Earliest memory

My earliest memory - I was on a rickshaw with friends going to school. On our way it rained so hard, our rickshaw puller had no choice but took us back to our homes. It was a joyful heartfelt day. We did not have to go to school. Enjoyed unplanned home cooked meal. Full day of games and snacks. Life was so simple.

I remember meeting my sister for the first time at the hospital. I was 4. I was so excited to hold her and talk to her! And THEN the staff made the mistake of doing the PKU test (the heel prick) on her in front of me. I lost it, ran at them screaming and crying not to hurt my baby. 🥹❤️

@SpicyNSweet - I think you have been a protective big sister from the get-go. I am sure she is very thankful.

I don't remember much from my childhood as well. I was talking to my mom the other day. She was like ..'You were naughty, playful, you did this, you did that'... I was like..hmm I don't remember any of it but this school incident stood out.

I remember being about 3, and very excited about some lack patent leather “fancy shoes”-Mary Jane’s. I decided to combine my two favorite things and wore them outside into the baby pool of 3 inch deep water.

My mom called out sharply to me and I realized immediately that I had ruined the shoes and burst into tears of remorse. My mom snapped a photo and that is in the album for all time. I am not sure if it’s a memory or just from seeing that photo a number of times over the years but it sure feels like a memory!

I was in a doctor’s office waiting room playing with a plastic bear with a jaw that could open and close by moving a lever, but the jaw had like sand or dirt in it or something so it was just stuck open. Disappointing.

I have three memories from the house we lived in when I was three years old. I'm not sure which came first. One was lovely and made me feel special. The other two involved bugs, and were creepy/scary.

Earliest memory was going into the canal behind my house and through what we called Dark Tunnels. The other end overlooked a drop-off into a mix of mountain and sewer water where we swam 🥴

I remember when I was three years old and somebody set fire to the apartment building we lived in. I was sitting on my grandma‘s lap as smoke was coming in one of the doors in the kitchen. And then after that, I remember being carried by my mind coming down the stairs as a fireman was coming up and asked my mom who was in the apartment. I think she said my grandma was still there and I know she mentioned the dog. Then I blanked for a couple years after that I think.

My two earliest memories are from '89-'90.

For the first - October 17th, 1989. I vaguely remember watching tv while my mom had my newborn sister (born Sept 23) and alerts went off on the tv, then our lamps started swaying. My mom, sis, and I hid under our heavy wood dining table and it seemed to last forever. It was the Loma Prieta earthquake, we were 100mi away. I remember how scared she was for her sister in the South Bay and family in S.F., but all were lucky with the timing.

Some months later in 1990, that baby sis was now a toddler with a big mouth. I distinctly remember us sitting on the edge of the linoleum kitchen floor and she somehow managed to stick an entire baby food jar lid in her mouth. I just stuck my hand in her mouth and pulled it out, and we kept on playing 😂 Afterwards my mom didn't believe me, but my sis years later loved to show off her party trick of fitting her whole hand in her mouth. She still has a big mouth 😂😂😂

My first memory that I know is mine and not someone telling me was being in my grandfather’s car in the back seat, he was taking my brother & I to see our new house. My parents were already there moving in. I can see in front of me, trying to look up to see out the car window. I can still see the plush (velour?) gray interior and the silver window handle used to roll it up. Right in front of my face. I was 4.

@SpicyNSweet I have a rule in my life which is "having a simple conversation while drinking a cup of coffee can solve all your problems". you can use it if you want and will be glad to explain it too.

My earliest memory was when I was 4 years old, my mom vacuuming, I jumped on the couch, I thought it was going to get me. 😂😂

Sitting in the back seat of my mom and dad’s car and hearing the children singing on Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall. I was hooked on music from that point. It’s a vivid memory/moment for me. It makes me happy when I think about it.

I was barely able to climb onto a chair, and then I lay stomach down on it. I imagine it was memorable because of how difficult it was to climb onto the chair.
