Virtual Cuddles

[Deleted User]CassandraThomas (deleted user)

hello fellow Cuddlers ☺️

i’m new to this space, but an avid cuddler and eager to learn from those who have been here and in the cuddling world🥰 longer.

as a severely chronically ill girly, my forté and the option most available to me, is virtual cuddling — something i’ve become really passionate about and enjoyed participating in in other spaces.

my question is whether there is much need or desire within this community for virtual cuddles, and if so, how that has looked for some of you?

thank you in advance for sharing. ♡

  • Personally I prefer physical touch, though I'm not opposed to talking with a friend online for emotional comfort.

  • I’m a huge fan of virtual cuddles. 🥰 I love getting to know new people and getting to see them on a screen is very emotionally fulfilling to me. It’s not for everyone I guess but it’s been a great experience for me.

And, we will see if OP ever returns.

Also, admittedly I am old, but back in my day (when woolly mammoths roamed the Earth) we used to call virtual cuddling conversations.

    Did I miss something?

Her account is paused, so she's likely going pro.

  • @CharlesGrove I've been wondering what the heck "virtual cuddles" are ever since I joined. Seems like an oxy moron to me. If that really IS what people are doing, thanks for explaining! 😂 I was hoping to ask the OP but since she's MIA at the moment, I'm glad you were around.

@CharlesGrove i believe this is what happened lol 😂

I love wooly mammoths I'll virtually cuddle one any time

  • Some people cuddle for other reasons than touch, believe it or not!
Some are lonely, or feel invisible, and need someone to see them.
For a long time, at one point in my life, I felt forgettable. I would have loved to have someone remember ME.
Some feel they can’t be their true selves with anyone currently in their life, so they let their barriers down with their virtual cuddler.
Some people have secret dreams, that they are afraid to give voice to, so they dream them during their virtual cuddle.
Some people feel judged for one reason or another, and like the radical acceptance that a virtual cuddle provides.
Some people are in a rut, and have the same routine day in day out and would like a friendly encouraging outside perspective and a virtual cuddle can be that.

  • There are definitely people on the site looking for virtuals! I get those inquires just as often as in person sessions. I usually pass on virtuals because I prefer in-person sessions but there is deff a market for what you're offering.

  • I get asked often to do virtual
Cuddles and I always end up
Declining. I just feel awkward virtually .. heck i even feel Awkward in telehealth appts. Lol

  • @SquishyJackie

Virtual sessions can take on many forms but for many its just a chat session.

Here is a few examples of the way virtual sessions can go:

Sharing cozy moments: Sit or lie comfortably on our respective beds or couches while video calling and share moments of closeness.

Virtual hugs: Mimic hugging actions by wrapping ourselves in blankets or pillows while virtually expressing the action of hugging each other.

Eye contact: Maintain eye contact /gazing during the call to create a sense of connection.

Gentle touch: If both people are comfortable, can simulate gentle touches by touching our own body in a comforting manner while on the call (examples: stroking our own arm/hand, rubbing our own shoulders, cupping our own face, running fingers through our hair, etc).

Shared activities: Engage in activities like watching a movie, reading a book, doing a task together during the call, while periodically expressing warmth verbally or just being there for them.

While virtual cuddling may not fully replicate the physical cuddling experience, it can still provide some emotional comfort and closeness. Communication and mutual understanding are key to making it work.

  • Well I guess one positive is you can't get your boobs grabbed or dry humped, and if dude pulls out his weiner you can just disconnect

  • if dude pulls out his weiner you can just disconnect

Maybe he was just seeing if the camera really does add five pounds.

  • @LadyVel thank you for explaining 🙂

@TheFunCartel 🤣 no camera is THAT good!

Virtual sessions of various kinds are an ordinary part of the cuddle community and have been for some time. The were popularised by lockdown.

A virtual cuddle is a videocall which attempts to replicate the emotions and feelings of a physical cuddle. If this is done well, it is astonishingly effective.

On the other hand, some videocalls are online companionship, which is a worthwhile and valuable thing but not a virtual cuddle.

There is a very useful sticky topic about this at the top of the Professional Cuddling board.

    @CharlesGrove

    Did I miss something?

Yes. Virtual cuddling and virtual conversation are completely different things, and not even closely related. A virtual cuddle may or may not involve talking.

@SquishyJackie see that sticky topic for a lot more information over and above @LadyVel's excellent introduction.

    @MaverickLegend
You are wrong. What's worse is that posting such a meme is disrespectful to the people who value online companionship, as well as those who offer it.

