 months since he left and not a day goes by that I do not think about him or grieve his absence and what could have been.
A week after he passed he visited me in my dreams. And I'm not one that dreams really. But I remember it as if it were real. He was running and looking at me. He was happy. In the last 5 days of his life, his body shut down, his spinal cord was dying, so he couldnt' walk or move or do anything, his small body was disappearing. And then a couple weeks later I had a really rough day and when I went outside there was a full rainbow over my house. I took a pic and made this image.
@TxTom It is sad that their lives are not as long as ours. Dippy gave me all though and I gave him everything I could. I believe the life we did have together was happy and he knew he was loved.
