Let’s Write Haiku!

The “Three Words at a Time” and “Share Poetry” threads inspired me to make this post. Where “Three Words” is a fun communal effort, I see this as a more structured form of individualistic expression.

Haiku are fun and easy to write: they (usually) consist of three lines and seventeen syllables (5-7-5). Feel free to get experimental, though!

I’ll kick things off.

A new fad diet:
Autocannibalism!
Get that hot beach bod.

    Believe it or not, I wrote this little poem while I was dreaming one time. I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, this poem was racing through my head, then I realized it was a haiku and wrote it down.

    [This was meant to be sarcastic, but then again it might explain why I've been writing all my haiku in Japanese first... or it could just be I do it 'cause it's fun.]
