I am beginning to think there is a market for hermetically sealed homes where no offensive thoughts specific to that person can enter but rainbows and lollipops abound. It would save some people the burden of being the thought police.
It’s interesting how much pushback “political correctness” and “the thought police” get...
At this point I simply hear such complaining as, “But I want to have the right to be a jackass and hurt people.”
And, of course, they have that right, no matter how much damage it does to those around them, or indeed themselves.
In a related question, is there an “ignore” option on these forums, simply to save time?
@CharlesTwisted Of course you probably think you are not a jackass right? Tolerance until dissent? A virtue untested is not a virtue at all.
I’m beginning to think there is too much testosterone in the forums. People seem to have the need to have the only point of view, not only this one thread but many of them. Also the positions being defended and argued about at fundamentally negative and self serving. This trend is going in the wrong direction, it’s turning in in t a man-woman-haters vs. woman-man-haters fight club. It’s all very uninformative and uninteresting.
@BashfulLoner I think there is some of that here, but I think there is a lot of unneeded censorship adding fuel to the fire. For example, I supported the notion that predatory men, regardless of how you word your bio, will always be predatory. Someone came back taking the words I used and twisting them into a justification of sorts for rape and I deflected it to prison in a light hearted way and said but I would not know about that though. Suddenly I am in the wrong side of the fence. One poster found it humorous, which was the intent—never did it condone rape—but one person went on a rant. If we are headed to a world where anyone offended by anything is cause for censorship, then kill me now.