If you think it's easy to establish a rapport, online, with somebody you have never met before, who has been socially isolated for some time, is lonely, has social anxiety in general and intense anxiety about attempting a new activity with a stranger (on top of the ordinary anxieties about being ripped off and so on), and almost certainly faces other challenges as well .... then you are wrong again.

Belittling people who need help, and those who are trying to help them, is a horrible thing to do. I suggest you sit in a corner for a while and think about why you decided to attack vulnerable and kind people in this way. I'm not joking, I'm completely serious. I would be glad to hear the results of your reflection, either here or by PM, if you would like to share them.

  • @CuddleDuncan

A virtual cuddle may or may not involve talking.

Out of curiosity, have you been in a virtual cuddle in which there wasn't talking? (I would be very interested in that story if so ... if you wouldn't mind sharing)

  • [Deleted User]MaverickLegend (deleted user)

@CuddleDuncan im used to being wrong I was married in a previous life lol 😂

But you know I’m a lowlife scoundrel and you are a knight undoubtedly known as Sir CuddleDuncan. I am not worth your time and I’m sure you have more valuable concerns to deal with such as your health. Godspeed Sir CuddleDuncan

  • Sheesh the amount of judgmental responses 🙄

I’ve had a couple virtual inquiries and did not know how to facilitate so atm I don’t offer but I’d love to learn more about it! I wish there were more threads on this topics and more positive input!

  • @sophiasnuggles Every virtual cuddle conversation tends to be this way. I think they are great. In fact so far, that is all I have been a part of so far. Every one of them have been something I have cherished.

@sophiasnuggles I am an experiential learner. When I was first approached for a virtual cuddle. I agreed at half off just for the experience and to negate the feeling of taking advantage of someone looking for a service I may or may not be able to provide. I was completely transparent about my lack of experience in the arena of virtual cuddling and after that one session, I felt I had a much deeper understanding of virtual cuddling than by just reading about it.

@CharlesGrove it is conversation, for me anyway. I think it's just called virtual cuddling because of the platform. Really I find it sort of like teletherapy if you're participating in talk therapy, not specialized therapies.

@MaverickLegend I laughed. I understood the light hearted nature of the meme share. Humor facilitates conversation by poking fun at our own selves. If we cannot laugh at our own absurdity, what is the point?

@CuddleDuncan I appreciate your distinction btwn virtual cuddling and virtual companionship, but find it to be contradictory to my (very limited) lived experience.

I would still cuddle a mammoth, and wow there's a lot of patooting and faluting going on

  • If you are spending 60-100$/hr for virtual cuddle, time to replace tissue roll with dollar.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

@roni56 Not sure I understand your comment. If someone is spending that kind of money for a virtual cuddle, it's obviously worth it to them. I have never done one, but especially if someone doesn't have family or friends to talk to, I can see why someone would. It's not for everyone, or maybe even most people, but it's obviously useful to some or no one would be offering it.

  • edited January 2025

@MaverickLegend I also laughed. I browse these boards enough & recognize you to know it wasn’t meant to be malicious.

I’m glad virtual exists to help those who need & can benefit from it. Definitely understand what @CuddleDuncan is saying, but acting as if that isn’t a motivator at all is disingenuous.

I don’t formally offer virtual cuddles. During the pandemic I found that a lot of people were looking for a non-platonic experience. Not to mention I am not the best at replicating cuddling virtually. On rare occasions, I will offer virtual sessions to existing clients who cannot feasibly meet up for an in person session, but really need to check in with me. So it is really just a normal video call where we talk. There is really no physicality to it where I’m doing self guided touch or breathing exercises because that’s just not my forte.

  • [Deleted User]MaverickLegend (deleted user)

@Big_Green_23 and @cozysox thank you. I can be sarcastic at times though lol

  • @GuyverGordon thats very cool, I’m glad to hear you’ve had positive experiences 😊 seems to be the most comfortable method of connection for some

  • It is also the easiest and usually the cheapest (if I were to be honest)

  • Out of the dozen or so virtual cuddles I’ve done, only three have been on camera. The rest are typically phone calls, which I honestly prefer. It gives me a greater sense of control over the environment, as the likelihood of the client making an inappropriate request is reduced when they can’t see me and I can’t see them. My biggest tip is to always remember to collect payment upfront. Why? So that in the event a Cuddler tries to pull some Tom foolery, you have some insurance. When a client makes a request outside of the cuddle comfort code of conduct, leave the call Immediately and enjoy your coins. :)
