Alternatives to messaging on cuddle comfort, good or bad?

I'm not a huge fan of the messaging system on cuddle comfort. Getting an email notification every time I get a message on this website really clutters my inbox, and I find it a bit inconvenient that I can't read/respond to messages unless I go back on cuddle comfort. There's a lot of jumping back and forth from email to cuddle comfort, and imo it's kind of a slow and inefficient way to have a conversation. Because of this, I find myself often switching to some other means of messaging.

I know that it is recommended to keep conversations on the site bc it is easier to report inappropriate behavior vs the whole process of using screenshots to report people. I've been on the website for 2-3yrs but recently became a professional cuddler and have read some horror stories about stalkers and sexual harassment. I am definitely no longer comfortable with sharing my phone number, and I try to respond as quickly as I can when I get an email notification, but slow and inefficient communication could mean losing a potential client. Since I am new and still in the process of building a clientele, I'm not sure if I have the luxury to be able to afford losing potential clients.

I think it would be really great, and safer alternative, if cuddle comfort could make their own messaging app (like how fb has a messaging app) or at least tweak their messaging system so that it's a bit more efficient. I know that if it was as quick and convenient to communicate on this site as it is texting/messaging on sites like fb, or apps like whatsapp, then I, and possibly other cuddlers would not be as tempted to take conversations off the site.

As of now, I can only work with what I have. Would you suggest continuing to keep conversations only on cuddle comfort, or do you think it's okay to switch to messaging off the site? I find that especially for messaging someone when if I'm omw or lost on the road etc, going about it through cuddlecomfort quite slow and not as reliable as texting. Since phone numbers are a bad idea, what apps would be better? I have kik and while it is more anonymous, I find that there is a weird sexual connotation to the app bc a lot of people use it for sexting (idk if it's just me). Whatapp and fb are also out of the question if the concern is privacy. I had a person suggest line but I'm not sure how popular the app is and if asking someone to download a new messaging app is more inconvenient than just continuing to use cuddlecomfort.

On this subject, I wish I could turn emailed notifications OFF.

  • Y'all get messages?!?! =)

I rarely if ever get a message, so I don't have your problem.
Maybe you'd be better off posting in the Professional Cuddling forum?

  • I would argue that this is really a "ways to improve the site" thread but I do agree with the sentiments.
As much I do like being here, I do hate the email flood to see a notification and I really don't like to give out my other forms of contact because I have been burned by that before with some creepers so keeping them here is a bonus for me.
@Catnapper I downloaded text now on my phone that gives you a throw away number that you can give out that I have been using so if I need a quick out, I just refresh the number in the app and I don't have to change my actual number. Not sure if that helps.

  • Try TextFree or Hushed.com

  • I too vote for the chatting system to be made more efficient, or for Cuddle Comfort to develop its own app to make things smoother across all platforms. As far as I've read, this isn't on the immediate blueprint though. I don't at all mind the status quo with that being said. Personally, I want the mods to be able to intervene with abusive members if things are going awry, so I prefer having contact stay on CC. People interested in meeting who aren't seeing the safety aspect and think it's an inconvenience aren't exactly people I would care to talk to or book with. Beside the point, it's in our policy as pros here to keep the message exchanges on CC for each and every appointment regardless of any request to take it off-site. As far as I'm aware, enthusiasts can do what they want regarding off-site contact.

@CharlesTwisted and @Catnapper Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can turn off notifications entirely in the profile settings, set to weekly, once a month etc. I used to get lots of notifications and now I only get them for friend requests (I apologise to those who requested me and didn't get it accepted yet! My account hasn't been reinstated as of the moment!)

@Catloaf just checked under the notification settings and could only see 3 options: instant, once a day, and once a week, so that really sucks for @CharlesTwisted (There are also option for popup vs email notifications in the forums and I have no idea what popup notifications are bc to my knowledge I have not received those before) I personally like receiving instant notifications bc I like to be able to respond to a message quickly, so an email is better than nothing at all. I do agree that people who lose interest bc of slow responses are perhaps not the best people to have as clients. People who aren't sympathetic to safety issues or pushy about offline communication is definitely a huge red flag. I just personally am not a huge fan of the messaging on this site so I was wondering if there were any alternatives or if should just stick to CC despite the inconvenience. I did see a couple of threads on the forum while doing research after posting this, about pros being banned for giving out phone numbers, but I didn't read anything about that when I applied and read the contract so I'm still a bit fuzzy on the details. Tbh the organization of the forum isn't the best either... I don't mean to bash on cuddlecomfort lol, it's a great concept and I love the site but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. Btw your profile is adorable. Love them kitty loafs lol.

@laylanie should I have posted this in the improvements thread instead? Still new to navigating in the forums. I see options to edit posts but not delete them, and I'm not sure if it would be better to delete this post and repost under the other thread or to link to this post from the improvements thread. Or if polls are a thing you can attach in comments. Also, thanks so much for the suggestion, I will definitely look into text now! You too @Esquire

  • @Catnapper Oh, maybe I was kind of blanketing when explaining the policy for us. We can have phone, Skype etc. consultations to screen the client, text when on the way etc. but in order to actually confirm the appointment, cancel etc. it has to be done through here. Basically, they just want the majority of the contact kept on-site other than times when texting is more practical.

I recommend 2nd Line for an alternative texting and calling app. They are the best I have found so far. @laylanie 's suggestion of Text Now is another alternative too, but I personally have sometimes found that the texts aren't being received or being sent. Might just be a weird glitch on my end though, or maybe it just doesn't work that well in Canada or something. I dunno!

You can't delete a post, but maybe a mod will know if it belongs here or in another category. ( @SoulcuddlerZ )

@Catnapper @laylanie Have you guys tried setting your account to daily notifications instead?

But either way, I agree it's not ideal and Push notifications is on the roadmap for this reason.

  • @Catloaf thanks so much for the clarification
@Mark are you one of those people who work for CC or is it just a coincidence that your name is Mark lol sorry if that's a dumb question

  • @Mark are you one of those people who work for CC

    Yes indeed.

@Catnapper There is only ONE Mark on this site. He still monitors everything believe it or not and this site is huge.

I agree with the idea of KiK being a sexting app. I'd never use it personally, to similar to Fetlife honestly. Especially when there are so many free disposable texting app's out there.

But the very idea is to be slow and purposeful. That's what cuddling is. I think my quickest cuddle was about 75 minutes and I felt extremely rushed.
Keep your day job until this takes off for you, be careful, and slow down.

  • @PaulaDahla yeah I'm definitely not planning on going full time
@Mark lowkey wasn't sure bc your bio was empty and am fighting the instinct to kiss up to you ?
you should put in your bio "There is only ONE Mark on this site"

  • Ooo. A poll!

  • ???

    Good answers both @Catnapper & @HappinessHenry.
    Did you vote? I did.

    @chococuddles - a poll!
