REM sleep is probably where most of the active dreaming takes place. taking Zmag and also eating well/properly and not scrambling my mind before bedtime has led to sleep data like this
I'm 70 and dream every night, typically something related to what I was thinking right before bed. Last night an old friend responded to me after 8 years of silence. So that turned into a dream about an old girlfriend appearing out of nowhere. Tonight it could be something related to feeling hung over from a workout weekend. Weight lifting, spa, yoga, Zaaz platform, massage... too much.
You can actually improve your dream memory! My theory is that as we get older we get busier and less mindful and so we tend to forget our dreams more often. You can improve your dream memory by writing down your dreams when you do remember them. Also, another tip is to stay still when you wake up from a dream, and recall all the details without getting up. Once you start getting up your brain starts to purge the dream so you need to get it into longer term memory!
My dreams when I was younger were so real that I suffered a painful lesson learning they were not real! I was arguingwia friend about my abilyy yo fly simply by jumping in the air when I was about 7. When it didn't work..he laughed at me....that just made me more driven...I proceded to launch myself from the top of shelf onto the concrete garage floor breaking my collar bone. Ironically that led to a 20 year aviation career in the Navy u
I have dreamed that I was flying, over trees and homes and rivers. I just remember thinking I never want this to end, then I woke up. I also used to work with my father for 10 years. He was a pharmacist. He passed in 2020 and since then, I’ve had several dreams that I was at work with him. I remember seeing him counting pills and I just wanted to be quiet and not move so the dream wouldn’t end. He also had a lot of people that would just talk and talk and talk so I’ve had a dream where we were in the pharmacy, but there was a circle of chairs and all of his customers were going around sharing their stories, it was like group therapy lol. I don’t mind those dreams at all. 🙂
@wilderdude How do you get your sleep data? I have an Apple Watch that I wear daily but not at night, need to charge it. Do you use a sleep monitor of some kind?
"A study published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology and reported by International Business Times suggested that those people who reported high dream recall had more activity in the temporoparietal junction than those who didn’t recall their dreams often."
@g_w_t_w yeah, wear it at night. Honestly that's the main reason I have the watch, for sleep/workout data. Always shocked that people take their smartwatch off at night, that sleep data can be really useful as far as what practices get you the best sleep.
Not sure on apple, but I'm sure they also have sleep tracking. Might have to dig into the settings.
Ok good to know and Ive thought about it. I’ve tried sleeping with it on and it wasn’t comfortable, but I’ll give it another try because I would like to see the tracking. Will have to charge it during another time of day.
