What hobbies does everyone have on here?? I sculpt for example.
I love to cook and bake, lift weights, do yoga, go hiking and play board games with my fiancé. I also love to travel with family and friends.
I build Lego models and solve Rubik's cube. I also draw soda cans or what people is requesting of me
I occasionally run marathons since it brings me back to my younger years when I was in the track club. My stamina is steadily declining so My 8 marathon a year quota has been reduced to 5, plus I can't do the more extreme ones like Spartan Race like I used to when I was younger.
Lowkey bums me out since there is a new obstacle race called Hyrox and it looks like fun and is also one of those endurance races that will give you a good kick in the butt. I know I should be more grateful I'm still able to run and I am, but part of me misses the thrill of competition.
@SelfMadeJay FIVE MARATHONS A YEAR HOLY HELL 😳 I'm impressed LOL
My hobby is collecting hobbies. I get into something, learn everything I can about it, buy all the required stuff to do it, become briefly employable on whatever subject matter it is, then lose all interest and move on to the next one. 😁
Sometimes this results in useful life skills, like I know how to use a sewing machine and rewire a light switch. Sometimes it just leads to a substantial crafting supply that my kids regularly raid once I give the go ahead. 😂 when they ask "do we have [insert random craft need]?" I can usually safely say that we do.
My biggest hobby right now though is probably my home. Figuring out how to do things and fix it up as much on my own as I can. This leads to a lot of personal satisfaction, but also a lot of swearing, youtube videos and "conversations" with assorted AIs. ☺️
Happy Hobbies! 🤗
@mauvefox omg you sound like me!! LOL. I sew. Cook. Sculpt. Paint. Draw. Digital art and animation. Beading. I want to get into rug tufting at some point.
@Breenana21 i've seen videos on the rug tufting and it's definitely been tempting 🤣 just downloaded a bunch of apps for drawing, can i draw? absolutely not. Am I going to try, yes I am.
I collect spores, molds and fungus.
Learning Japanese, doing Hotworx workouts, going to Disney Parks, and cuddling
@mrwonka I just started following a guy on TikTok who makes posts about the behaviors of his slime molds. And it’s something I never saw myself saying outloud before I did it. 😂 but it was fascinating!
I have a large collection of imported (mostly Japanese) videogame soundtracks -+ primarily CD format, some vinyl.
I also love trying different blends of loose leaf tea. I'm trying new ones all the time, either in tea shops or at home.
@SpicyNSweet My High Score was 10 back in 2017. Never doing that again 😄but yeah, running is a passion of mine and I'll still do my best to keep up at it, even if I'm reduced to a snail's pace. 😂
Video games, board games, card games, bowling, playing guitar, playing bass, singing, karaoke, learning new things daily if I can (even if just a youtube tutorial or something), watching shows and anime, going to concerts, going to conventions, trying new restaurants.
I have other interests as well but I don't know if I do them often enough to be considered an actual hobby, but... these include swimming (usually in a pool), going to the beach (though I tend to stay in the sand or near the edge of the water rather than swim in it), horseback riding, going for walks in the woods (though not alone usually), go karts, and probably other things I'm forgetting.
I would have to say mine is old cars and trucks. I have a 1959 Ford I’ve owned it 40 years now At 1 time I had 12 cars/trucks at home. Some neighbors called the county and said I was running a used car lot. lol I down sized, 3 cars, 2 trucks, 2 rv’s, 4 tractors, a motorcycle. My latest purchase is a Pinto Wagon, it’s my 116th car. Lol. It’s a sickness, lol
Singing my own songs 🎤 🎹 🎸 🎶 at open mics, writing ✍️ poetry and songs 🎵 , learning to be better at golf ⛳️, practicing my archery skills and practicing at the Reloaderz range in NJ. trying different Mediterranean and Indian restaurants around the city 🌆 and teaching myself to cook the meals at home …
I started boxing two years ago, it's been great for my cardiovascular health. I've also been expanding my music listening horizons. I've always loved reading and have cooked for myself for many years. Not sure what's next on my agenda, but I'm open to trying nearly anything. 😊
I hunt, play tennis, walk, read and holla at friends and relatives.
Like most other neurodivergent folks, my primary hobby is collecting hobbies 😅 I tend to go through a rotation of a few favorites with the occasional foray into a new one. Standbys have been:
On my list to try out/pick up again:
@cuddlefaery i saw this woman who goes into thrift stores and buys old sweaters. Washes them and then takes them apart for the yarn so she can reuse it for new projects. Because as she puts it there is an abundance of textile waste.
She’s got a little machine that strips it and bundles it all at the same time. She just holds the sweater up.
Now I would never have any need for that much yarn but you can bet I started thinking about buying that little machine and hitting up goodwill.
@waynewv that is a schweet Pinto!
@mauvefox yep, I love frogging - particularly for 100% cotton or 100% wool yarns as they're so damned expensive. I currently have 1 cotton and 1 wool sweater I thrifted months ago sitting atop my yarn pile, waiting to be frogged 😅 part of the problem is I don't have a yarn swift or ball winder - I'm doing it all by hand. I also made the mistake of buying sweaters that had some of the seams serged, so I'm dealing with a bunch of shorter pieces 🤦🏻♀️
But if you have the time, patience, and/or the swift & winder - I highly recommend. I bought both of the sweaters for $3 each; there's at least 3-4 skeins worth of yarn in each; budget quality 100% cotton yarn averages ~ $6-8 per skein, and budget 100% wool is around $8-10 per skein. So I paid $6 for at minimum $42 worth of yarn.
I'm obsessed with plants, indoor and outdoor. I love working with my house plants and in my garden. I love reading, turned my craft room into a library (now all my craft supplies are unorganized in my sewing room, such a mess). And I overly enjoy over decorating for every holiday/party I host.
Wood working is my primary hobby, but I also cross stitch and crochet when its too cold to work in my garage. But I also enjoy just about anything outdoors; hiking, cycling, horse back riding, range time (not golf). Use to enjoy rock climbing before shoulder injury and surgery made it impossible to do. I'm also into home brewing, primarily mead but I can make wine as well.
I write poetry, read, draw, and write essays. I enjoy watching films and listening to music with my friends.
I build wooden models and do pottery on the potter's wheel.
Online chess!!!!
Board games are my main hobby, but I also enjoy reading, watching horror movies, hunting geocaches, dancing, nature walks, baking, LEGO, origami, and multimedia art projects.
I work in I.T. but can't shut the brain off so I have a homelab with multiple computers for tinkering with new stuff.
I'm ADHD(undiagnosed but it's obvious) and will shift whatever I'm hyperfixated on, so hobbies include:
-Technology(Gaming, VR, Selfhosting services like Plex, or Local AI)
-3D Printing
-Laser Engraving
-Woodworking
--And other Random interests, I fi nd some topics interesting enough to want to learn, like low voltage, gardening, to more obscure things, like I'd like to know how to operate a train, or fly a plane.
Another AuDHD nuerodivergent checking in! 😂 Yes, my hobbies are collecting hobbies. Although I would maybe more accurately call it collecting....everything? Knowledge, skills.....weirdos 😁 and experiences. I make money with my various art, cuddling, cleaning and animal care though, but the government says if it's under a certain amount it can still be considered a hobby... Tax-wise anyway 😅
@frankchaos
that is exactly how i describe it as well. My hobby is collecting hobbies, learning everything about something, buying all the things that go with it, becoming moderately good at it to the point I would be able to be employed at an entry level, then losing interest and moving on completely.
sometimes this results in useful life skills, like learning how to use a sewing machine. But mostly it just leads to a very full craft closet that then my kids then regularly raid. 😁
