I started working out 7 years ago but in the beginning of 2024 I started traveling more which put a strain on my relationship with the gym.

Within 9 months I picked up old habits that I thought I killed off 7 years ago and they came in hot and heavy!
I was laying in bed one day and felt like a slob, I felt like the person I was before I even considered working out, scrolling on social media comparing myself to others. Stopped doing that and started looking at old pictures of myself and started comparing myself to her.
I wanted to be that gal again….

So I started going back to the gym, rekindling my love for it and for the person I use to be. It hasn’t been easy but dangnabit I’m determined to be that person again who loves ripping her muscles 💪

I’m hoping this threads can help motivate each other to staying focused on our goals and hopefully, motivate others into making a change in their life they didn’t know they needed.

    Anyways, thank you :)

  • I walk or hike 3-5 miles a day and go to the gym for strength and conditioning about 3-4 times a week for an hour a visit. I can’t run anymore since falling off a roof nine years ago.

  • I've lost 30 pounds over the past 4-5 months. Haven't stepped foot inside a gym, though.

  • My boss has given me the thumbs up on turning 1/2 of my enclosed 20'x20' office into my own gym. No membership fees, no "forgot to stop on my way home," and no adverse weather worries (slip and fall on ice, snow or leaves.) NO EXCUSES! 👻

  • About 5 years ago I decided to turn a corner in life and make some needed adjustments physically, physiologically, spirituality. I read avg 30-50 pages per day / 1 book per week. All genres of interests, simply attaining knowledge and discovering new things or pov. Also took up hiking with a group of friends who push each other and we have endeavored to hike miles of milestones ever since. Mt Saint Helens, Mt Whitney, The Grand Canyon R2R, Cables of Half Dome, were the biggest achievements but daily and weekly walks, cycling, hiking have become a discipline/ routine at this point.

  • Definitely a gym Girlie !!!! I love this Discussion

  • @chrissy123xo I agree and it’s also a thread about self-love as well. You have to at least want to love yourself to set positive goals for yourself. It’s not about being buff as much as being the version of yourself that you love the best.

  • Also @MajesticMango—your threads always rock!

I find the best way to lose weight (and I lost 10 pounds in the last three months) is to pay your bills right before you eat. Your appetite goes right out the window.

  • I'm no expert but, I beieve everything works. Our bodies seem to benefit from all kinds of resistance. It may sound like a lot, but we should try to keep our mind toned as well as our bodies. Lately, I work in 5 sets of any number 3 times a week on large muscle groups...just seems to work.

My focus lately has been my back and lats..helps with my serve in tennis, supporting my guitars and hours in front of the canvas. Proud to say I'm hitting over 150mph on my serve ..I've never met anyone that can hit it harder or faster lol (not bragging). I'm sure they are out there on the pro circuit (I need to get out more?) ...I do realize that most of it is mechanics anyway.

Flirting with the idea of writing a book, The Simple Mechanics of a Terrifying First Serve.

    LOL.

  • It's been hard for me to get back into shape. I was born on bone in regards to my knees and then I had them both replaced by 2020. I had a real nasty relationship and I shot up in weight

I've been trying to go weekly and work on my legs on the exercise bike. I don't always make it as much as I want. Yesterday I went for a long walk at the local botanic Gardens to look at the jack-o'-lanterns. More than I've walked in a while. I didn't give up when my back started having pain and my left leg is shorter and I start having issues with my foot. After a while the back pain went away so that was a good sign. I just need to go more often and push more. In two weeks I get orthotics so I'm hoping that helps me keep moving.

The biggest problem I have is responsibilities and chores after work.

I hike twice a week for 6 to 8 miles and kayak at least once a week. I have small weights I use while listening to music or TV. I just want to maintain my weight and have reasonably good endurance and mobility. My SO keeps me going on the dance floor also.

  • Gyms honestly scare me. I'd like to build a little muscle and, arms, stomach, glutes.. but I am one of those that would prefer to have someone with me. But I'm broke so that wont happen. I have lost about 40 lbs since last year

  • Trying to get back into it. I lost 55 pounds after covid and managed to keep it off. But with pre-menopause kicking in I'm starting to gain a few pounds so I definitely need to step it up and kick it back into gear. So I'm hoping this will help motivate me. I need to boost up my self confidence lol. Thanks for posting this!

  • Lovely post @MajesticMango !
Right now, I am working on my sleep, things that make me fall and stay asleep. It usually helps with physical activities and eating.
Also, slowly overcoming my gym fear, @KatCuddles77 can relate! (Does your area have any free outdoor group workouts? Not quite gym, but you might enjoy the group workout if it's something you'd be interested in.

  • I get plenty of exercise... weight, BMI, BP, cholesterol, all good.

However, I'm trying to cut back on sugary soda and caffeine. But I'm having a hard time doing so. Dr. Pepper is my meth.

  • I'm at my biggest and I want to lose at least 30. I'm going to pay more attention to my sugars, and also go back to the gym. I should be able to commit to somthing like 3 times a week. I'll also tall to the doc about getting on a shot to curb my cravings 😍🍔🍟🍕

  • I’ve been doing Pilates 4 days a week for two months and I’m finally starting to feel stronger, more energized, and my flexibility has come back 🥰

I highly recommend it, especially for anyone struggling with joint paint or range of motion

  • Sister Skinny is spending at least 30 minutes a day chasing flies and another 30 minutes a day being chased by Butchy.
Look at that figure. she could model for SI.

@Sooson does she have an OF?

  • @lonelytauros lol please don't give us ideas. but I will hook you up with a free subscription.

  • @Sooson @lonelytauros You 2 are so funny. Sometimes I don't even know what's going on but I can still tell you've got it.
    Lol.

@achetocuddle the only thing I got is arthritis

  • @goodbyehug So how does Pilates work for range of motion?

  • I stumbled upon this probably 10 years ago and have followed it since. No gym needed, just bring yourself. Configured to make it easy to start and stick with.

  • Wow I definitely want to see some before and after pics so I can be like…

And then be inspired by everyone and work harder to join the before and after pic squad

  • I miss the gym soooo much. I was a total
Gym rat… worked in a gym part time just for the free membership and classes and worked out 10-13 hours of tough workouts weekly. Then I hit hit w a couple brain tumors (one messed up my balance and the other my hormones) and a bone tumor in my hip now my hip is bone on bone. Awaiting surgery now to fix the hip so I can get back to gym life.

  • @sage91436 you’re still a beast :,)
