Being lonely sucks anywhere, perhaps more in a crowd or big city. However, I think that you will find this community as friendly as any. Not to get biblical (I'm certainly not religious) it is better to light one small candle than forever curse the darkness. There aren't a lot of active Philadelphian members on here (sometimes, it seems that there aren't many active members from anywhere), but there are a few. Keep up your search and be the truest friend that you can be when you find someone. Hang in there.

I don't know much about the realm of Philly, but it's certainly large enough to have enough of your subcultures if you know where to look. Do you have a niche you connect with? I'm aware of a large Chiptune music presence, filmmaker/animation peoples, and...baseball? But really, what crowds/fandoms/etc. do you enjoy?
